It's are go to Mexican place downtown. I know there is some great places downtown... My separation is the customer service. I was worried when the rebranded, but nothing changed. Price point is great, food always good, customer service great... And that neighborhood feel. We arrived back from Europe.... It was our first breakfast stop the next day.

WTH happened here?The prices have doubled and portions have shrunk. Just another tourist restaurant. Not the mom n pop feel as before. Food is still good but I rather pay money for that mom n pop feel and mom n pop service. Very loud. But again, it's now a tourist spot.

Came to eat here today September 21, 24 with my husband and in laws. My first impression of this restaurant is that it smelled like roaches or the spray you put for roaches it was this weird gross smell. We were starving so we decided to stay to give it a chance. We ordered drinks then chips and salsa. A second waitress came to ask for our drink orders again so apparently they don't know which tables are being serviced. The waiter came back to get our meal order. Chips and salsa never came. Our meals came and we had the waiter just cancel out chips because apparently the order didn't get put in. Our meals came and I had ordered a fideo. It had a good taste but there was an after taste to it. So I asked for lemon and avocado slices. The avocado slices came but the lemon didn't. So my husband got up to for lemon again. When the lemon finally came some peace's were browned and looked moldy. My husband liked his tacos. My father in law and mother in law were not happy with the food either. My mother in law barely picked at her food. I spent $65 on crappy food. The waiter had a good personality but he would forget to bring what we asked, leaving us to ask another person or ask him twice. I absolutely would never come back to this place again. They also had indoor vendors selling things which I would assume they are trying to make money to pay for the lack of customers. The restaurant maybe had like 8 people when we got there.

I understand that prices are going up but when I pay a certain price I expect a certain service. The food is 7/10 the service is 4-5/10 and the feel of the restaurant is 6/10. We waited to be attended and it was too pricey.

Our go to place that never disappoints. We had menudo and it is always on point. Their burgers are made to order and loaded with delicious toppings. The Daves plate is cooked to perfection. So, if you're in Southtown or wanting to eat some great food, stop by here. Jesus our waiter is extremely fast, friendly and very detailed with the orders.

The Haven Southtown Mexican Restaurant y Cantina ("The Haven") has been a brunch staple of mine for years. For some reason or another, when I visit San Antonio, I usually end up staying in the Alamo Heights area, and this place always feels inviting when it is usually just around the corner.I have no idea how long it has been around. From the looks of things, at least a few decades (if not longer). This becomes obvious when you observe the crowd. Like many "legacy" restaurants remaining in bigger cities with gentrifying neighborhoods, you always notice a nice cross-section of the changing demographics. It's a nice scene.I have never been here when it was not packed to the gills. That's probably because they have really good classic Tex-Mex food at decent prices. People who live here want this. People who visit here want to experience it. It also has an atmosphere reflective of who they are and what they want to be. Nothing more, nothing less. Why try to be or represent yourself as anything other than what you really are?Anyway, I like the place! I imagine I will return on future visits.

Excellent service here!!!The staff here goes above and beyond and I am left impressed every time I go here either for take out or dine in. The service makes all the difference especially in San Antonio with so many Tex mex options. The place is currently decorated for Christmas and throughout the year they have cute Mexican decor. It's a cozy/homey vibe here and they have all the classics of a tex mex menu and some funky options like the capirotada which went great with a cup of coffee.
