I recently dined at Sakana, and the experience was excellent from start to finish. The restaurant was clean, inviting, and had a relaxed, chill atmosphere that made it easy to settle in and enjoy the evening. The staff were incredibly friendly and fast, ensuring that we were well taken care of throughout the meal. The food was just as impressive. Every dish was beautifully presented with attention to detail. We started with the takoyaki, a unique experience for me as it was my first time trying it. The fried octopus paired with eel sauce was absolutely delicious and left a lasting impression. For the main course, we had the karaage ramen. The broth was super yummy--rich and flavorful, complementing the generous portion of perfectly cooked noodles. The noodles themselves were just right--not too stiff or too soft. Every bite was satisfying and comforting. We also ordered the chicken fried rice, which was cooked to perfection with a large portion of tender chicken. One standout detail was the personal touch from the manager, who visited our table to check on our experience and ensure everything was to our liking. It was a thoughtful gesture that showed their commitment to providing great service.Overall, Sakana delivered an exceptional dining experience, and I look forward to returning soon!

Good news is they have improved on their fried rice since my last review.Wish I could give 2.5 starsBad news is:Never had so many knats flying around our food! Annoying, and we wondered why.Everyone ordered the Habachi entree, we had variations of Veggie, Beef, Shrimp and Scallops.Soup was good tho kinda thin. Salad was not bad, dressing was mainly mayo, could use more ginger.Habachi was full of teriyaki sauce, hard to taste the Habachi. If you like Teriyaki, you will like it but they really should not add the sauce, rather give you a choice afterward to apply it yourself. Service kinda stunk. First, reception was not very friendly, the guy that sat us said the menu was on the wall, point to a QE code, (that did not work), and refused to give us more than one hard copy menu for 5 people. He kept saying only one, only one. So we had take pics and share it.Meanwhile, pretty much had to hunt down the female server each time, for basics as utensils, sauces, questions, dessert inquiry.Dessert Chocolate mochi was hard and you need a knife. Nothing special.Bubba teas were all dairy.Server did not understand gluten when asked about the mochi. Original mochi is pure rice but many American styles add gluten to thicken the product, esp in the grocery stores.Think IF it's lunch during the week day, we may try it again. But not anytime soon. The place as hoppin, glad for them on a Saturday.

First, food: Disappointing. BBQ pork (bao) buns are lacking depth of flavor without the proper pickling of the veggies & the pork is closer to a slice of Thanksgiving ham than properly rendered pork belly. Fried rice, hibachi chicken and veggies are all missing sufficient salt in addition to other flavors. The peas are either reconstituted or freezer burnt. The "yum yum" sauce is more like 90% Japanese mayo. The ramen should be called Maruchan Top Ramen with reconstituted miso. True ramen connoisseurs will be quite disappointed. Proper techniques in broth creation were skipped. Ginger salad is cut too big for a single bite--not a fan of sauce on my chin. The gyoza was a'right and THANK GOODNESS properly pan fried.Service: Lacking attention. The language barrier is a problem but therefore the waitress should be following up after food is delivered to see if everything was correct. But instead I had to catch a busser to get the waitress' attention after I'd waited about 7 minutes after my husband got his food and I was still waiting on missing parts of my meal.Of course this is the only Asian sort of restaurant like this in the south side; but it's worth the extra 10 minutes for me to get a 100% better meal. I really was hoping this was a gem.

we love an upcoming new restaurant! not only is it a vibe in here, but it just gives almost everything that it needs to.one thing i want them to do better about is the flavor/amount of eel in the avocado eel roll. i tasted more of the avocado when eating it & it was disappointing because it seemed like they were stingy about the eel.tonkatsu ramen 5/5 starsi love the broth, so good. the pork was so delicious.karaage ramen 4/5 starsyummy, broth was okay, the chicken was crispy and they had it separate which i very much appreciated because it wasn't soggy.takoyaki 5/5 starsnot too saucey because other places can do too much with theirs so periodthai boba 5/5you can adjust the sugar levels, i got 25% and it was perfect like thatservice: pretty attentive and fast

We enjoyed everything we ordered. The decor is so cute. Customer service was fantastic. The food came out right away and the waitress checked on us the right amount of times- with a smile on her face every time. I can't recommend enough! We will definitely be back

Looong wait to be seated and served on a crowded friday night. I didn't see much servers and the place is too big. Ratio is not good for staff/tables. We ordered appetizers but were cold-shunai, edamame and calamari. It was too long of a a wait for them to get our main dish orders and we decided to leave. Clean but too big for the number of staff. We ended up going somewhere else to finish welcome dinner for my son who was visiting from NY.

New restaurant alert! I popped in to try their sushi and seaweed salad and it did not disappoint. Very tasty food and the friendliest service. I was chatting with some other people dining in and they were saying how excited they were to have this restaurant in their area that's saturated with Mexican restaurants. They were excited to have Japanese food as an option to dine in their area. I think it was exactly what the neighborhood needed! I wish I caught the name of my server because he was so kind, attentive, and gave great recommendations. I hope to return to try their ramen soon! The food was goood

This was my first time hearing about this delicious restaurant from my partner, I was so excited to give it a try since there's rarely any places like this around. When we first walked in we were given a comfortable welcome and were seated very quickly. We wanted to try the Thai Thea Boba drink but wanted less sugar as possible and the employee was quick to give us options to lower sugar options which was super helpful. The Takoyaki Balls were the first dish I tried and they were so delicious I had no complaints! My main dish was the Tonkatsu Ramen and it was literally so perfect the only thing I wish is there was more pork slices cause my dish only came with 3 and I would have liked one or two more for my big dish. Overall the vibe of the restaurant was professional and enjoyable, I had a joyful experience and would definitely come here on a regular basis!

Finally tried out this new place on Valentine's Day! We got sat quickly and was pleasantly surprised by the interior, a lot bigger inside than I thought. We selected one of their special preset meals for the occasion, and it was definitely worth it! A lot of delicious food for the money for sure!! Service was great, everything came out quickly and did not disappoint, can't believe we finally have Hibachi near by that's actually really good! The steak Hibachi was the best!! Will definitely be back again and again.
