This is a nice little Italian sandwich, gelato, and grocery shop. It's not as fancy as some near by but the food is great. They are quick on the sandwiches and upturn pay at the register. Seating outside is limited but that is part of the enjoyment. I have only had a few sandwiches and gelato but I have enjoyed everything I have gotten. Groceries are reasonable. I do take people here if they are in the mood for a sandwich near North beach

On one of the most scorching days in SF, I was craving gelato and decided to check out Alimento after seeing it rated as one of the top 5 spots. The line was long and the space felt a bit stuffy, but I pushed through because I couldn't resist the promise of great gelato.Alimento offers a fun variety of flavors, making it hard to choose. I ended up with Spumoni and Hazelnut. Both flavors were balanced and not overly sweet. I liked how Hazelnut had a creamy, rich, nutty taste. The gelato here does melt pretty quickly, so proceed with caution! Besides gelato, they also sell Italian pastries and imported goods, which adds to the charm of the place. Definitely worth a visit for gelato if you visit North Beach!

While walking to my chosen lunch spot, I kept noticing how many "new" businesses that weren't there between 2020 and 2022. I used to take my goddaughter, the furry variety, along this route and there were so many boarded doors and windows. As I walked, I took photos of places that piqued my interest. On my walk back after lunch, I decided to window shop at their gelato, especially after seeing Genevieve Y's (https://www.yelp.com/user_details?userid=_aSs5dSAabuwnXUGBPzASw) photo of spumoni that I saw a few days earlier. I saw an item that might interest her but another flavor caught my eyes. I tried the hazelnut brownie gelato (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=H1rySEB3-C5COE2aglmvSw), medium in a cup. She told me that the small size was not available. As she scooped my gelato, I wandered to the rear counter and saw another menu board (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=DNHu8CwQQL9Qwx97vfTQWg). I am saving this for a future visit in case something appeals to my stomach for a future lunch. I walked back to the front cashier area and she rung me up, offering seating in the back area in addition to the two sidewalk tables in front. I passed on her offer, paid for my gelato, and walked to my car. The hazelnut brownie was rich but the flavors seemed a bit muted and not bold. The brownie pieces didn't really stand out and the hazelnut didn't add much to it. I will probably try the lychee one next visit.The gal at the cashier was very nice and friendly, helping me with a smile throughout. It's great to see more businesses along this block open now, a stark improvement from the past few years.

When craving gelato at night, there aren't much to choose from in San Francisco. Thankfully, Alimento is open til midnight! Small little shop that sells gelato, sandwiches and pizza. They also sell corner store items like cigarettes and liquor as well. The Thai tea ice cream is my favorite. Parking here is tough so if you're out of the way, I recommended public transportation or ride share.

Creamy, tangy gelato! A perfect after a delicious Italian dinner. Choose from about 20 flavors. I chose the Lemon cookies and White Chocolate raspberry.I had no regrets! The combination was absolutely delicious!

The guy working here is super attractive! The gelato however was meh. Lots of great Italian stuff to purchase and they have a sandwich shop too

We popped in for gelato around 8:30pm on a Friday night. The gelato was good, though not extraordinary. The service was reasonably friendly. They did have a wide range of flavors of gelato to choose from. My daughter enjoyed her grasshopper pie gelato, and I thought my cookie dough gelato was decent.

This is the spot if you're craving a good, classic deli sandwich. There is limited seating, so the sandwiches are best eaten elsewhere (unless you can snag one of the few tables outside), but the food is good and worth coming back for!

Late night ice cream run One of the best Sorbet place I've tried yet! Lots of flavors and the texture plus flavor of all the flavors are so good! I would recommend getting a fruity flavor (mango!!). 2.5/5 stars cannoli was disappointing. It was stale. Everything was stale, even the filling. 5/5 stars Mango Sorbet. Taste so mango-ly and if you put chamoy and tajin to it, it'll taste like those mexican mango lollis!! So good! Definitely will be back for some sorbet! + they're open pretty late
