What a great meal. The date and scallion pancake with creamed feta was the surprise dish though. That feta is amazing. Some notes1- its loud. Yes I'm old but its yell at your date loud2- skip the oysters as there is so much stuff on them that you can't taste the brine3- go to the bathroom. Entertaining art

First off, I just want to tell everyone to order the steak.I came here with my girlfriends and we ordered 35,000 orders of steak. Our waiters probably had a good laugh because we kept asking for another order. It's that good. We ordered family style and shared a bunch of plates and voted that the steak was the top entree. But ok, aside from that. They have seasonal menus and we went during the fall. So make note of that because the menu does change depending on when you go. Check ahead on their website or instagram! (@barjabroni)The vibe is definitely super social. A bunch of friend groups ordering bottles of wine and enjoying the atmosphere. It could be sexy enough for a date night but it depends on the kind of vibe you guys prefer. Everyone here was super cool, the staff, the other guests...great vibes all around. When it comes to parking, keep in mind that this is San Francisco, lol. You will have to circle the block and maybe walk for a second if you drive. It's best to call a Lyft.

I wish i took photos- the food was so pretty and yum! It is very loud to echo other reviews but i had a great time. The focaccia and cauliflower are soooo good (and i usually dont love cauliflower), and the staff are very kind and fun and helpful w choosing a nice wine. Gnudi also delish. Sad i didnt have room for dessert. Loved!

Had an amazing time here! We made a reservation for 8:30 on a Thursday and arrived 10 minutes early and were promptly seated. The vibe inside is very romantic and dimly lit, perfect for a girls night or a date. All the staff we interacted with were very helpful and knowledgeable about the wines -- I'm not a huge wine person but was pleasantly surprised by all the glasses we ordered -- the skin contact was refreshingly light and fruity, and the red chardonnay was also light and not too dry. They paired very well with the food we ordered; we got the date and scallion pancake with whipped feta, the house focaccia with whipped ricotta, the japanese sweet potatoes with cured egg yolk and miso butter, and the steak with mushrooms and farro. The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the scallion pancake (it was a tad too dry and I wish it was flaky instead of crispy) but everything else was fantastic!! The sweet potatoes tasted like a dessert because of the miso; almost like caramel. The steak was cooked very well and went perfectly with the creamy green goddess dressing and flavorful mushrooms. The focaccia was also so yummy with the whipped ricotta! All around a spectacular meal and I can't wait to go back! The prices did add up ($180 for 2 people, for 3 glasses of wine and 4 dishes) but the ambiance and vibe and food made it worth it.

I was so impressed with Bar Jabroni, it blew my expectations out of the water. We went in for a couple glasses of wine after taking a walk in the neighborhood however, when we saw the food menu we decided to try a few items as everything sounded much more exciting than what we were would expect for typical wine bar cuisine. We ordered the romanesco, beef tartare, oysters, and pappardelle. The food was amazing. The service is top notch as well - we sat at the bar and the server was very friendly and even changed out our plates and utensils between our starters and main dish. The space is cozy and inviting with bar seating as well as multiple tables on each side of the room. We'll definitely be back to try more menu items!

Arriving at Bar Jabroni for an early, weekday dinner reservation I'll admit that I wasn't taken with the decor. An article on Resy had described the space as "beautiful" and it was not. It looks like what it is, a small storefront restaurant in the Lower Haight which, when the restaurant is less than full, felt cold and not particularly inviting. But wait until the place is full (momentarily); it becomes an entirely different animal. I had another problem with that Resy article: they described Bar Jabroni as having a "relatively low" markup on wines. Looking for a bottle of something Pinot-equivalent we had difficulty coming in under $75. Finally, tiring of the search, we opted for a $90 bottle of red. The wines here may have a "relatively low" markup but it sure didn't feel like it. But let's get to the point of that 5-star rating. The food. The menu is a fever-dream combination of offerings, nothing I'd sit at home imagining I'd order for that night's dinner. A sampling of our order looked like this (with menu descriptions far more detailed):* Kampachi Crudo ($18), Spring Onion & Date Pancake ($16), Sweet Potatoes with egg; and Gnudi ($28)Each dish was a knockout, featuring unexpected and delightful flavor profiles. I really enjoy dining out on food that I can't and don't make at home. Bar Jabroni's fare qualifies. The kitchen here is the shining star. Bar Jabroni is a hip little restaurant with every table full on a weeknight evening and all looking and sounding like they were having a blast. Though billed here on yelp as a "wine bar" it was the food that enchanted me. I think I'd enjoy sampling everything on their (ever-changing) menu.

