I lived in the area for 20 years and it hard to believe that I never reviewed this bakery which is wonderful, I really started to purchase bread from them on regular basis during covid where this was one of very few establishments that was open and I never stopped. They are large array of products from sweet, savory to of course all kinds of breads. They walnut is delicious but the classic baggette is just perfect and focaccia is of so yummy. There is no seats but plenty around Ferry Building. CC accepted Vegan bread available.Ingredients clearly marked on most of their breads.

Acme Bread Company (ABC) in the Ferry Building marketplace is a beautiful showcase of Acme Bread's best bakery products. ABC started baking in 1983, headquartered in Berkeley, and is generally a wholesaler selling to restaurants like Chez Panisse. Service at the Ferry Building is kind, patient, yet yields a gentle touch in moving a sometimes long line of customers. Good bread is my Kryptonite! Lol. ABC offers four different breads made with organic flours: Pain au Levain, Sweet Baguettes, Upstairs Bread, and Challah. Sprinkle in some other goodies like croissants, tarts, turnovers, puff pastries, ganache cookies among others. I'm there!I've been enjoying their PAIN AU LEVAIN for years and will pick it up any time I see it offered in markets like Whole Foods or Mollie Stones. Freshly sliced alone or slathered with fruity jam or creamy butter! And if you give it a toast - oh la la! Thinly sliced will make for a clean tasting, filling, and healthy sandwich. So it's a given when I'm at the Ferry Building I'll always go by Acme Bread to pick up a loaf of Pain au LevIn at a minimum. My other fav which I cannot find except at the Ferry Building location is their PAIN EPI. A beautifully sculpted stalk of pain leaves that you break off to eat alone or buttered generously. Their crusty exterior breaks into a lovely aroma of sweet fragrant, freshly baked goodness! Sometimes I'll break it open and stuff it with Brie, ham for a tiny sandwich bite! Bring this to gatherings, they will love you for it. Acme Bread Company (Ferry Building Marketplace) is excellent staple for freshly baked organic breads, other delicious offerings for home, picnic and/or group lunches. See you there!
