Ok, this review requires an update, and it's a good news, bad news situation. This place used to be called Santa Diabla, and it was a very different culinary concept than what the new Salsita is. Let's start with the good: The crazy tasty three way chips and salsa from my Santa Diabla review are still there, and are still great. The service and overall quality of the food are also still of a high standard. As for what's changed, well... almost everything else. The original was a very avant garde and "bleeding edge" place, with fusion flavors and daring combinations of ingredients, which I dearly loved. You might see sweet and savory mixed, pomegranate pearls as a topper on a mole dish, things like that. The decor matched that vibe. It was a place to go if you wanted to try something new and different. With the switch to Salsita, the menu has changed to a much more traditional tex mex fare, although there are still some off-the-beaten path dishes. The decor is like a south of the border taco stand, with bright colors and less "sophistication". The mixologist curated cocktail menu that was as thoughtful and creative as the food, is pared way back or non-existent. But there are still some good, if familiar, cocktails of high quality. Bottom line: If you're expecting Santa Diabla, I'm going to be very frank: you may be disappointed. It's not that place with a different name, it's a whole new place. But as I said from the beginning, it's still a quality restaurant that's serving good food. so don't pass it up.
