Absolutely love this place! Must order the Quesabirria tacos, so cheesy and the birria is very tender. Chilaquiles are a hit too! Service is unmatched here, staff are hard working and very welcoming. A must go to spot here in San Antonio!

Food is good but service is pretty slow. It can get crowded fast but worth the wait with price to portion.

We were excited to try this place but sadly this was a one and done for us. Service: 5 because of the attention we got from our server. Excellent and friendly Food: 3 because nothing had flavor. The burka tacos and the pastor torta had no flavor. Just meaty. The consommé served with the biria quesadillas was a thin flavorless broth. The torta was large but again lacked flavor. The only thing that was good was the chips and salsa that you pay for. Ambience: 3 because the place should have been cleaner since we were the only people in the restaurant. Dirty dishes were on the table next to us and the floor was messy. No excuse as we saw staff on their phones just hanging out.

During my first visit to Tacos and Chelas, I was immediately taken by the cozy ambiance of this small restaurant. Despite its limited seating, my timing couldn't have been better as it wasn't very busy, allowing us to be seated right away--a pleasant start to our dining experience. The highlight of our meal was undoubtedly the asada fries "Americanos". The melted nacho cheese atop was a delight, perfectly complementing the well-seasoned fries. Opting to try it with chicken as well, I found the switch a delightful variation. The chicken was seasoned to perfection, marrying well with the rest of the ingredients for a truly satisfying dish. Not stopping there, I indulged in their street tacos, opting for the sirloin. The portion was generous, and it was paired with beans that were equally commendable for their flavor. We also ventured to try the birria--splitting our choice between 2 tacos and 2 quesadillas. Each was very good, though the consomé accompanying them was somewhat of a letdown, lacking the expected punch of salt or spice. To wash it all down, we ordered one of their signature huge micheladas, an ideal complement to the meal.Overall, my experience at Tacos and Chelas was positive. The food was good, offering a range of flavors that mostly hit the mark. While there's room for a little improvement, specifically with the consomé, the meal was enjoyable, and I left satisfied. It's a spot I'd recommend for anyone looking to enjoy a good taco (or two) in a welcoming, unpretentious setting.

I'm so excited to tell you about Tacos and Chelas! I recently had the pleasure of trying their street tacos and birria tacos, and let me tell you, they were out of this world! The street tacos were filled with tender, flavorful meat and topped with fresh cilantro and grilled onions on the side. The birria tacos were a burst of rich, savory goodness, with perfectly seasoned asada and a side of flavorful consommé for dipping. The guacamole was perfectly made with great flavor the red salsa had a great spicy flavor and the salsa verde was flavorful and spicy The combination of flavors and textures in both tacos was absolutely divine. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming , making the whole experience even better. If you're a fan of street tacos and birria, Tacos and Chelas is a must-visit spot! Enjoy And I'm very picky with my Mexican food?!!

Came here with my husband for a quick bite. We got here at 2pm and nobody was here. We asked the waitress what was good and she suggested the birria quesadillas and the torta. She said they were delicious and they would split them on two plates as we told her we were going to share. I wanted chips and hot sauce. When she brought out the chips they were hot. The sauce was so delicious. It was very citrus forward. I was really jazzed about the meal if the chips and salsa is that good. Sadly, our lunch was pretty underwhelming. The food came out fast and I had the quesadilla first. It had no flavor. No salt, no spice, no acid. Just meaty. The pastor torta was exactly the same. The bread was delicious but all I could taste was no seasoning on the pork. I had very high hopes with the start of our meal and service. The restaurant needed to be swept and tables should have been wiped down considering it was empty. I'm hoping I just hit this spot on an off day.

I am just so sad and disappointed. This was supposed to be "Tex Mex enchiladas " , had been described with enchilada gravy , cheese etc . These were cold and naked ... we will not be back.
