I happened upon this place as I was leaving Sprouts, and I am so happy to have discovered it! It is a small store (smaller than a convenience store), but it has so many interesting European items! They have a wide selection of German chocolates, packaged and freezer packaged desserts, pasta, canned items, frozen entrees, deli meats, snacks, fresh bread, and cookies! A friendly customer walked me around the store and gave me her recommendations. I tried a sparkling rye drink and black currant sponge cookie snack! Both were very delicious. I am excited to go back to try their dried/canned food and jams! Some of the products don't have prices, but the owners and employees are always nearby so you can ask them for the price!

I am so glad I stopped by at this perfect little store on my way home. I can't believe we don't something like this in Austin. There is a huge Russian speaking community in Austin now and they can't fully enjoy imported products from post Soviet Union republics. Anyways, I was impressed by variety and quality of products. You can find here some deli, pastries, basic pharmacy products, drinks, frozen premade foods, all kinda yummy stuff and lots of candies. A nice lady behind the counter went out of her way to explain and answer some questions. Store is well organized, clean and in a convenient location. I don't go to BEM store in Austin anymore. It feels like in museum, full of stuff on the shelves, not necessarily the best, overpriced. Whenever I am in Houston or San Antonio I will make a quick stop at Russian store.

This store is more Slavic than anything other part of Europe. The food is good if you are Slavic and used to it but it is very overpriced. The owner is nice, but that might be because my family has spoken Russian with her. The store overall feels very Eastern European which is nice. The only negative thing is that the prices are very high.

Things that I look for when I walk into a restaurant and market is the presentation, the products and the workers. I see plenty of Eastern European decorations and products. You can buy souvenirs from Russia without leaving the country. That's awesome . The food products were a challenge for me since I am not entirely familiar with Russian culture but, here is where the employee came in handy, the lady working there was able to break down the products and guide me to things that I would be interested in. She was better than a car dealer and was honest and polite the whole time. I totally LOVED IT!!! I loved this experience and will be making more visits to this location. Check this place out!!!

Sasha's is the only place in the San Antonio area who carries the Eastern European products she does. Real, fresh, salted herring in a variety of styles, not like Vita from HEB or sugar & dill Scandinavian style from Central Market. Borsec sparkling water from Romania. Lithuanian and Russian style loaves of breads. Preserves and jams with ingredients I don't see elsewhere like Cornelian cherries. Bulgarian cheeses, Russian style salami's, types of bacon, fatback, and sausage not sold elsewhere. Russian teas, a whole aisle's worth. Wavel candy from Poland. Mozart kugeln. Ukrainian mustard, German Stollen. And much, much more. I've always found the staff very knowledgeable and helpful. Some reviews speak of bad service. I've not seen it. Also it's never been very crowded. No long lines to check out. I've been shopping there for many years. It's worth the trip from New Braunfels to us.

Only place in San Ant where you can get authentic Russian treats! Specifically, go for Tulskiye Pryaniki and Gematogen, if you want to create a real Russian experience for yourself. Get some to impress your comrades too!
