The best bean and cheese!!! Service is always great, and the restaurant is quick to clean and dirty table when guest leave.

This is a true historical gem!!! People that don't know about this spot have never had exquisite puffy tacos like the ones served here. I've been coming to this spot since I was a child. It continues to be one of my all-time favorites. We arrived with 10 minutes to closing, and the entire staff was so gracious and kind and welcomed us warmly. We each ordered our puffy tacos and we received them in minutes. There is so much great energy and ambiance and it's hard to take your eyes off the walls with all the antiques and artifacts they've collected over the years. However, when the tacos are served, you can't take your eyes off those. The beef and the tacos are perfectly seasoned and quite savory. Totally mouth watering.The puffy tortilla is both crunchy and chewy at the same time. The guacamole and homemade lemonade are the absolute best. I can't wait to return.

This place was pretty good. I think it's a hole in the wall shop on Castroville Road. I ordered the bean and cheese taco. It was pretty good. I ordered the Carne guisada with cheese. It was fair. My least favorite was the country sausage and egg. Overall everybody was super nice they all said hi to me when I walked in and they said bye when I left. I don't know how much it was because my cousin paid. I probably would not come back here again though.

The only thing I absolutely love from here are the beans!!!! Ugh I can't get enough of their bean and cheese tacos but I probably wouldn't steer too far from that on the menu. 2 stars only because I don't eat or drink anything else from here. But this is a west side staple, been going here with my family since I can remember.

This was our first time there. Food was good, service was excellent but if you decide to leave a tip for your great server, the way they do it seems questionable. We were asked at the time we paid if we were leaving a tip on the card or cash. We left it on the card, and the cashier gave us the equal tip amount in cash back. We left the cash back amount on the table but further discussed whether we just gave a double tip since we were still charged the cash back AND left the cash back on the table for our server. When we called to ask and get a better understanding of this, the manager would not take our call, saying that he didn't want to speak about how they handle the tips. That alone just seemed shady. But, if you don't mind getting double charged or having your great server getting screwed out a tip if you don't leave the cash back because you figured you already left a tip on your card ... have at it and eat here.

I live in California and this is my favorite taco place and go directly there as soon as I get settled for a week visit to my hometown. The refried beans are the star of the menu. Never had a bad experience there. Try this for authenticity!

Always fresh, take out and pickups a breeze! Delicious family friendly place. They will even set aside specials if you call in. The meatloaf is delicious, not something you would order a mexican restaurant and yet Simply delicious. Stop in and try a plate or two, the homemade beans and tortillas worth the trip.

Just ate here it was subpar, the huevos rancheros was a good price but they don't give you potatoes and instead give you bacon. The water also wasn't filtered just tasted like dirty sink water, as for the carne guisada, they gave you a good amount of it in each taco but it was still tough.

Best beans !!! And they have some tasty enchiladas!! They've been around a long time I'll be 35 in a few days and I've been coming here forever

Beans were too greasy. Service was not too attentive. Picadillo was not great at all!
