This is an update to my previous review. Taco Palenque Management Team read my previous review and reached out to make my experience right. At first I was doubtful that anything would come of my review, but they surely came through. They offered me either a full refund or a meal on them. What a class act!Today (2/1/2025) we decided to take their offer. We arrived there for lunch and I showed them the message I received from their management team. They graciously complied. We got 2 sirloin burritos, 6 tacos, 2 desserts of our choice (cheese cake and tres leches) and 2 drinks. OMG, this was A LOT OF FOOD! We ate the fajita and sirloin tacos, but had to take the rest home. It was just too much to eat in one sitting. We did get to eat more of what was left for dinner, but still a lot to eat. This opportunity really did change our perception. The dining room is huge, bright, cheerful and kept very clean. The staff are all very friendly. Most importantly, everything we ate was great. Everything was made fresh, the sirloin was tender and the beef fajita tacos were tasty. The tres leches cake was huge and very good. Cheesecake is a dessert you can get at most restaurants, and it didn't disappoint. Overall, this visit was a fantastic experience and we do plan on coming back.

Taco Palenque rides it's storied past into modern relevance. Once a famed Laredo hot spot, not a gloriously mediocre chain marching across Texas. The service is what you'd expect from a chain - not bad, but nothing worth writing home about. The food is average at best, and the ambiance is very chain-y. I do love the salsa bar and the unlimited chips!

Just to update to the comments. I reached out to the businesses comment. I emailed twice requesting to speak with them- leaving both email and phone numbers and they never contacted me. This is not a good way to run customer service. You should not make it look like you are trying to make things right if you are only doing it for looks on a social media platform.

Tex Mex is very different than SoCal Mexican...from the refried beans to the tortilla chips to taco shells to cheese to the meat.Palenque was very busy which is why I went thinking the food was great. I realized that eating in the restaurant gives you access to all you can eat chips and salsa...customers loved the free food (and all you can drink soda). A good variety of Salsa that was ok.People raved about the deep fried taco...sorry no, just a glorified Taco Bell wannabe. Meat was a blender style of beef.I ordered the green chile enchilada plate only to be told they were out and they substituted with another boneless, skinless, sliced chicken breast dish in flour tortillas. Beans were best described at polenta texture with red dye, rice was okay but had peas and carrots. Chicken was hard to eat because the meat was so dry. To add more sadness, the cheese was the type that comes out of a can...Anyways, if you're from Cali, best to save your money and gut and find a hole in the wall Tex Mex in San Antonio.

I am a Taco Palenque ride or die and this location is my go to stop! While the drive through service is typically pretty slow, I don't mind the wait because I know I am about to get exactly the experience I am looking for. TP is the perfect choice when you are craving that simple greasy, cheesy, flavor packed breakfast taco- and they always deliver! I am a big fan of getting the kids bean and cheese taco and fideo combo because it comes with a drink and at a low price. I will usually tack on a small barbacoa taco as well and it is the perfect amount of food! Delicious in every aspect, and accompanied by salsa that packs a punch, Taco Palenque is a win every time.

This was my very first time to EVER dine at a Taco Palenque and it was definitely an experience for me & I felt the restaurant was a good blend of dine-in and take-out/drive-thru.Since this was my first time I was a little overwhelmed by the order yourself kiosks, the fresh salsa bar, seeing directly into the kitchen, the fresh drinks and soda fountain, and the wall art. There was a lot going on lol.Service was so so quick & both the register lady and the gentleman attending to tables in the dining room were so friendly. If you come here you MUST check out the salsa bar & try out everything they have to offer, the plus side is they have free chips to go with it :) another MUST TRY is the Jamaica juice that they make fresh. So good! The reasons I am giving 4 and not 5 stars is because: - the 'Queso' is pretty much a cheese dip, and did not taste fresh made at all. There really was not much too it which was a bummer. If I wanted nachos maybe it would've been fine as it's the same consistency as it.- the Guacamole was OK but definitely not the best, for some reason I thought it had an off taste. I couldn't figure out why.- the Rice really was not great either. Don't bother doing a combo. I was a little sad about that honestly because I do love some good Mexican rice. All in all, they are a decent fast food restaurant but my faves are the salsa bar & the fresh Jamaica/Horchata drinks. If I'm craving tacos or something similar I will probably go to one of the other fast Mexican restaurants close by.

Paid $50 for their beef fajitas apparently for 3 people. Maybe this would be enough for 3 kids but not adults. They not only skimped on the meat they give but also the rice and guacamole. Taste was okay but definitely had better beef fajitas.

This is our favorite TP in San Antonio. We have been many times and have never been disappointed. The food is always fresh and delicious and the service is great! They do a great job keeping the place clean and is perfect for any meal at any time of day. We went for a very late breakfast and the food was fresh and hot. Highly recommend this location!!

Food is good, never had an issue but this time we ordered to go. They seriously need to fully cook their tortillas, eating masa.

I grew up in the valley and I have been to Taco Palenque more times than I can count. I was excited when this location was opening close to my home. What a complete let down. This is the worst run restaurant I have ever been to. I sort of go there now as just a twisted joke to see how badly they are going to screw my order up. It's comical at this point. They have messed up my orders over ten times in the past 3 months. I have called customer service multiple times no call back ever! We go to all of the other Taco Palenque around time without any problems. I'm honestly just leaving this review in hopes they will fix this mess of a place.
