We stopped here for our second time in about a week. We did NOT share the omakase this time we both got our own. This week has a variation with baby lobster and some incredibly tender toro. The restaurant does close between 3-5pm so make sure to pop in if you're late lunchers like we are

Our friends took us here for a omakase dinner! They said they frequent Amami often and even sometimes plan their trip to SF around eating here. All four of us got the Omakase set that came with 10 pieces of delicious nigiri! There wasn't a single piece on here that I did not like. Every single nigiri was perfection and for $42 dollars, it's a steal! The quality of the fish was great too, very fresh! I will definitely be coming back to try their other items!

Went here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon and there was no wait :) my friend got the chirashi & I got the 10 piece omakase and, WOW, it was delicious! The pieces were pretty big and it was fresh and flavorful. Service was good and kept refilling our tea which was nice. There's only street parking.Other than that, I would come back here :)

First timer. The Philadelphia roll is BANGING, it's so good. Gyoza was good but wish it was crispier. The cashier was nice enough to give us 3 free scoops of ice cream at the end of our meals. Will be coming back to try different rolls.

Amami's omakase has garnered significant media acclaim as I first heard about them through Instagram a few years back. Though, this isn't your traditional omakase experience; at Amami, the nigiri portions turn heads with their comically large cuts of fish, nearly twice the size of the rice beneath. The presentation is striking and challenges the usual balance of nigiri but it remains a big reason why Amami has carved out its niche in the crowded SF sushi scene. My boyfriend and I arrived around 7 pm and were seated pretty promptly. The service started out high with comp green tea, a rare but welcome offering in the city these days, and we commenced our sushi date with some hamachi Kama. The Kama was standard but not memorable -- typical but far from the evening's highlight. That honor goes to the omakase (no surprise here). The selection includes toro and negitoro alongside several blowtorched pieces and specialty items, all accompanied by freshly grated wasabi. Every piece was excellent. To borrow from Orwell's Animal Farm, "all fish were created equal but some were more equal than others." The negitoro, mashed in texture, was initially questionable but turned out to be one of our favorites. Considering its prime location and caliber of ingredients, I'd expect a steep price tag -- $70 or even more perhaps. Yet, Amami delivers a high-end experience without breaking the bank, proving that in rare cases, you CAN have your cake and eat it too. It's not a purists omakase, but for anyone looking for a memorable meal that pushes boundaries of tradition, Amami packs that punch

Was craving sushi for an early dinner/ late lunch. We showed up around 2 pm and got seated immediately. Ordered the monkfish, the omakase set and 2 rolls. Everything came out quickly and the fish tasted fresh. Love that they give the option of two wasabis (fresh and fake). Our meals also came with miso soup. This spot is always pretty standard and reliable. Can always count on Amami for a consistent meal.

Ginormous portions of delicious quality fish. Not many people there in the afternoon. Parking may be easier in the peninsula, but both are equally delicious and have attentive staff.

You've probably heard of this chain. There are a few of them around the SF/peninsula area. They are known for their affordable Omakase but also known for their not so great service. I feel like all the Amami Bistros I've been to lack service. They always seem so understaffed or not attentive. I definitely go back because this place is close to my house, prices are fair, menu has a good selection, and it tastes good. It just takes some time to get their attention or refills. If you're not in a hurry, then this is good casual spot to grab some sushi. They also have complementary ice cream for dessert. You do get fresh wasabi with your sashimi too!

Great local spot! Sushi was fresh and plated beautifully. Me and the wife enjoyed the salmon kama to start, and we also got the dragon roll, Amami special roll, and the melt in your mouth roll! They also have an omakase menu to try next time!

For $42, you can't ask for better than the chef's special omakase ! They have generous pieces of sashimi and even include high end bites including toro and hotate. The flavors also pack a huge punch- with some sashimi seared with a torch or with extra accruements to heighten the fish. I have gone twice in the past month since I realized this location was so convenient! I also love treating myself to some Santa Barbara sushi and amamebi- for the Amaebi, you can choose whether the shrimp heads are fried or in a soup. The feel is cozy and neighborhood like, and it does get busy for weekend dinner so make sure to make a reservation! Can't wait for my next visit!
