Shipley Do-Nuts

There are so many people in that place not wearing gloves, the interior looks like it's not been cleaned and the donuts never seem to be fresh. We've gone there a couple of times thinking it's going to be better but it's not. It's an odd place and the people who work there never know the answers about which donuts are there, etc. Today we tried to pay with a Shipley gift card and the woman manning the takeout orders mumbled that she's not allowed to even do it. If you want Shipley donuts try another location rather than this one.

I feel neutral about Shipley. Nothing about it screams at me to come back, but nothing also screamed to never come back.The apple fritter was mediocre.

Donuts are fresh and delicious. Kolaches are tops. Sweet staff. Love that they have a drive thru.

I am very underwhelmed.I was told that the devils food donut was good, and that was true. However, the pace has no character, it's like you stepped into 1950's a lot more decadent. The staff is friendly and they are very accommodating . They do special orders if you need a lot of product. I had the kolache and I could have gone without. Lacked flavor and creativity. It was cheap so I'm not too upset. Give it a try if you mist, but I'm not coming back.

I was out early this morning and decided to stop by here and it couldn't have been even 30 minutes after they opened. I was a little concerned by the ratings and thought, maybe this is one of those cases where it's isolated I mean it's donuts what can you mess up? I had a quick lesson in not asking questions that you don't want to find out the answers to. I don't know if it was a day old donut or what, but it wasn't even hot - I've been to several other Shipley's and that's what makes the morning times ideal for these - they should be fresh and when they're fresh it's like a worldly experience - it's the same reason why the line at Krispy Kreme grows when the light is on versus when it's not. They practically melt in your mouth! This was not it. It was cold, flakey, messy and not up to the standards I'm used to and/or that Shipleys would want served. The staff was nice enough so I can give a star for that, but based on food quality/standards I would not return to this location.

I go door to door for work and i came in soaked and the people were so sweet throughout my visit. The food was also delicious. I love that its not a very big store and the vibe here is definitely something that makes you want to come in for breakfast every day. 10/10

I've tried donuts from here multiple times since I moved to San Antonio, and the quality is consistent: bad.A few things are obvious, like the oil being too hot and most of the donuts are over cooked or even burned. A few things are a more nuanced, like the oil is bad and gives all the donuts a bad flavor regardless of whether they were over cooked or not. The final took me a few tries to pinpoint, but it's telling across both donuts and kolaches; the dough is overworked. All of their pastries have a tougher chewy texture. There are other things that are more subjective based on my personal preferences. The amount of filling is not very much. The icing isn't consistent from visit to visit. Try donuts somewhere else, and if you prefer Shiplet's then maybe you should try to avoid this location.

Went by Saturday morning the guy in the front was rude. He didn't want to give me two boxes. Then he would aggressively grab the donuts & Toss them in. He asked if I was paying cash or card when I said cash he rolled his eyes at me, when I gave him cash he said he couldn't take it because he didn't have change so I gave him my card & he rolled his eyes at me again. Hopefully next time I go by he isn't there with his bad service.
