Skinny Black bbq & more

Food hasn't been very consistent. I've eaten and ordered food from here several times and something has been missing each time. The service is pretty shitty too. They have people answering the phone like I'm their homeboy or something. Also back on the food. Last time I was there they didn't have a meat I ordered which is no big deal but to swap it with something else and not even ask me what I'd like or tell me they didn't have it. I find out when I get back home and open it. The ambiance is whatever too. It's hella east side vibes. If you are from San Antonio you know what I mean.

Best bbq spot I have tried! Authentic home made food. Everything was delicious! We ordered a little bit of everything and everything was so good. Amazing hospitality. Definitely try the loaded potato! Will be coming back again!

Ordered the brisket an sausage with corn an beans. It was a hit!! The brisket slapped and the sausage was dynamite! The mean literally did not need bbq sauce. I will definitely be back. Plus they're open late. Everyone is super friendly and it felt like going to my uncles.

Well... If I could have tried the food I would give a better assessment. My family and I were in town for a AAU basketball tournament. We and three other families patiently waited for this place to "open" on a Sunday. We had 11 people waiting to either sit down or get food to go. An hour after they We're supposed to open we showed up and it was still closed up. There were two other customers there walking away from the door. I called the telephone number for to be answered by someone who apparently was still sleeping. Maybe the owner. He said he would be there in an hour. It would now be 2 hours before they even got there to begin cooking. We were in town from Houston and had to head back. We grabbed fast food and got on the road. They had the ability to make a couple of hundred dollars and apparently getting out of their bed wasn't a priority that day. We come to San Antonio off in for tournaments. This is one place we'll never go back to.

Small little spot; generous portions; good food. Not much space inside, but friendly owner. Check it out!

Place is a very local neighborhood "restaurant" located in a very small strip mall with 4 other businesses. There was no more than 3 tables inside and no outside dining was available. Food was good & tasty albeit on pricey side!! We paid almost $50 for a pound of brisket and a pound of pork ribs. The brisket and pork ribs we got did not look like a pound each and the "family size" corn we paid $6.75 for came in 2 small styrofoam coffee cups!!??Sorry, but with so many BBQ places to chose from, we will not be returning any time soon!

We found this spot by chance. After spending the day out on the river walk. We decided we wanted to have some Texas bbq. The first place we went to ran out of bbq and they closed at 9pm. So we were scrambling because it was getting late. Luckily Skinny Black bbq pop up. So we made the short ride over hoping they were open. It's a small bbq joint which is family owned. The owner and his family were very nice to us and made room for us to sit and eat dinner. The niece was very nice as she took our order. Have you ever ate food that brought happiness to you and left you feeling good? Well that's what happened here! These were the best ribs ever! Along with the side dishes. The meat was smoked to perfection! Taste was on point and the texture was just right. The two men who were in charge of the bbq. Came to check on us too very nice. My family left happy and well fed.

Every time I am in the east side for the MLK March. I always see this spot. Today I decided to check it out. Place is small but very homey. Everyone in there welcomes you. I appreciated all the pictures on the wall. I bought the two meat plate. It comes with two sides , trimmings (onions,pickles,bbq,2 slice of white bread and a small slice of cornbread). The meats I got where brisket and sausage. The brisket was so delicious and tender. Not over salted and moist. Sausage was well smoked and I also like that they sliced it. For side I got the creamy Mac and cheese and sweet yams. It didn't disappoint and I'm sure I'll be back. Also if you want a turkey leg you got to call early for it.

We chose this place off google as it was close to where we were staying ,it had great reviews and we were dying for bbq. We drove right by it the first time...definitely a hole in the wall. The aroma was awesome as we stepped out of the car. The guys there were so friendly, it was like sitting down to eat with family. The brisket was incredible and the ribs, fall off the bone, finger licking good. It was just the experience we were looking for, wish they were in our town of Vancouve, Washington
