I came for Sunday brunch and it's buffet style. Let me tell you something Linda, the food was A1! Everything was flavorful and fresh! The service was good and the ambiance was amazing. They had a live band playing and they were great! There's plenty of parking and it not too loud or too packed. It was just right. They clear the tables quickly and it's very clean. I loved the black joy in the building along the welcoming approach for everyone! Brunch is from 11-3pm on Sundays.

Came here based on Yelp rating. Very disappointed in the food. I had lunch special of red beans and rice with sausage and two small round cornbread muffins with lemonade. Husband had shrimp and fried catfish, green beans, french fries and 2 small cornbread muffins with a big red. It cost us $41 with the tipGood things first: Atmosphere/decor is spot on. Am told on Sundays they have a buffet and live Jazz and Soul Music. The waitress was amazing. She spoke clearly, was charming and did not keep us waiting.Next the not so good. The beans and rice w/sausage was bland! The green beans had bacon in them, but still tasted like canned green beans. The cornbread muffins taste like Martha White mix (not bad, but not what you would expect from such a reputed place) the fried shrimp and catfish were ok; Crispy and not oily. I won't say I will not come back, but if I do will try something different next time.

The ambiance was a step back in time... the patrons could have been straight out of a John Biggers mural. The restaurant appeared to be clean and well laid out as we took our seats at a table next to the stage.I ordered the Senior Special: A meat (smothered pork chop with onion gravy), one side (okra & tomatoes), bread (cornbread), and a drink (sweet tea). I added a side of rice. My pork chop and okra arrived before before the rice. There were only two servers, so I had plenty of time to look the chop over and discern that the gravy was not homemade.Everything tasted good; the server was friendly, and the portion sizes were large. I enjoyed the visit.

This was definitely my first time here for a brunch date. I was initially disappointed to know breakfast stops at 11, we arrived at 1130. Anyways we ordered chicken and waffle with whole chicken, shrimp and grits and the oxtails plate with collard greens and Mac and cheese for the sides. The waffle was great! The waffles are really sweet even without syrup, as if they put sugar in the batter, the chicken was tasty however I can tell it was not cooked fresh but had it been fried fresh OMG it would've been great! The collard greens were really good, the mac and cheese were mediocre, the shrimp and grits are tomato based not too spicy but they were okay. The best item served were definitely the oxtails!! Coming in I saw they had a sign out saying best oxtails in the city... I absolutely agree!! Now as far as my server he was pleasant. Not too attentive but pleasant and very busy, seems like he was the hardest worker of the day! Last but not least which is really important for us females, the bathroom were really clean. :)

Tried this place with a few other friends and we weren't disappointed! Food was delicious, service was great and friendly and did I mentioned the food was great? We were quickly seated at the back and the waitress was attentive to our needs (drinks and refills) I ended up having the Steak and Shrimps with mashed potatoes and Mac n' Cheese! Very good choice on my part. Place was upbeat with music playing. Plenty of parking and bathroom was clean. It's a bit far from me but if I find myself in the area, I will stop by a second time.

I only give a 4 star because there is always room for improvement. The food was excellent and plentiful. I tried the Collard Greens which were great!Our waitress Jessica was very nice and attentive. The atmosphere was peaceful and interesting. Will definitely return!!!

Stopped in for lunch before a doctor appt. Good crowd but not packed. Servers very nice. Nice art work on the walls. The wife had fried chicken with collard greens and fried cabbage. I had chopped steak with mushrooms with mashed potatoes and fried okra. Both had cornbread and iced tea. I think we both should have just had the veggie plate. The chopped steak was barely warm and I was charged .50 for brown gravy on my potatoes. The fried chicken came with a thigh and a breast. The thigh barely had any meat on it and the breast was a little dry and chewy. The veggies tho were delicious. We saw someone with onion rings that looked good. We would like to try again and do breakfast.

i was all barbecued our when i went on the hunt for this extraordinary find!!! if i had to describe what the food was like it would be that i believe they had my Granny and all my great aunts in that kitchen chained to the stove putting their foot in the meal as the old people used to say. Warning!! Eating here will cause drowsiness ! The food was so good i have been dreaming about it since i returned to Atlanta! The oxtails were the bomb, the cabbage was outrageously good , the sweet potatoes were truly candied yams like they used to be when I was a child, when food was good & people knew how to cook. Its located just over the bridge downtown l, a stones throw from the stadium. Not hard to find but well worth the pursuit. Take some home... you're gonna want to eat it all but don't stuff yourself

I have been here before and the serve was good, but today my husband and I came in and we seat ourselves down. The guy behind the bar finally brought us menus and walked away. He later came and asked us for our drink order and brought them and left. We waited for almost 30 mins while looking at people that came in after us get served so I got up and went to the bar and asked I someone was going to take our order. One of the ladies finally came over. Then after our order is taken it was so sorry for wait, we are short handed. Not coming over to check to see if our order had been taken and walking by looking at us is not an excuse, worst experience ever.
