The pastries are so yummy at Baires! I can't remember what they were called, but one had quince jam on it and the other had dolce de leche, and both had custard. The quince was such a unique flavor, really good. And I love dolce de leche. I wish I ordered another one to go for later!Service was great, guy behind the counter was helpful. I ordered coffee and he explained what the accompanying bit of orange juice was for. Ambience is really nice, clean and fresh. The pastries are out in a serve-yourself display similar to Paris de Baguette. Makes it fun to look at them all before deciding. I'm sure we'll be back to try more!

This place was just OK, I'd like to give them another shot but the first impression wasn't great. Went on a weekend late afternoon and the place was pretty full. But even though the seats were filled up, it still felt empty since it's a large space with high ceilings and it's not very cozy. Like getting pastries in a bank lobby. Many of the pastries were not available which is understandable since they were closing soon. They had a quince tart which is not something you often find so had to try that and of course an empanada, they had few available so I got the bacon and cheese one.Service wasn't super friendly and when I went back to ask for another spoon I got the "I'm doing you a huge favor" look. The owner came by to check on us and he was definitely super friendly and engaging, but the folks behind the counter were not.The quince pastry was unfortunately a let down, very dense and not flavorful. The pastry itself was too doughy. The empanada was ok but not flaky enough. I want to give them another shot, but I had heard glowing reviews of this place and maybe had too high expectations. But even if I had gone in blind, I would have still been underwhelmed.

I was not impressed.Staff is not friendly. Decor is generic and building has cavernous feeling rather that cozy setting one expects from the bakery.I tried several pastries and they all tasted the same. The dough was flaky and well laminated however, all custards had boring and monotone sticky sweet flavor.I never tried Submarino drink before and will not again unless I confirm that is made in authentic manner with dark chocolate. This version tasted like Swiss Miss because owners used cheap milk chocolate candy. Also, a sqqerver told me to mix it and then ask her about a spoon she almost begrudgingly produced a toy like spoon which would not reach the bottom of the glass where the chocolate was Cheese and ham sandwich was the biggest disappointment. It tested like Safeway ham and Velveeta cheese carelessly slapped together.Three pastries, one cheese sandwich, two drinks plus tip came to $42. It didn't worth it to me.

Pretty new Argentina cafe and bakery at Redwood city. The place is spacious. I think it has too much empty spaces. They have pastries, fresh juice, tea, coffee and empanadas. It was not busy when we arrived. We ordered steak empanadas, dolce de leche and cafe latte. The empanadas is yummy. The dolce de leche is not too sweet which is good. The pastries is so crunchy. The latte is ok. It is interesting that latte is served with orange juice. Some improvement like more choices of milk will be great. For utensil they only have plastic spoon. No knife nor fork. Service is pretty good.

Fun little Argentinian bakery in Downtown RWC! I ordered a variety of pastries which you don't see elsewhere featuring dulce de leche (which was delicious and not overly sweet) and quince jam (also not commonly seen in pastries in this area). Also grabbed a banana licuado with oatmilk -- again not overly sweet, super creamy and delicious oat flavor. Recommend the oatmilk option over the regular milk option as it really enhances the drink and brings out the best of the banana and cream. Service was quick and efficient and they provided a nice pizza-style box to take out my pastries in. Definitely stop by if you're looking for something different from your usual patisserie!

Baires (bai-res) Bakery & Cafe - a classic portmanteau on Buenos Aires, Argentina. The space:There is plenty of table space throughout the shop - there is even a lounge area further towards the back with a couple of single-seat sofas. If you are coming alone, there is bar space to the left of the store; however, most of the seating seems to be meant for groups of 4+. If you don't mind sitting near others, this might be the place for you!As far as outlets go, you will be able to find an outlet on the right side of the store (about 8 available that I saw), as well as one towards the back and perhaps a couple in the floor (unsure if these ones are available for use though). If you WFH, I can see this being a great spot to be since they are open 7am - 5pm. The store is well-tempered and has a sufficient amount of natural light coming in. I am open to updating my review once I confirm that wifi is available.Pastries & Coffee:As the store is new, their menu is still developing. At the time of my visit, they had smoothies as "coming soon" to their menu. Other offerings included a variety of Argentinian drinks and desserts. The pastry section operates just as a Paris Baguette or 85C Bakery - it is self-serve and you pay at the register. At the end of the pastry island, they offer a few delicacies in which you will need to ask for assistance to be able to order. Some pastries looked less baked than others, so I ended up with the berry creme-filled pastry which was OK.If you have food allergies, some pastries will have nuts that are stored in the same space as other non-nut pastries. For the coffee, I ordered an Americano which came piping hot (took a few minutes to cool) which tasted good. It didn't have too much flavor as it was only a tiny bit sour, so there is room for improvement, but otherwise no complaints. Other drinks included the typical assortment of cappuccino, lattes, etc. At the counter, there are coffee packs available for purchase.Overall:A great addition to the downtown Redwood City area with a refreshing work atmosphere, friendly staff, good coffee, and a mix of sweet/savory Argentinian baked goods. Although there is room for improvement, I can see this place being a hit once they get their bearings.

We decided to try this bakery after seeing them on Instagram. It's a very big location with plenty of space to sit and enjoy coffee and treats. The set up is like Paris Baguette. You have to serve yourself. Personally I'm not a big fan of this type of setup. I don't trust others to be clean . The quince and leche we're ok. They made a sticky mess in the bag. I should have asked for them to be placed in a box. Or maybe they should have known that already. We also tried the prosciutto and cheese empanada.and the bacon and egg empanada. The bacon didn't really have any eggs at all. The other one was salty and cheesey. They were probably frozen from a box. It was ok but nothing that worth a return visit.

The dulce de leche filling was AMAZING! The pastry dough was tender and flaky on all three items. The cafe is cute and open with tons of natural light and several small tables. We will definitely be back to try their lunch items!

I love the empanadas here. They're the perfect size for my mouth and are probably the best empanadas I've ever tasted and I am quite the empanada connoisseur. Thank you for the delicious food.
