food, burritos and wraps
Everything was cold and the beans were fried in the old grease everything else we ordered was fried in
It tasted and smelled like it was going bad
I liked the flavor but lacked meat and rice. Wasn't much of a burrito as the picture shows
We ordered a bacon cheeseburger. It only had 1 small piece of bacon and a big slice of bacon. Fries were fried in old grease

We ordered street tacos and a side order of a Huitlacoche quesadilla. The tacos were pretty good and piled high with meat and other toppings. I would definitely return for the Huitlacoche, since it is not easy to find. The service was pretty good and if you pay cash it's a little cheaper I believe. Definitely check the place out.

AMAZING. We picked from the breakfast and lunch menu while we visited. First, this place reminds me so much of an authentic Mexican joint, so be prepared. We had breakfast tacosHam, egg, cheeseChorizo, egg, cheeseCountry boy, egg, cheeseI can decide which was my favoriteHubby had Chilaquil, i didn't try but he said they were VERY good. The children selected from lunch combo plates which had tamale, chalupa, taco, enchilada, skirt steak, between the two plates. AMAZING. I personally didn't try the steak but looked a little chewy. The enchilada, rice and beans were some of the best I have ever had. What looked to be the lady who was running the joint was very friendly and was tending to the entire restaurant with only one other person. Between the two, our drinks were never empty and took great care of us.

This was our most off-the-beaten-path stop in San Antonio. On the way out of town, we hopped over I-35, west of downtown and El Mercado, in search of a quick bite. It turned into an interesting search (this was our 3rd stop after 2 failed attempts) and I'm happy to say we ended up here. From the outside, it looks large - larger than the other taquerias we'd driven by in the area. Inside, it IS fairly large - but not too deep, so it's kind of long and narrow... but not too narrow. :) The biggest surprise was the ambiance, if you want to call it that. We were there for Sunday lunch, and they had a stage with music going. It wasn't live music - it was folks singing along to music played by a DJ. I don't think it was karaoke, but it might have been... it was kind of hard to tell. I got the impression it was pre-arranged singers.Very Mexican place, which I viewed as a good sign. We were the only Gringos, and our waitress spoke mostly Spanish to us and threw in English here and there. She understood me (mostly English with some sketchy Spanish thrown in as much as possible), so that was good. They were out of brisket ... or was it barbacoa... so I substituted with something else. I think I got chicken tacos, and I know I got picadillo tacos. Whatever I got, it was solid. Definitely yum. Chips and salsa were good, but the salsa was spicy - FYI. Not too spicy for me, but too much for the rest of the fam. Food took longer than a typical Tex Mex joint, which is typically a good sign. The only real knock against the place was the music was super loud - unexpected for a Sunday lunch with the family. A lot of people seemed to be there for the music, so I think we were just the odd out-of-town, out-of-place Gringos and everyone else was enjoying the very loud music. Maybe it was turned up for the older Mexican ladies that were very much enjoying the music and clapping a lot. But it was hard to talk over at times, seriously. Not exactly family friendly, IMO, but locals might disagree. The DJ was also hilarious, and not in an intentional way. He'd play clips in between songs, and they were so random and choppy. He's start an American country song between other Mexican/Tejano sing-along music.. then abruptly cut it off and switch to the next sing-along number. It was amusing, to say the least. He'd also throw in a lot of "crowd sound" (think stadium) and canned clapping, which I found absolutely hilarious. Just... entertaining. But too loud, given our personal circumstances.I'd be back, but ideally without kiddos. Authentic Mexican taqueria, fo sho. And I never felt discriminated against, although the service could have been a little better.

I ordered a Barbacoa taco on corn tortilla, I asked my waitress if the corn tortillas are homemade... they are Not! This visit was on a Sunday where barbacoa and big red reigns here in SA... can you believe they served me spoilt meat?!?? The barbacoa tasted sour, the carne guisada I could not even cut through it with a steak knife. How dare they serve such disgusting food especially on a Sunday???? No wonder we were the only ones there on a Sunday morning around 10 amThey did remove my disgusting tacos from my bill with out even an apology! Never will I return to eat their spoiled and old food.

Had to hit a Mexican restaurant before leaving San Antonio because everyone knows San Antonio has the best spots. This place did not disappoint. We had birria tacos, enchiladas, and puffy tacos. All was good and the service was awesome!!

I'm disappointed with the waitress when I called to express concern when I started having a rash on my neck and face area with itch and warm to the touch. I had not eaten anything for breakfast and this was my first meal at 1145 am. I asked if they fried the Chile relleno in oil that they fried thier fish in, right away she said they got the Chile relleno from a source and all they did was warm them in a microwave oven. Well when I ordered, the waitress asked if I wanted ground beef, or cheese Chile relleno. Tells me that they don't have any thing that is ready made and waitress was not going to concern herself with my issue. Thank God, I had sense to come back have and take some benadryl. I'm not angry at the waitress, I'm disappointed in her attitude and lack of concern about my health. Other than that most of thier food is palatable, and the help is gracious mostly. Like everyone else, trying to survive.
