My friend of 30 years and I meet in the city once a month for dinner, we are both locals and it's a monthly ritual. We have been going to BLVD near the Embarcadero for over 20 years as part of our monthly meetup. Yesterday we attended the Amy Sherald SF Moma art exhibit. We made our walk towards our usual restaurant but we were early and found Angler was open at 4:30pm and we headed there instead. We were undecided about whether we wanted to sit in the bar area or try to grab a reservation. We spoke with the Host and they had an opening at 5 PM but it would only allow us an hour and 15 minutes to dine. He was extremely gracious and communicated that it might not be enough time, but he would put our name down and we could sit at the bar and decide. We made our way to the bar and found two open spots. The bartender quickly introduced himself and offered us a sample of his favorite red wine, one he highly recommended. We selected two glasses of red wine. The wine selection overall was extraordinary! We backtracked a bit and also had ordered a glass of champagne and a dirty martini from their HH menu. (followed by our wine) We aren't heathens :)We decided to stay for dinner at the bar and vibed to the absolutely awesome music playing in the background. Next, we ordered the Meijer lemon salad and the bread rolls. It sounded very simple on the menu, but when our salad and rolls arrived, we were delighted with the foods presentation and the impactful flavor of this very simple salad beautifully presented with a mixture of greens and a salad dressing that we will never forget. The bread arrived in a cast skillet with a side of butter that was perfectly salted. Even the sprinkles of sea salt topped on the bread was pleasure to bite into. As we reviewed the menu, our bar staff communicated there was a special item not on the menu. It was a crab rice dish with salmon roe topped on the rice. We were each going to order one, but the staff popped into our conversation and recommended we only have one as it's a hearty dish and instead accompany with several sides of vegetables. Dining staff was delightful in guiding our dining experience and making recommendations and they were absolutely 100% on point. We felt we had a crew committed to making sure we had a superb dining experience. We ordered one crab rice entree and an order of brussel sprouts and a potato appetizer. We were so pleased with our entree. The presentation of the dish was so beautiful that we didn't want to get into our food! One of the best entrées I've had in a very, very long time. The crab was fresh and already pulled apart so nothing messy to deal with. Salmon roe topping on the rice was unusual and the combo of the rice+crab together made for a flavorful combo. Cooked to perfection as was the perfectly baked potato and brussel sprouts. By now, the restaurant had filled up and the bar was full and lively, and the couple next-door recommended we have the ice cream dessert. We were already full and our bartender recommended we get half an order which we did. We asked for an extra side of caramel on the side (highly recommend) and the presentation of this dessert in a glass cup was beautiful and consistent with what our dining experience had been thus far.Absolutely perfect dining experience overlooking the city and bridge. Rich, the Manager introduced himself to us on our way out. All around superb service from this staff. As I waited by the door for my car, I could hear my favorite musical artist playing in the background - simply sublime way to end the evening (did I mention the music selection is AMAZING too?)My friend and I agreed that this is our new forever place and we are coming back as often as we can. What an absolute joy to have discovered Angler and their culinary perfection.

The food was great, but service was shockingly slow. We waited around 15 minutes to get our order taken, and even then our waitress kept trying to "give us another minute" every time someone paused for two seconds. We felt incredibly rushed and like she didn't want to be there. We also had to walk to the water station to refill our waters ourselves because we were in the corner and didn't see that much traffic from the waiters. And one of the times a waitress poured water for us, she spilled quite a bit on the table. For the food - everything was delicious, but it was all something that I have found elsewhere for just as good (but cheaper). Surprisingly, I felt the salad was the best item. It was perfectly dressed and unlike other simple salads I've had elsewhere. The soft serve was also wonderful and the toppings were unique. While we did not get it, they have a lunch special for $45 that looks to be a great deal. I would probably return just for that, but not for dinner.

Had an incredible belated Valentine's Day dinner at Angler! The whole experience was amazing, from the warm ambiance to the outstanding service. My top favorites were the Embered Oysters with Smoked Chili Butter--perfectly balanced with a smoky, spicy kick--and the sea bream, which was incredibly fresh and flavorful. And I'm still thinking about the sundae and coconut sorbet--such a perfect sweet ending!Everything was absolutely delicious, and I'd love to come back for another special occasion. Highly recommend!

Came here with my boyfriend for Valentine's day and wow! What a good dinner. We did the chef's choice. Good: - Super pretty place, incredibly modern - More than enough food - I thought I'd leave hungry but I was very very full at the end- The ice cream was so so tasty at the end, the cacao nibs + caramel sauce were perfect- Loved the bread and the kelp better - so sweet yet subtle- The fried chicken was so good! I usually don't like wings but this was so soft and easy to eat - The seaweed and tartar was so good, the seafood was flavorful Bad: - I did not like the skate wing - it tasted a little weird and fishy and raw, maybe just not my taste Overall I feel so lucky I had the chance to come to this Michelin Star, it was a 2.5 hour experience and was a great ambiance for catching up with my partner

Anglers 4 consecutive Michelin stars is well reasoned when you enter their restaurant as you quickly see the magical blend of upscale dinning with touches of rustic charm. The open kitchen is mesmerizing to look at with their open fire cooking system. The service was incredibly thorough and guided us through the entire menu. The lobster buns were the most unique lobster rolls I've had as they were a play on potato salad but creating a cool tangy contrast with the crispy buttery buns. The oysters were also incredibly fresh and tasted wonderful. Anglers certainly has the coastal charm with their location and food.

