Let me tell you something most soul food places around here can't make good Mac but here??? Amazing. 10/10 recommend. Great service and food was delicious!

Snow island is a hole in the wall soul food restaurant that live up to any expectations for the quality of food they prepare! I went there cause I was craving some southern comfort food and it was close to my house. I was skeptical at first because building, but looks are very deceiving and boy was I surprised. I ordered a two meat plate of fish and meat loaf with baked Mac and cheeseCabbage Dirty rice Collard greens The food was amazingly fresh and piping hot The meatloaf was so good I devoured it ignoring the sides!!The cabbage was delicious and Mac and cheeses melted in my mouth eliminating the craving I was experiencing.The dirty rice was okay I wanted more flavor to compete with the other side and the collard greens was snapping.My fish was so hot that after I eat all my food it was still hot enough to enjoy and crispy and NOT soggy like some people food get from being covered to long!I watch the game and the staff I mean family there working was so polite and respectful I forgot I was on the East Side of San Antonio!I loved the food better the Tony G's only because of there flavors and seasonings were on point and to my liking as a Black Puerto Rican you gotta have flavor if you want us to like your food and Tony G's oxtails was to greasy and not like the oxtails we eat at home, but Tony G's is still a good place to eat in my opinion but snow island is slightly better and more flavorful!In short snow island was jamming or how my daughter put it they was smacking and snapping! umm umm good!

Traveling through San Antonio on our way to New Orleans and made a dinner stop here. 3 takeaways:- Amazing food, made to order, and served fresh hot - Super friendly and helpful staff - Get there before 3pm if you want dessert!Perfectly chill, "everyone is welcome" vibes. It's a delicious, friendly dive. Bathrooms are in pretty rough shape, but that's not what you are going to come here for! Also please note the daiquiri part of the business seems to be no longer. Food and kool-aid to drink here! No daiquiris. Our family of five split 2 of the 2 meat platters including pork chops, fish, shrimp, and smothered chicken fried steak. Sides were collard greens, mashed potatoes (garlicky magic), Mac n cheese (also some kind of garlicky magic!), and yams.We are all stuffed because the portions are generous! I'm to leave San Antonio and this tasty place behind!

This is a hidden gem! We had a big order and were able to receive our food in a timely manner. Staff were friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and comforting! I had the smothered baked chicken with yams and Mac and cheese and devoured it! My husband enjoyed the catfish. Very good portions for the price! Great place on the East side !

really good, fresh, seasoned good, nice people working!! not too expensive and the koolaid was literally so good i alr knew the food was about to be good asf after that. ONLY THING, i like my fries crispier but i can probs just ask next time since they make everything fresh. definitely will go back :)

First, let me tell you, the trip to get to good food in this city from my house or my job is exhausting. It's going to be a 30-50 min drive in traffic and that's one way. But that's not in the business, that's just my observation because the food is good. So it's in a private lot on West WW White. Not bad getting into or out of in the late afternoon early evening hours. Don't look for a drive thru, there is not one. It's cool, going inside and waiting means fresh food and down for that. The walls are spray painted. The inside is clean. I'm still not doing a lot of eating in these days but if I were I would do so here. But I got my order to go. I decided on a 2 meat with fish & shrimp. I'm always torn between collards or cabbage. I tend to choose cabbage because I find not everyone can cook collards but most people can't mess up cabbage. I decided to go with my first mind and I'll try the collards next time. After returning home and taking a shower I was eager to dig in. Everything looked delicious and smelled divine. I tasted the cabbage. It was ok but cooked more tender than I like. I don't want it to bite back but I like to chew it. The macaroni & cheese was good and flavorful. I tried the shrimp and they were delicious. It seems like there's a hint of lemon seasoning on them. I enjoyed them a lot. An added plus was they were not over fried. I hate this part because the fish is where they lost a star. If there were 1/2 stars that's what I would rather have taken off. The fish was beautifully fried and they give you plenty but every single piece was heavy on the salt. Almost mouth puckering. I couldn't eat them plain with the dinner. I may end up making a sandwich out of the remaining pieces to help cut some of the salt. I've been yelping long enough to make a determination whether I'm going back to a place with a minor issue. I really think it may be a fluke and I'll definitely be going back at some point.Oh, that peach cobbler was a-ma-zing! See. I wish I could only take off 1/2 a star.

It is not much to look at from the outside, but it's all a hoax. They got some serious eats going on in there. The food is seasoned, generous, and delicious. We really enjoyed everything that we got and almost feel like we robbed the place. The service was quick and courteous. It felt like we were chilling at someone's house. Really had a great meal and will definitely be back. They even have red Kool-Aid, which should tell you everything that you need to know about this spot. At this time, they are cash or cash app only, so keep that in mind.

Went here and tried basically all the food and it was not what I expected at all. The fish, pork chops and shrimp were under cooked The sweet potatoes were from the can. Greens and macaroni had no taste needless to say I was disappointed especially because the reviews were good.

The food was awesome! I couldn't finish in one setting. I have leftovers. I am visiting from Houston on Sunday and was looking for some soul food. Everything was great! Anytime I am in San Antonio I will be back.

Omg y'all. This was amazing. The food was delicious. We got the 2 meat plate with pork chops and chicken fried steak with fries and okra. Y'all. First off the food was soo good. There was a wait because they cook every order fresh and it was worth every minute. Their service was friendly and efficient. The restaurant was clean and simple. Nothing fancy just a comfy spot to eat some good southern food. We will be back.
