Alioto Lazio Fish Company

Was in San Francisco for a few days and my friend and I agreed to go 50/50 on some fresh crab. I call the morning of to place our order with the wonderful lady who guided us through the purchase when we arrived. They have a great dynamic atmosphere and a lot of other items to choose from. Pretty much right out of the tank to be cleaned and boiled. We ended up having a fantastic meal and was happy to purchase fresh Dungeness from such a local, historic company. Thanks to this business for providing us with a positive experience. This is how my friend and I like to roll.

Fresh Dungeness Crab, an SF staple seafood...get it here!Family owned, prompt with service, and clean facilities, Alioto Lazio never disappoints. They have a good amount of driveway space for cars to stop by to get some live seafood. Boy, is the seafood FRESH! The tanks are always clean and they package the crabs very well. I have to say, I'll be coming back here for more crab if I'm in the area!

An amazing company with an amazing family history serving and selling the freshest dungeoness crab and lobsters. They do close super early at 2pm so get there early. Love this place.

This fish market was on my list for a while now but we've never managed to make it there during their hours. Make sure to call in advance to see what they have for the day before making the trip down. They are only open until noon on Saturdays. We made it 10 minutes before their closing time and thank goodness they still let us buy a crab. Inside the market was exactly how a fish market would look like. They had open water tanks with lobster and crabs inside. They also had prepackaged fish available for sale. The staff there was super friendly and helped us pack up a crab and took the time to explain that this batch came from Canada. He also kindly let us know that the local sf ones won't be in season until late November to December. I cooked the crab immediately after I got home and it was some of the sweetest crab meat I've ever had. The price was a bit steep for $12.95 per pound which I spent $30 for one crab but worth it in my opinion. Can't wait to come back for more fresh fish next time!

This is a hidden gem. Don't tell the tourists about this.Even though this place is near Fisherman's Wharf, it's a little off the beaten path, on Jefferson St., closer to the Hyde Street Pier. It looks a little industrial, so the tourists tend to walk right past it. But we locals know what this is about. I went there for one thing -- DUNGENESS CRAB!They do sell other things there. Take a look at other reviews. Current crab prices are $11/pound, so I got a cooked, chilled, ready to eat 1 1/2 pound crab for only $17. That's a gourmet meal all in itself! Try to find a better meal in the Fisherman's Wharf area for $17. A meal at In-n-Out will cost you about the same.I can't wait to go back. I'm thinking about maybe next week... Yeah, next week!

Been getting crab here for years. We call ahead for crab that is cooked, cracked and cleaned and it's always soooo good. This is the spot.

Came with 3 live crabs, cooked them and had the most incredibly delicious crabs. Fresh, sweet, and packed with meat! I took a picture to show my sister in New Jersey. We've been driving up from Morgan Hill (80 miles south of SF) for many years to buy live crabs when available..NEVER disappointed. Now we live in Menlo Park and drive is only 45 miles each way! looking forward to many more crabs while in season.I had to write this review, my first time, after demolishing these crabs. Angela and her sister can be totally trusted if they tell you the crabs and fishes are fresh! Today I also bought petrale sole and some frozen calamari rings..tomorrow's dinner! Can't wait. My family was coming for Boxing Day dinner. We traditionally have crab soup, and I was worried about the Dungeness crab issue. I walked down to the wharf on the 26th and picked up two pounds of what turned out to be delicious crab from Washington, I think. The staff at Alioto Lazio's were friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I made Emeril Lagasse's Crab and Corn Chowder. Everyone agreed it was the best we have had in 20+ years! I treated myself to an equally enjoyable crab omelet the next morning. So happy to have discovered this great crab resource so close to home!

Amazing service year after year! Something I look forward to every Christmas Eve! Old fashioned cracked and cleaned is the way to go!
