The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill San Antonio, TX

This review is for takeout. We ordered takeout on a Sunday evening. The service was quick. We ordered the shrimp souvlaki and the lamb skewers. I had the feta fries and side salad with my order. With the lamb we had the lemon potatoes and a side salad. We did order a side of rice as well. The shrimp dish was pretty hardy. They give you about 8 shrimp. That's surprising as most restaurants are not as generous with their shrimp. The feta fries were delicious. Great flavor and plenty to share for a side. The side salad was just OK. The rice was pretty good. I would get it again for sure. We ordered online for pick up. We initially were going to order via Uber eats, but it was way more expensive. Kind of pricey overall, but we were happy with our meals. The restaurant was pretty empty on a Sunday, but we did see a lot of people taking to go orders.

First time trying out this restaurant & was not disappointed. The restaurant was very clean & the workers greeted us when we walked in. The menu was easy to look at. The food was delicious & big portions. We also tried the rice & lemon potatoes. Everything was delicious!

Food is delicious! Service is outstanding. Portions are generous and I feel price is on point .

Grabbed some yummy snacks. The dolmades, falafel and baklava were delicious. The baklava was a great sweet treat. The service was good and the staff was friendly and informative.

We've eaten here a couple of times and I haven't been disappointed yet! All of their food has great flavor and good portions! And their feta fries are addicting!

Favorite is the shrimp souvlaki plate, but everything i've tried is good. Comes with a small side salad and choice of side, I actually like the rice with this meal over the fries. Also comes with some pita bread and tzatziki. Delivery is available. I've tried the gyro and feta fries which were good but I would still order the shrimp souvlaki plate over that.

Visiting my friend in SA & of all the thousands of choices she wanted me to try one of her favorite places to eat. We like good fresh ingredients & this eatery was THE BEST. The owners are gracious & check on each table to make sure everything is perfect. They compliment their staff & I think everyone that hasn't tried this eatery, should take my advice & go there.Irene, a great Italian cook

Very nice clean and updated interior. Plenty of seating and soft music playing. Very friendly and helpful staff. The staff helped me to make my dinning selection. I order the sulakai plate. It came with two skewers of your choice of meat. I had chicken and steak. It came with a Greek salad, pita bread and choice of side. I had the feta fries. The food came out in about 10 mins. The food was delicious. Flavorful and the meats were tender. After eating I felt clean yet satisfied.

Overall, 4 stars. I was crazing Mediterranean food, emphasis on the gyro. I pass this restaurant nearly ok a daily basis but have never gone in. Today, I decided to place an order online. It was relatively easy to do so, but once I paid, I received an error message (twice). So I called and placed my order on the phone instead. It was very clean and casual inside with plenty of tables and chairs. I love that their 100%//Grade A sanitation score is prominently displayed. Thanks to my fellow Yelpers, I ordered the kids gyro platter, which comes with the gyro meat, rice or fries, side salad, pita and drink for $11.45. I subbed out for feta fries for an additional $1. I definitely had plenty of leftovers and it's $5 cheaper than the regular gyro platter, which doesn't come with a drink. My girls ordered the kids grilled cheese pita ($8.45) and kids cheese pizza ($8.95). Both come with fries or rice and a drink. The pizza was a good size and filled the entire bottom of the styrofoam tray. The grilled cheese pita was rather sad looking (hence part of my star reduction). I ordered the souvlaki mix platter, with the lamb and steak tenderloin skewer, for my husband. It comes with two skewers of choice (you could also do chicken or shrimp), rice or fries, salad, and pita for $19.25). My husband really enjoyed this and said the rice tasted really good - cold out from fridge and warmed up. The meats were seasoned ok (he added additional seasoning at home to his liking) but the temperature of the meats were perfect (I got medium rare for both knowing that when he warmed it up, it would become medium). The Mezze plate was kinda steep at $15.75 for 3 dolmades, 2 falafels, 1 spanakopita, and hummus. That said, it all tasted good - but the price is also why I took partial star off. Lastly, I considered ordering their four dip combo for $16.95, which comes with a hummus, a tzatziki, Melitzanosalata (roasted eggplant) and a Tirokafteri (cream cheese, feta and roasted red pepper). But I added sides of each, which were only $1 each and come in a 4oz cup, plus two side orders of pita bread (also $1 each). So $6 versus $16.95. #winning that Tirokafteri was my favorite of the four, then the tzatziki and the hummus. The eggplant one was good too, but for ranking sake, it was last lol. This will now be my go to for some fast/casual Mediterranean food!

Excellent Food and Service!I travel a lot and love to try different Greek restaurants, at 1st I thought counter-service? But it was lunch and decided, why not! The food came served at the table and I was instantly impressed. So glad we chose this place, four adults had the best lunch ever, huge portions, we have dinner to go as well. Very fresh ingredients, and cooked to order. We had 2 skewer plates and 2 gyros plus the dip sampler appetizer, amazing!! The owner came out and asked how our food was too, super nice lady and genuinely wanted our feedback so I decided a review was in order :) Ended up ordering the dessert sampler to go & it didn't disappoint!! :) Thanks!