If you're looking for a dining experience that's equal parts luxurious and innovative, Angler is an absolute must-visit. From the moment you step into the beautifully designed space, you know you're in for something special. The menu is seafood-focused but offers a variety of unique dishes that are sure to surprise and delight your palate. This time, we started with the Bluefin Tuna, which was beautifully prepared and melted in our mouths. The freshness and simplicity of this dish allowed the quality of the fish to shine through. Next came the Scallops Grilled Over Coals, and wow -- these were a revelation. Perfectly caramelized on the outside while tender and buttery inside, they had a subtle smokiness that elevated their natural sweetness. The star of the evening, however, was the Whole Sea Bream, Grilled Over the Open Fire. Cooked to perfection, the fish was juicy, flaky, and infused with the most incredible smoky flavor. It was served with a light sauce that complemented the fish without overpowering it. We also ordered the Angler Potatoes with Smoked Butter, which are an absolute must every time we dine here. Crispy on the outside, pillowy on the inside, and coated in smoky, buttery goodness. For dessert, we couldn't resist the Sundae and Pecan Pie, both which provided the perfect sweet ending to our meal. The service was impeccable -- our server was knowledgeable, attentive, and made excellent recommendations tailored to our preferences. The ambiance is cozy yet refined, with warm lighting and views of the open-fire hearth adding a dramatic flair. Overall, Angler is more than just a meal -- it's an experience. Whether you're a seafood lover or just appreciate masterful cooking, this place is worth every penny. Make a reservation, and prepare to be wowed!

Enjoyed the set menu for a special birthday! They surprised us with a handwritten birthday card and a candle. The black cod with broth was tender, not too salty, and the skin was nice and crispy. I selected the set menu starting with the Washington oysters with seaweed vinegar. They were quite creamy. The half sea bream was juicy and came with a Thai curry coconut cream sauce and refreshing lettuce and herbs with a miso dressing. I would definitely try the marshmallow soft serve with homemade caramel sauce and chocolate nibs! Yummy! The mandarin sorbet was very tart but refreshing.

Overall, exceptional food and a great space but just a bit rough around the edges in service for a Michelin star.Went in for our anniversary and we opted for the "cook for you" option sounds bespoke but in fact, it's just a set menu. Weirdly, they don't share this menu with you at the beginning and you're sort of left wondering how many courses it is? Is this an appetizer or a main? - anyway would be great to know ahead of time what was coming? Also, the timing seemed a bit strange with significant gaps between courses, and then other courses seeming to come right on top of each other - I said something at one point to the server, and that turned our friendly service into something that felt more officious - I guess that criticism didn't go down well. Finally, they have two single stall bathrooms for the whole restaurant which meant a bit of congestion at the bathroom until one of the food runners told us about the secret bathroom behind the door in the lobby of the adjacent building. Twice I was in the bathroom when our food came to the table - I think it's normal that you would hold that until your guest came back because I missed the explanation of the food and it left my wife having to explain the dishes to me - the server never came back to follow up either. The food, on the other hand, was fantastic. Tough to go through all the courses, but in particular these huge oysters cooked in chili butter were unbelievable. Scallops were delicious. Tuna tartare was surprising and light with a fishy cracker, and even the coconut gelato to close the meal at the end was really luscious. The whole grilled fish was wonderful. but I wish their lemon grass sauce was a little more substantial. Potato with bernaise on the other hand was off the charts. And, that mole-like mushroom was really fantastic. The salad was fine, but maybe a little much and super bright. Trout sashimi was on this little fuzzy leaf, which was challenging texture wise.Overall, really excellent meal for the price - you get much pay for I think food wise - but would be even better if the service felt tighter.

My fiance made a reservation for dinner at Angler. It was a relatively busy evening for a Friday night. Angler, on the inside, was a nice upscale Michelin restaurant with a beautiful view of the SF bay bridge. We were seated quickly and our waiter walked us through the menu! They also knew it was our anniversary and welcomed us with a signed card from the staff which we appreciated. We ended up with just some oysters and the whole sea bream. Oysters were refreshing and great to start our course with. The sea bream was pretty good; the coconut sauce complimented the fish well. I did find a few bones though. We ended dinner with the soft serve and salted caramel drizzle, and that was probably the highlight of our experience at Angler! Who knew we'd enjoy a soft serve at a Michelin seafood restaurant the most. We were seated close to where the waiters would hang around and were able to hear what the wait staff would say. Looked like they were training someone new and had a lot to say to the guy. I'd request to sit further away if I can if I plan on coming back.

Angler is one of my fave go tos in the city. With a gorgeous view of the bay, you just can't go wrong with a visit here for lunch or dinner. For lunch, they offer a prix fixe menu consisting of oysters, a main entree (fish or chicken), and the most amazing sundae you will ever have. I'm a huge fan of their chicken which you can watch cooking in the visible kitchen. I love how seasoned their greens are and the sauce that the chicken comes with is excellent. The sundae is a must! It's served with this super buttery, smooth, caramel sauce that you just can't get enough of. At dinner time, there are tons of options to choose from or you can have the chef choose for you for $145/pp. Their menu rotates but I've never had anything here I didn't like. Perfect for locals and out of towners...I'm such a fan. 5 solid stars.
