Best Tamales in San Antonio. I drive from Austin to get them for the family, and always take orders from my neighbors who love them too.

The Menudo was well made and well seasoned. AND they serve it ALL the time!I was not a fan of the barbacoa, but it was pretty lean by barbacoa standards and not too greasy. The picadillo was really good and flavorful, but a little too much black pepper for me, maybe it was just todays batch. I would still get it again. From the look of their old menu, I wish they would bring back their lunch specials. I had planned to get a tamale lunch special, but they no longer offer that. They had a cold dozen for $14 or frozen dozen for $8. I got frozen, so I haven't tried them yet. Hoping they are as good as the hype. The flour tortillas are good. I wouldn't buy them from here. Wish they were fluffier.

Love love love this place. Off the main track but so worth it. Food is fresh, delicious, and cheap. I got 3 breakfast tacos, 1 bacon and egg and the other 2 were rice and beans. I was stuffed by the end of the second one. Paid $7 for 3 tacos, salsa and a dessert empanada. Ladies working are great.

The best Tamales in San Antonio! The masa is a thin moist wrapper to the most savory pork filling, this what a great tamale is supposed to be. They have a chicken tamale that is like a green chili chicken, perfect and again that thin moist masa. Highly recommend this place if you are searching for the best!

I passed the store on my way to my DPS appointment down the street. I took a mental note, remembering I've heard they're known for their tamales but the barbacoa was what caught my eye.Since the DPS appointment was speedy, I looked up Tellez and saw that it closes at 2pm. I called to check if they still had barbacoa and Brenda confirmed they still have some so I ordered 2 tacos.Thankful that I got to try it even though they were closing early since they sold out on the tamales. I've been used to other barbacoa that is more shredded and Tellez barbacoa was more chunks. Since this is my first time to try theirs, I'm not sure if this is how they serve it normally or a one-time difference. It was surely moist and I really liked the green salsa.I got a second taco for my breakfast tomorrow and will see if it's in chunks or more shredded.
