Although once renowned for its homemade paninis, the restaurant now focuses exclusively on gelato due to staffing changes. Despite this, Alamode continues to charm patrons with its exceptional frozen treats.During my visit, I tried the prickly pear sorbet, a rare gem. The sorbet was sweet, syrupy, and captured the essence of prickly pear with remarkable precision. It was smooth and refreshing, perfect for a hot day.I did miss the famous paninis, which many patrons rave about. Hopefully, they'll return to the menu in the future.The ambiance at Alamode is warm and inviting, ideal for a casual hangout. The friendly staff and quality gelato make it a must-visit. If you crave a sweet escape, Alamode's prickly pear sorbet is a delightful choice that leaves a lasting impression.

Very rich gelato. The pistachio had a really good roasted flavor to it. The single scoop was just enough to enjoy. Staff was very informative.

Great spot for dessert. I went just for the ice cream. They have plenty of options. I got the child's cup. It was plenty for me. The ice cream was creamy. It hit the spot. Staff was nice. She let me taste test before buying. They have inside seating. Parking is on site, but shared. Parking can be difficult since this is a popular spot

Best gelato I've had in America. They have it at the right temperature! It's not like a rock, as it is in almost every place I go. Flavors are deep and rich and well chosen to provide a good set of choices.

If you ever have room for dessert, just completed a walk off of the river or have a sweet tooth, do yourself a favor and stop by South Alamode. Their gelato is absolutely creamy and delicious and worth all the calories. Albeit a bit pricy, the serving size is large and shareable. You're also able to get multiple flavors. I had the red velvet and stracciatella and both were so yummy. Stop by for a treat!

Staff is always friendly. Best gelato place I've ever had- truly Authentic, Texas sized portions of Homemade Italian gelato. The owners are actually from Italy, so I felt made a tremendous difference in the gelato and espresso experience all around. The owners recognize me from my frequent visits as a college student- and even though I no longer reside in San Antonio, they always make me feel welcome when I return. They even gave me an espresso shot on the house! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a chill, relaxing place to try great gelato & coffee. You cannot go wrong with trying out this place. Always make the trip anytime I am in San Antonio.

Had been wanting to try this place for years and finally stopped by after a Sunday trip to Brick.The gelato is hella fresh and tasty. There's several rotating flavors and the lady at the gelato freezer offered to let us try whatever we wanted.There's plenty of tables and seating areas to either come with a larger group or your partner.Atmosphere was chill and laid back with some decent tunes playing, definitely fits in well at Bluestar.Come give it a try! Will definitely be coming back.

Strawberry cream and/or strawberry sorbet is where it's at! Tastes very fresh with tiny strawberry pulp. Pistachio is very nutty (not too sweet) and creamy. Ricotta and blueberry felt light and fresh. Lemon sorbet was all right. Dark chocolate sorbet tastes true to its name but surprisingly creamy rather than watery. Clean industrial ambience similar to other restaurants/places in the blue star complex. Would come again for the strawberry sorbet or strawberry cream ice cream

Amazing gelato! Cool little spot to come and hang out. Great service too! So many unique flavors to choose from. Blackberry goat cheese was amazing!

Ice cream is good espresso is good location is great But customer service could be a bit better.
