So the tacos were fantastic, but they were seriously understaffed at lunch, so it was fully 1/2 hour for lunch. This is San Antonio, tacos are fine art and served at speeds that compare favorably to fast food joints, so this was disappointing. Ambiance was a bit divey, which I think is a reflection of staff shortages. Food was good, I hope they can fix the rest.

If you have never eaten at this little hole in the wall you are missing out. You will not find better flour tortillas in San Antonio. The potato egg and cheese breakfast taco is ridiculous. No idea how so much flavor can come from such a simple taco. Everything is good here. Don't miss this place!

So I'm sitting in Taco Taco as I write this. I think it's time for another live review! My girlfriend and I both ordered puffy tacos' one beef and one chicken order. While we wait, I have to admit pretty divey in here. As others have mentioned, we were served salsa right away and nothing else. Alright, the food has arrived in less than 10 minutes. Well, after having one of each taco I am impressed! The beans and the rice were less impressive, but still made a decent bean Taco with the additional home made tortillas they provided! All in all giving this place 4 stars. Even the price is good!

I honestly feel like reviewers are ragging on this restaurant because it was on "Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives" and people's expectations are crushed when the food is not the best food they have ever tasted. I went for breakfast and it was a bit confusing on not being able to enter to building (signs weren't clearly marked to not enter the building and order outside, this is something the restaurant could improved). However the wait wasn't terribly long for the food to come out. The staff was very friendly and helpful since it was my first time. The food was quite delicious. The breakfast tacos were quite large and filling, and at a very reasonable price. The tortillas were fluffy and buttery. The eggs and taco fillings were fresh. I enjoyed every bite. Simply solid breakfast tacos. I would come back here again. If you're planning on coming to this restaurant, I'd recommend not setting your expectations unreasonably high and just enjoy the food. The breakfast tacos were quite tasty!

The key to this classic diner is to stick with what has brought them their well earned glory over the years, and to stay away from the things that don't matter in the grand scheme of things. Yes, the restaurant has seen much better days. It is rough around the edges and someone needs to come in and give some relief to what looks to be an exhausted staff. But let us not lose sight of this restaurant's major contribution to the San Antonio dining landscape: the puffy taco. I dined here for lunch today, and the delectable ensemble of perfection is as good as it has ever been. The puffy taco is a culinary wonder. The shell is a perfect combination of lightness, chewiness, softness, and crunchiness. Complemented perfectly by homemade beef or chicken and a thin, red housemade salsa. If this is not enough for you, I'm not sure what to tell you.

So disappointing. We were here for breakfast and it was terrible. My bean and cheese had no cheese. My chorizo and egg (pictured) barely had any chorizo. Also had a potato and egg add ham and cheese- she forgot the ham so took it back and added what looked like diced sandwich meat. No cheese (heck - maybe they were out of cheese)My husband sent his breakfast plate back because it was so light on the meat! Waitress added some and brought it back - but sill a 1 star breakfast plate. With so many great options in San Antonio for breakfast - I highly suggest finding somewhere else. I will say the tortillas were good. Service was not. Couldn't get a water refill. If you are looking for just some overcooked eggs - minimal meat - this is your place. I'm a SA native - living in DFW , came home for the weekend and wish I would have gone to one of my regulars instead of trying something new.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Husband picked up some breakfast tacos for us (first time customers) brought to me back at work. We're both in the medical field so already have limited time to eat as is, so you could imagine we'd be a little upset that we received tacos that literally had little to zero filling at all. No time to go back and ask for a remake so figure I'd call for a refund. Lady who answered, who claimed to be owner, said she made the tacos and that she put "6 pieces of meat In each taco". I hadn't even told her our name, ticket number or credit card info to look up check so already I was like "hmmm". I said I was not happy with my experience and she literally started cussing me out (first ever from a restaurant owner, especially in San Antonio with such a close knit service industry), told me to write what ever reviews I wanted and wasn't welcome back? Ok? Completely insane and beyond unprofessional. I hope you enjoyed your "35 years of business" and "doing whatever you want" because it won't last forever if you continue to treat guest this way. So yay to our first Taco Taco experience! Will be relaying the terrible experience to everyone in the field downtown, do not give this lady your business! The other tacos that are listed and not pictured went straight into trash.

just left and will never go back. Orders were incorrect, the rice was very undercooked and cold. I ordered beef puffy tacos and confirmed beef but chicken was what I received. There was no flavor. Very disappointing. Will not go back.

Idk how this place hasn't been shut down! But please stop giving this place y'all's business. It was my first time and last time going there. I called to complain and the lady, which I'm assuming is the owner said "I gave you four pieces of meats," WTH!! I told her I was going to write a review and she said for me to be nice. I responded back "I am nice and I like to support local businesses, but you can't go around ripping people off, it's not right! The first pic is what she gave me! I had to go buy another carne guisada to show you guys what a carne guisada taco should look like! Thanks to El Rafas for the good quality and what is expected in a carne guisada taco. The sign out front should be removed. The Taco, Taco Café is not the best tacos in town! As a born and raised in SA, I suggest going to El Rafas, Blanco Café, or the Donut Shop for good tacos or Mexican food. I should've read the reviews first I will be disputing with my bank for a refund. I had bought three tacos, the other two were bean and cheese. They were okay, but not worth the price. Bills are way better. I would rate it a zero star if I could!
