Atami Sushi Bar & Grill

Super low key sushi place in the Marina. They have 1 semi private set of tables so I think it'd be kinda cute to go for some occasion. They basically only do sushi here -- no noodles or meat dishes. All the food is just made by 1 guy and there is only 1 lady serving so it's a bit slow, but not horrible because the place is small to begin with. The portion sizes are pretty small for all the sushi, which is nice for trying out a bunch of things. But be prepared for that.The vegetable tempura was just alright -- the oil they used to fry the tempura was super clean and I really appreciated that, but the breading wasn't as crispy. But they used interesting veggies like red bell pepper, and shiso peppers. The seared ahi tuna was overall yummy but the fish was a bit fishy (which was honestly surprising bc all the other sushis that we ordered with tuna didn't have that).The special rolls we got were all really yummy. I liked yellow jack the best because it had cucumber and mint leaf that really cut through the fatty fish and avocado flavour. We really focused on yellowtail and tuna based sushi (cuz those are low key the only raw fish I like). The fish was pretty fresh. I actually ended up liking maple leaf (it had salmon, tuna, and mango) quite a lot even though it had ingredients I'm a little picky about.The miso soup here was extraordinary. It was the perfect level of saltiness and strength of the miso flavours.

Located in a busy area there is a hidden gem with parking in the back is this excellent sushi restaurant.If you know your sushi or anyone new is trying to enjoy sushi or sashimi this is the place to go..Many varieties to enjoy from raw, seared or cooked dishes, please consider giving it a try because you won't be disappointed.

An absolute gem! My friend and I were looking for a new spot for sushi that we hadn't tried yet and were so glad we found Atami. It was unassuming at first but highly delivered. We went around 5:45 and we were the first ones inside but it quickly became packed with not an open seat left. Everything we tried was soooo delicious and slightly different than your normal menu (we ordered chef specials- they also have the normal go-tos). Prices were reasonable. Highly recommend!

Don't over look- with a bunch of other options atami is the best for quality family owned, calm and cozy. The owners are meticulous and the rolls are fabulous- fresh and real.

Such a cute gem, tucked into the city.. the restaurant was on the emptier side as we came in pretty late, but the decor and table spacing was very comfortable and clean. The sashimi + all the rolls were delicious! A great date night spot for sushi with the kindest most informative service. Thank you for a great experience, we had a great time!

An eloquent cute sushi place that tucks in the middle of Octavia and cough st in Marina. The ambiance is just perfect for a single night dinner or a surprised dinner date. The Chef has an incredible art making of the rolls that felt like the rolls just melted in my mouth. I ordered the Chu toro nigiri and it tastes so fresh. Also, I added the Maple leaf and yellow jack - Chef special roll and I am speechless!Highly recommend!

Fish quality was high. Rice was done well. Also enjoyed the authentic green tea. Free parking One star off for the wait. The server was very nice though

Server was absolutely horrible and somewhat of a bitch she refused to answer any of my questions about the food and at the end said that i was annoying , so end of story fuck this place