Bar Jabroni has a really fun ambiance and an appeal to it. Definitely make sure to make reservations as it may be hard to do walk-in. My friends and I share some small plates and they were tasty but I would say it is quite pricey for the quantity of what you're getting. So just keep that in mind if you're coming in hungry.

I discovered Bar Jabroni through SF's Best Restaurants list, and let me tell you, it absolutely lives up to the hype--and then some. Walking in with sky-high expectations, I was floored by how this spot managed to exceed them. The food here is exceptional, and honestly, I have zero criticisms about the dishes themselves. If I had to nitpick, the only downside would be that there's just one restroom, which can lead to a bit of a wait when the restaurant is packed (and it often is).We made our reservation a month in advance for a 5:30 PM dinner on a Saturday, and it was worth every bit of planning. For the two of us, we indulged in the following dishes:1. Beef Tartare, Kuri Squash Mayo, Pickled Bartlett Pear, Toasted Hazelnut, and Shiso Oil (4.5/5)This dish was artfully composed, with the tartare perfectly complemented by the sweet and tangy pickled pear and nutty hazelnuts. A near-perfect starter.2. Fried Japanese Sweet Potatoes, Cured Egg Yolk, Crème Fraîche - Caviar, and Miso Brown Butter (5/5)The standout of the night. The sweet potatoes, glazed to perfection and dipped in a luscious mix of cured egg yolk and miso brown butter, were divine. Every bite was a revelation, and I would order this again in a heartbeat.3. Grilled Romanesco Cauliflower, Harissa, House Yogurt, Charred Dates, and Carrot Vinaigrette (5/5)Another must-try. The cauliflower was grilled to perfection, and the combination of harissa and charred dates brought an explosion of flavors. I couldn't stop eating this dish.4. Spring Onion and Date Pancake, Golden Sesame, Whipped Feta (4/5)This pancake was a creative take on savory-sweet, with the whipped feta adding a creamy richness. It was delicious but not as mind-blowing as the other dishes.5. Gnudi, Mushroom Duxelles, Broccolini, Butternut Squash, Taleggio Fonduta, Pickled Mustard, and Chive Oil (4/5)Rich, hearty, and perfectly balanced. The gnudi was pillowy soft, and the flavors of the mushroom and taleggio fonduta made for a comforting dish.6. Kuri Squash Basque Cheesecake, Winter Citrus, Brown Sugar Crumble (4/5)A delightful end to the meal. The cheesecake was creamy and flavorful, with the winter citrus adding a refreshing brightness to the rich dessert. If I weren't so full, I would've ordered an encore of the Fried Japanese Sweet Potatoes and Grilled Romanesco Cauliflower--they were just that good.Bar Jabroni isn't just a meal; it's an experience. The thoughtful, creative dishes and exceptional flavors will stay with you long after your visit. Just make your reservation early, as this spot is in high demand--and for good reason.

TLDR: food is amazing but service needs improvement. Came here on a Wednesday night with a reservation for a table of 4 for 7:30pm. Checked in with the host at 7:25pm and was told the table was wrapping up. We didn't get seated until 7:55pm. This was the most disappointing part of my experience as my party was hungry and waiting in the cold for our reservation that wasn't honored in a timely manner.Food was delicious but came out quite slowly. Two of my friends finished their glasses before the first appetizer came out. It def didn't help that we were already super hungry at this point :(We ordered:- Kampachi Crudo (4/5): light and fresh especially will the honey crisp apple but just didn't quite hit the spot. - Shigoku Oysters (4/5): small oysters on the sweeter end- Spring Onion pancake (5/5): so crispy and well paired with the whipped feta!- Grilled Cauliflower (5/5): had nice little char on the cauliflowers and paired well with the yogurt dip- Rainbow Trout (5/5): skin was panfried well and fish was buttery. The aioli sauce was delicious!- Grilled Coulotte Steak (4/5): flavor of the dish was great but I was not a fan of the steak's texture. The blistered romanos were probably my fav part of the dish, very crunchy!Great wine selection by the bottle but limited wine by the glass. On the pricier end compared to other wine bars in the city. Our host was attentive - periodically filled our waters and checked in to see if we wanted more glasses of wine. The ambience is nice but it's very loud.Would not come back anytime soon.
