Oh my! Where do I start?!We discovered altoVino when my college friends were visiting me in SF. Not only the food was delicious, the atmosphere was so cozy and welcoming that we stayed there for hours chatting and enjoying ourselves.Food: 5/5The evening started strong with Spuma di Funghi appetizer. It was creamy and rich perfectly harmonizing the flavor of truffle with the freshness of herbs. It was served with warm oil toasted bread which was the perfect crunch next to the smooth creamy texture of the mousse. From the pasta dishes we tried out Cappellacci which was filled with seasonal flavors of squash. The addition of pomegranates and hazelnuts really brought in some edge with a texture. But the wow of the evening was the creamy mushroom sauce tagliatelle with shaved truffle on top. I think this dish might have been an addition for the SF restaurant week.Lastly, for dessert we tried out Panna Cotta and Zabaione with poached pears. Needless to mention that both tasted fantastic.Presentation: 5/5All the dishes were plated neatly, effortlessly and tastefully. We did feel like we were in a high-end restaurant.Service: 5/5Service was amazing! Our waiter has been very attentive towards us but not in an overwhelming way. He explained many of the dishes beforehand and all his recommendations were on spot. He brought us extra bread which we really appreciated. At last, when we paid the bill and were captivated with the conversation of old friends, he didn't pressure us to leave. He even encouraged our stay with constantly refilling our glasses of water.Atmosphere: 5/5A cozy corner in SF. We loved everything about the atmosphere. It was not too chic, which made it feel more relaxed and approachable. The hall was not loud and it was perfect for reconnecting with old friends.Value: 5/5I would say the restaurant is on the pricier side, but the quality deserves the value.Overall Rating: 5/5

I had a craving for their Mushroom Truffle appetizer and was lucky enough to grab 1 of the last tables that evening due to the JP Morgan event earlier this month. The mushroom truffle was heavenly delish paired with the fresh, warm, toasted crostini! Timely additional small portions of toasty warm crostini magically appear on the table to help you try to finish this appetizer that is probably truly meant for at least 3 or 4 people to share! :) This is my FAV menu item here! It is consistently amazing! I was very disappointed that they didn't have the Red Wine, nor the Orecchiette entree that I ordered last month. Ugh! Creatures of habit have issues with 1st world problems! Ha!I had to pick an entree, so I chose the Tagliatelle. It was a tasty large portion and had a lot of meat. I had to take most of it home because I had practically inhaled the Truffle Mushroom appetizer! The entree was slightly salty. Although this entree was "good", I wouldn't order it again. The ambiance, service and restaurant team was friendly, attentive and wonderful! Can't wait to return to try some other entrees! Thank You! :)

AltoVino had a very nice ambiance and amazing service from the bartenders, host, and servers. We ordered the paparadelle, spuma di funghi, and la fiorentina.Spuma di funghi was hands down my favorite!!! It was such a delightful appetizer! I would probably come back just to have this again. I loved how flavorful the mousse wasLa fiorentina: unfortunately it came out last and when I was full so it was no longer appealing to me. However, the leftovers I brought to lunch the next day was such a treat. If you order this, maybe ask if they can bring the food all together rather than one by one. Paparadelle: I didn't care too much for this. It was okay, but I wouldn't order it again.Other than that, this was a pretty good restaurant. Would definitely come again!

This is a restaurant we've been meaning to try for years, and now we're kicking ourselves for waiting so long! The fried olives, mushroom mousse, and ragu pasta are absolute must-orders. Pair it with a glass of wine and savor the cozy, candlelit ambiance. I'm already dreaming about our next visit!

Delicious! I made reservations online which was very easy. When we got there, we had a choice to sit wherever we wanted so it was really nice. The offered inside or outside but we chose inside and it was lovely. Everyone was very friendly and answered all our questions and made excellent recommendations as well.I knew I wanted the pappardelle and I was not disappointed. It was so delicious! I want to go back to get it again already. My husband got the garganelli which was also very tasted. The pasta was cooked so perfectly and made everything better. The n'duja appetizer was also very good. The toast was so crispy. The wine suggested was also delicious. Everything was so good and I would definitely recommend!!

Food was delicious however the service was quite inconsistent. Thus the 3 stars. We waited more than 30 min for our main course; however the table next to us who ordered the same main dish after us got their 10 min before us. When we asked our waiter why, his response was unhelpful and made no sense - "we are coursing it out". We almost left with eating the last dish but then it came. Food 4 stars- raw halibut exquisite taste - pappardelle bolognese classic tasty - local cod the one that took forever was very good but shouldn't have taken that longWill we be back? Maybe. Perhaps it was an off night.

I came here with my family and had a great experience! I had never been here and wasn't quite sure what to expect since I personally haven't heard a lot about this place. We got the corn ricotta pasta, pappardelle and spaghettoni and all were absolutely delicious. But where I think this place really shines is their appetizers!! We got the ascolani, spuma di funghi, bagna caoda and sardines and we couldn't pick a favorite. You can't go wrong with their apps!

Went here with my partner around Christmas. Small, intimate sitting. Friendly and attentive service. Food-wise, as a bolognese fiend, I dare say, they have one of the hands down, BEST bolognese sauce ever made. Super decadent and full of flavor. We will definitely be back.
