Their food is good, so they get 1 star. Plus, Yelp won't allow you to give them fewer. Their customer service, however, leaves everything to be desired. I should have seen the red flags prior to handing over any money. In the beginning there was a bit of lag time in hearing back from the owner regarding a meeting & a tasting. The tasting went fine and the food was good. The owner, Janet, definitely understood the direction & flavor we wanted for our wedding. However, once the initial deposit was handed over it became almost impossible to get in touch with her. She did eventually get back to me about sending in the 2nd deposit to cover the menu changes and estimated guest count, but only after repeated emails & phone calls. With the number of times I had to call to hear back from Janet I started to feel like a credit collector or stalker. The plan was to call Personal Pantry about a month before the wedding to give Janet a final guest count and to finalize any details. Again, it took FOREVER to hear back from her regarding the final arrangements and to set up a walk-through of the reception site (ceremony site, as well). By the time I heard back from her, 3 weeks later, I had begun looking into last minute replacement options. Personal Pantry had arranged for table & chair rental but we were told last minute that we were responsible for meeting the rental company at the facility, which was possible, just slightly annoying with 20-15 out-of-town guests. The reception went fine except for the horrendous table decorations provided by the caterer, which I had specifically requested they NOT provide, but I was in too good of a mood to even notice. My 2nd major complaint about Personal Pantry concerns the pick up of the rental equipment. We delayed our honeymoon departure by a few days in order to spend time with family that was in town. The rental company was to pick up the tables/chairs the Monday after the wedding. They were to call my cell phone when they were on our way & I was going to meet them. They never called. They did however start calling my phone several days later when I was out of the country and unable to do anything to help them. I returned the calls & also called Personal Pantry to let them know they needed to handle the situation. I never heard back from anyone at the caterer's. I ended up having to have another member of the church open the facility up for the rental company. It was a total pain and caused way more stress than necessary. After we returned to SA, my husband and I both emailed and left multiple messages for Janet and Personal Pantry requesting the return of the $300 deposit (for the equipment rental). The rental deposit was provided to Janet under the written agreement that she would handle all equipment rental details & the deposit would be returned barring any damage to the equipment. There was no damage done. We regularly tried to get in touch for 6 months before finally giving up and writing off the money. So, in summary, Personal Pantry makes good food, but:1 - has absolutely horrible customer service and is impossible to contact2 - will set up equipment rental but not follow through with drop off/pick up arrangements3 - will keep your refundable deposits

So Janet and Personal Pantry has done catering for us numerous times. Birthday parties and even after a funeral. The food is excellent every time. From appetizers, main courses, sides, deserts everything is very classy and we get compliments every time. You will not go wrong by hiring them. Plus they always provide the full layout and clean up/take down. My favorite is the Mexican food catering but the Italian food is also delicious.
