Taqueria and Juicy Fruits

On the way back to ATX from our extended vacay in Port Aransas, TX, we decided to stop in Seguin, TX for a little late lunch... so glad we did! We found Taqueria and Juicy Fruits on Yelp, and it just off the highway, so not that big of a detour, so we stopped for a late lunch. It's in a strip mall, with painting all over the windows... don't be fooled, it's worth going in!We started with a couple of HUGE ice teas, and the complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa was fantastic ... a little watery, but the flavor was "all fresh and just made" with a little bit of heat. The chips were thin, and nice and crispy! We ate them up! We followed with menudo and tacos, the tacos were barbacoa, beef and chicken (3 separate tacos). The first observation about the tacos, is that they were stuffed full of meat! No skimping on the portions here! And, very tasty, well-seasoned, served hot off the grill. The menudo was a bit of a disappointment, there was an aftertaste we couldn't identify. The ingredients in the soup were plentiful, the taste was just off (for our palates).They also have special red and green salsas in squeeze bottles that they bring to your table right out of the fridge. Both were good, we liked the green sauce better, bolder with a little heat. The "Juicy Fruits" in the name refers to the desserts ... see menu pic!You pay at a register in the back by the kitchen, easy enough. We'd go back if we're in that neighborhood again. Recommend Taqueria and Juicy Fruits, it's worth the hunt to find it!

I've come here a few times since my last review and have enjoyed it very much. The agua fresca is the best in the area. Great place for a quick lunch during the week.

First impressions, walking in, having never been I was a little confused. Store is situated to seat yourself, so walk-in find a table, and someone will be with you shortly, with menus and to take your drink order. Alternately you could call an order in for pick-up (definitely will be trying that later), either way, you sit, eat your meal, then once you're done you go to the back of the building to pay, where they have a copy of your check and receipt. It's a little odd, but the store isn't that big, so it works.If you are looking for affordable, authentic Mexican, homestyle food - this is a great place. The salsa has the perfect amount of heat, the lunch specials had the right amount of food. Both the Tacos and Quesadillas were well filled and flavored nicely, the side dishes were seasoned, and the plates came out hot ready to eat.Prices are perfect, I'd gladly pay those prices again. IF I had any "down side" would be this is definitely informal/casual style, family orientated. This is not a place to come sit have a margarita and chit chat with a a large group. In fact they don't have alcohol.Having said that if you know what you're walking into - its great food and the management and people are wonderful. *Bonus if you speak Spanish it'd make ordering easier, though I didn't have a issue with my broken Spanish in communicating.

Great service and awesome tacos. First time here... will not be my last. Tortillas homemade. Prices very reasonable.

This Taqueria is definitely on my top 5 local spots! You won't be disappointed. I've been here a thousand times or more and I just now realized I hadn't reviewed the restaurant so here is my way over due review on my visit today. Everything on the menu is great! Today I had the chicken flautas lunch special. The lunch special is $7.75 with a drink. I mean c'on if that's not a bargain these days. Also, my mom got the chalupas lunch plate again $7.75! Our waitress Laura was very welcoming with a huge smile. These days it tough to find good workers with genuine smiles. I saw some people leave in their review that they couldn't find the place so I added a tip. If you see the Walmart shopping center then look at the strip mall in front where the Dollar Tree is. Great job Taqueria and Juicy Fruit on the amazing food and warm welcome each and every time!!!

The food is good, the fruit fresh, Aguas Frescas are top notch. My hubba got barbaco mini tacos, they were flavorful and not too greasy. I had the picos fruits, delicious mix of pickles, cucumber, watermelon, mango, cantaloupe, strawberries, pineapple, and chamoy. Ambiance leaves something to be desired, and the service was ok.

This is a family run business, and service is good.The ceviche is always very fresh & tasty - my go-to thing on the menu. I've had the asada mini taco plate from here - that is very good. They also offer a good sized grilled chicken salad that is great; hubby normally gets fajitas, and he likes them. The rice and beans are just okay, nothing special.The Agua Frescas, specifically the limonada & the pineapple/cucumber/chia flavors are the bomb.A couple of times I've had issues with my order, and ended up paying for more food than I ordered/wanted (today was actually the second instance) possibly due to language barrier. They offer a lunch special from Mon-Thurs, today I ordered the 2 enchiladas & 1 crispy taco plate that comes with a drink. I called back 3-4 minutes after placing my initial order to clarify that I wanted the enchiladas with beef inside (instead of cheese) and very light/little cheese on top.My order ended up being the lunch special with cheese inside the enchiladas, and a TON of cheese on top. An additional beef enchiladas plate was added to my order instead of replacing the cheese with beef to my existing food order.I was unable to eat the cheese enchiladas, so that ended up being a complete waste of money. I took the excess cheese from the top of the beef enchiladas to try them, and it just wasn't good; the enchilada sauce/gravy wasn't good, the beef didn't have much flavor - I do not recommend their enchiladas. Both enchilada plates ended up being a waste of money. The ceviche was good like it always is, and I ate that as my meal instead.Even the drink that was supposed to come with the lunch special seemed to have a charge. I paid $31 for the lunch special plate, the beef enchilada plate, a large ceviche & a small Agua Fresca; was only able to eat/enjoy the ceviche & drink for that price. This total overall is very reasonable for the amount of food, if only I was actually able to eat the enchilada plates with an obscene amount of cheese.The restaurant itself is your typical strip mall Mexican restaurant - fairly clean, plenty of tables considering the size of the joint. Will be back, but definitely not for the enchiladas.

Oh my god. I came here with my dad looking for a little snack. As I am in Texas I expected cheese pastor and rice. Instead me and dad split on and there was cheese, lettuce, crispy pastor, and guacamole! Super big for a great price. The food didn't come out that fast but it sure was tasty. It's small, but sure did serve big food. There's never to many people in the store and I highly recommend this restaurant.
