Smokey Mo's BBQ

Mid. Wanted bbq and this was the first place that popped up in my google search. It had good Yelp reviews so I decided to drive over there. I got the two meat plate with brisket, chicken, mac & cheese and cheesy potatoes. I also got their limited time chocolate pie. Everything smelled sooo good. The pie looked great, the potatoes looked bland but the rest looked good. The chicken was yummy! It had a lot of pepper flavor but was good. The Mac and cheese reminded me of chick-fil-a's and was good too. The brisket was terrible. It was tough and chewy. The potatoes were an absolute shit show. The worst potatoes I've ever had. No flavor whatsoever and tasted like it was sitting in water. The pie was not that good either. It was super sweet but tasted like they used a super cheap chocolate or oil instead of butter to make it. I took a few bites and some bites had an odd taste to the crust. Then there would be a random huge chunk of chocolate chip. Chocolate fudge pies are my absolute favorite so I was HIGHLY disappointed with this. All together, my 2 meat plate and slice of chocolate pie cost me $23.25. I only ate the Mac & cheese and chicken. Everything else was thrown away. I ordered through the drive thru and the service was pretty quick which was nice. Overall, I will not be back.

First off- LOVE LOVE LOVE that they have SPUDS! But.. I opted out of indulging on one today. I went for the 1 meat combo instead. Burnt ends, the charro beans and a side salad with ranch. 13.99$ They have the quintessential white bread bagged and ready if you want it- containers of BBQ so you can decide how much or little you want PLUS- they have a wonderful cauldron of WARM BBQ sauce to up the game. They also have a sald bar type situation with pickled jalapeños, sliced onions, pickles and a couple choices of sauces. Love the decor - some country music playing to help - a variety of desserts including Banana Pudding, pecan pie and apple pie. Their menu is pretty great including a limited LUNCH MENU perfect for any budget. Recommend 100%

As a first-timer in San Antonio, I couldn't be more satisfied with my first experience at Lone Star! The brisket and ribs were absolutely incredible, so tender, flavorful and perfectly smoked. OMG, they were delicious and totally hit the spot! The sweet and tangy sauce was the perfect complement to the meat adding just the right balance of flavors. I have to mention the pumpkin slice--it was so fresh and a delightful way to finish the meal. The staff were super friendly and made the experience even better. Highly recommend to anyone looking for amazing BBQ!

Stopped into location off 410 for a quick business lunch. It's counter order set up. Lots of options on the menu. I got a baked potato with brisket. It was very good.

This is my first time here. I was met with a smile by the cashier and she was helpful with answering my questions about the menu. I ordered the #3 lunch special, by recommendation. It was very good! You can order it with your choice of a variety of meats; I chose lean brisket. The meat is so tender and flavorful! It's easy to see why they are rated so well.

My whole family hates their bbq sauce, so that hinders us being able to eat unless we take this to go. We also feel they are limited on sides and they are not that noteworthy. It's all freshly cooked but not the way we like them. We like buttered potatoes but theirs are bland. The corn is okay. Now what we really like from Smokey Moe's is their chicken. 5/5. Their chicken is one of the best we have had. You don't need any sauce on it. It's fine just the way it is. The other bbq is just average. Their breakfast tacos are pretty good. Good tortillas and eggs.

I went here for dinner while on a business trip to San Antonio, and on the recommendation of several local coworkers. When I realized that it was a chain, my expectations dropped significantly. I ordered the brisket (because Texas) and jalapeño sausage. The place is setup for quick service, and seems like your typical BBQ joint, so nothing special as far as ambiance, but basically what I was expecting from a quick service restaurant.The food came out so quickly, that I barely had time to fill my drink and sit down when they called my order.The brisket was flavorful, juicy and melt-in-your-mouth tender, much to my surprise. The jalapeño sausage was pretty tasty, but the casing was kind of tough. Not a deal-breaker, but a little chewier than I was expecting.The mac and cheese was flavorful and creamy, and the potato salad was pretty decent as well.While this isn't the best BBQ I've ever had, for a chain, it was definitely respectable.

Bruh. Like..... Didn't know it was a drive thru because I didn't read much and just wanted to see what's up with this TX BBQ. Convenient - 5It's a drive thru, nuff saidFood - 1.5BBQ was not it. Dry brisket that had a crumbling texture. Turkey was just dry. The only thing good was their jalapeno sausage. But please DO NOT GET the turkey wrap or any wrap at that. It's legit a flour tortilla with sliced meat in it. It's a flour taco with bbq meat and that's it. Do. Not. Buy. (Unless you're a 5 year old child and picky af)Service - 3They were nice, a little impatient because I was lost the whole time in their menu so it's a little on me.

Very delicious brisket and sausage along with the Mac and cheese. Very friendly staff.

Well we had been a regular customer and the BBQ was great till October then we noticed we were getting sliced that had some fat and by December 21,2024 it was all fat. We had sliced beef and a sliced sandwich and 70 % was pure waste. So we are now going to be looking for a new place o find some good BBQ. Usually when you see food quality go down especially BBQ it never recovers. Sad
