Looking for homemade croissants and came across Sweet Baker. The bakery case is small, but contains hand crafted French style croissants and muffins. The croissants and baked goods are flaky and contain small batch artisanal fillings. The raspberry filling on the cheese Danish was incredible. Sweet Baker also has a nice espresso set up and a few indoor and outdoor tables. Street parking is easy during the day.

This is a new coffee shop in Southtown. The owner is a Culinary Institute of America grad and the pastries are delicious! I tried the Quesito , which is a puff pastry filled with a very light cream cheese. It was on point! It was light, very lightly sweetened and delicious! The coffee was great, pastries are to die for and I will be back!

I look at all the five star reviews and wonder what happened when I went? Or are we talking about the same place. Some reviews are aged of a couple of years ago. I'm not one to give a hardworking business a bad review, but this one earned a less than stellar review. I did not find the ambiance in the location anything to rave about.I wanted to try their "pan de agua" at my daughters suggestion as she had seen them on Facebook and they had great comments. First of all, I should say I came here at close to 3:00pm, after visiting their Nacogdoches location looking for "pan de agua". I was late at both places and there was very little other product to buy. They made sure to let me know that I was late. It almost felt like the gentleman at the counter of the Presos location was scolding me for not knowing that they only had "pan de agua" until 2:00pm daily. He stated "We advertise that this bread is only available until 2:00pm or until sold out". As if I should have known. I later realized that they rely heavily, if not exclusively, on Facebook or Instagram. I do not follow them on either. I don't have a Facebook account and I did not know about them on Instagram. "Shame on me..." However, I did come back a couple of days later (call me a masoquist, LOL) to purchase the "bread" (at 11:00am this time). I bought the desired "pan de agua" (there were only two left). It was not at all impressive in its packaging or appearance. It looked more like a pale baguette. When I got home and took the bread out of the packaging, which by the way was undersized for the length of the loaf, the darn thing broke in half revealing it hollow inside. Half of the loaf was literally hollow inside. You could not make a sandwich with this loaf. I do have to say that once you gave the bread a chance and a littly air fryer treatment, the taste was not bad, but not great or above par. The fact that it was hollow and that you can't make a sandwich with is very dissapointing. My description will need to suffice as I prefer not to send the photos of the bread."Pan de agua" and "pan sobao" are the bread of choice in Puerto Rico, so I was looking for a little taste of home. "Pan sobao" is sold in some Walmarts', but not "pan de agua".

The bakery looks really cute & I saw it while passing by. The only parking available is street parking, there might be paid parking but didn't see. Which isn't a big deal I still was able park and enjoy the bakery. The first thing I noticed was a lot of the pastries didn't have labels so I had to ask what they were. If you aren't going to have any label at least be familiar with the items. Especially if they are seasonal. It being seasonal pastries isn't an issue whatsoever. I think she could be more knowledgeable just in case someone has allergies etc. (maybe a list for her to reference in the future) especially if she is a new employeeThe lady wasn't sure on some items ( so I was like okkkkkk) I just grabbed something & left. She said it was banana, but it ended up being strawberry cake. So yes a communication era on the employees part. They do have coffee and a list of pastries on the board , but again I wasn't sure what was what & obviously she didn't either . Communication from the employee would have been great/ an explanation on the pastries even. Greeting was minimum & guest experience was ok. There is seating outside, which is a plus I will prob go back to give it another try. The pics on yelp make it look really good. I did notice they have other locations, maybe I'll try those instead.

Buen Provecho!! As my mother-in-law would say especially when I'm about to eat something yummy! This place is a Puerto Rican owned bakery filled with a delicious variety of baked goods. This was my first time here so of course I wanted to try most of the pastries I've seen on social media. This place is a small quaint little bakery with friendly and welcoming staff. I ordered the Guava Filled Croissant, Flan, the personal Guava Cake, Guava Pastelitos, and a croissant pastry cinnamon roll. I love Guava and tropical fruits and was delighted that they incorporate it into their pastries. I paid about $23 for everything. The cinnamon roll was so warm and flaky I couldn't help myself and ate most of it while I was in my car. Hence the small piece of cinnamon roll left in my photo. Lol. Definitely come and try this place!

Someone mentioned this business on Facebook so I decided to give it a try. I heard they had guava pastries and I was intrigued. I came a little closer to closing, about 3:45 or so. I purchased the following: guava croissant, mini guava layered cake, mini layered birthday cake, mini layered carrot cake, and a blueberry muffin. The staff was very nice and attentive. They boxed everything up for me and I was on my way. NOTE: they scored 100 on their last food inspection. Tried the muffin in the parking lot, did not have a chance to take a picture of that one because I ate it! Lol. It was so good and they did not skimp on the blueberries. Later that night I tried the guava croissant. Even after sitting all day on my counter, this thing was fluffy, creamy, and delicious. Plenty of guava filling inside of the croissant. I bought the cakes for my sister and nephew so hopefully, they will make it to them in one piece (wink wink). The mini guava cake will be mine. This is not a Mexican bakery it is Puerto Rican so don't come expecting Mexican pastry. This is a good thing, try something different. Check out the pictures of the location and desserts.

The service and coffee were great. I was looking for a Puerto Rican bakery and Yelp said it was. I was just in P.R. a week ago and Sweet Baker was not the bakery I was looking for.

This place is amazing! I would highly recommend, literally, anything from the bakery counter. The beef and potato Argentinian empanadas were so good and the breakfast tacos were spot on! The cafe con leche was perfect. The barista went above and beyond to serve us with a smile and incredible customer service. She explained what all the pastries were and took the time to help us make a choice. We will be going back to this spot for sure!
