I've heard so much about Indian place from friends and had to bring my Indian friend who's very opinionated about his food.... And we have a winner! The good: - vegetarian butter curry, my friends favorite - we tried their special biryani with egg and it was very very unique. Full blast on flavor but if I had to do it again, I'd probably get the bone-in goat biryani as suggested by my first friend- service was top notch. Owner made us feel so welcomed and the place was well maintained. - mango lassi - lamb vindaloo was also good lol- pricing was fair, maybe even affordable The meh: - honestly nothing

Aaha is a great option for South Indian cuisine in the Mission. I feel your experience here is somewhat dependent on what you order, and I've tried quite a few of their dishes. Some of my favorites include: Tandoori Pomfret, Masala Fries, Paneer 65, and Malabar Fish Curry. All of these are tasty, cooked to perfection, well seasoned, and consistently fresh. They are also all extremely reasonably priced, ranging from $4 for a literal basket of fries, to $18 for the entire pomfret (it smiles back!).I'm not particularly fond of their biryanis, as I find the meats to often be over cooked (too soft) and over salted. Same for the tandoori meats. The dosas here are also good, but not quite at the level you might find in the South Bay. For what it is, though, they execute well. Come here if you are looking for good bang for your buck and have a hankering for nuanced Indian flavors, balanced spices, and food that is clearly cooked from the heart.

I wish I had taken a picture of the food, but it was so good!! The Lamb Vindaloo was a good amount of spicy, and everything was so flavorful! Get the mango lassi--you won't regret it. Casual ambiance and great service!

As informed by some friends, this is a South Indian spot, which is very different from North Indian. So, dishes on their menu that come from South India are fantastic, while traditionally North Indian dishes aren't as stellar. What to get here? Chicken 65! Unless you've been to Bangalore, you may not have heard of this; I certainly hadn't until recently. 65 is for the certain blend of spices. Super yummy, and Aaha knows how to fry up some crispy but super juicy pieces of chicken 65. Grilled fish: Tandoor pomfret. Very flavorful, tender meat. I tend to avoid grilled fish since many tend to make it dry, but this wasn't too dry and the seasoning and sauce on this would make up for any dry meat anyway. BTW the only excellent grilled fish I've had was in Monterey at Maligne if you're ever in the area.Lime soda (sweet or salty) ($5) is super good. Like, fresh limeade soda. No syrupy 7-up here! Try the real thing.Mango Lassi ($4) - solid, good portion.Dosas are served on a huge metal tray, which has great presentation value, though takes up alot of room on the table lol. Dosa was more spongey like Nigerian Injera. Accompanying sauces were just ok.Cheese naan ($3) - I was expecting paneer. This is filled with cheddar cheese, so it's basically an Indian quesadilla. Good on its own while a bit oily, but doesn't go as well with the rest of the Indian fare.Servers are very nice and gracious. Interior looks more like a grab and go, bare bones spot, and location is a block from the 16th/mission Bart spot, so, I mean, you know. District tea is super close, though, so you can be like me and grab some nice hot boba milk tea for dessert. Prices are super reasonable, with decent quantities. Sooo many delivery guys coming in and out of the restaurant (literally, like every 2min)--looks like alot of people are already in the know. Now that we are, this will be in our regular delivery rotation if we're in range (fingers crossed!).

I stopped by to try the pistachio vegetable kormaThey estimated 10 mins but it was done in 2 minutes. The food doesn't come with rice by default (costs extra). It was a little bit spicy (by my standards; I'm someone who has very low spice tolerance). But it was nice and flavorful, and salty but not in an unpleasant way. I was happy that there's some paneer in it. A little on the pricey side for my preference, but the food was still good.

Almost every dish has nuts! But nuts are NOT listed on the menu!! Bc I have a nut allergy (embarrassing ik) I'll probably never come back. The cheese garlic naan was really good, kinda like a garlic quesadilla. The fries were solid too. My friends liked the tikka masala the best! (It had nuts BOOO)

Casual spot for grub with friends, small little spot off Mission. Easy public transit.Staff is very friendly and nice, they definitely watched me choose the tip amount LOL but whatever.Food was okay. Mango lassi was thick, creamy, and a bit tart (in a good way). Chicken 65 was like Indian boneless wings-- quite good with the green sauce & lime, but the flavor wasn't outstanding.Chicken tikka masala was probably my favorite dish but it was really sweet compared other tikka masalas I've had, almost too sweet. Pistachio chicken kuruma was a unique flavor, I'm not sure I'd pick it out as pistachio, but it had a nice heat. Got the garlic naan and garlic & cheese naan. I personally preferred the plain garlic but the one with cheese was almost like a quesadilla.Probably will try to look for other Indian spots in the Mission first before coming back, but definitely nothing wrong with Aaha!

I love the food here! I'm pescatarian and the options are endless. Delicious biryani. I've had the veg biryani and ulavacharu egg biryani. Their rasam firebroth soup is the best to cure any cold. Lots of spices and garlic, it has a great kick to it and I'm constantly craving it. And can't forget the mango lassi! My friends also really love this place. The service is so friendly every time and great seating inside to take your time and enjoy your food. 10/10 recommend!

Good spot for quality Indian food. Had the masala dosa here. I liked that the potato masala inside was mashed and creamy rather than chunky. Also tried the vijayawada chicken biryani and it was delicious. Good flavors and decent portion size. We tried the bagara baingan and didn't like how they include the top of the eggplants. We had to spit out like three eggplant tops. Otherwise it was pretty solid. Beware, medium spice level is pretty hot. The inside of restaurant looks a little chaotic towards the back, but it's generally tidy otherwise. Service is friendly. Would definitely come back again.
