I placed an order online for delivery last month for a few menu items. I found this location on Yelp. Let's get to it!Picada Colombiana is a dish of fried ingredients like steak, chicken, arepa, potato, yuca, morcilla, chorizo, chicharron, carne de cerdo, and plantain. The word picada means "chopped" in Spanish. The picada is prepared in the mortar and must contain a basic triad: almond, bread and some liquid. Almonds are toasted and can be replaced by another nut like hazelnut, pinenut, walnut, or some combination of those. Bread is crushed in a mortar after being made dry and hard from going stale, being toasted, or being fried in oil. Otherwise, some sort of sweet biscuit or cookie may be used. The liquid used is usually the cooking juice but stock or hot water can be used as well. This dish had flavor and lots of it! This dish in particular was only served with pork. The pork and spice combination used here was peppery and earthy at the same time and a bit on the dry side. PlantnosPlantains contain more starch and less sugar than dessert bananas, so they are usually cooked or otherwise processed before being eaten. They are typically boiled or fried when eaten green, and when processed, they can be made into flour and turned into baked products such as cakes, bread and pancakes. These plantains had a bit of cinnamon for sweetness and were a bit limp but served their purposes as a desert that could even out the dryness of the picada. The food served here was above average but not the most spectacular Columbian dishes I've encountered. However, for those looking to get their feet wet with Colombian food, this may be your spot.

Recomendado.

The food is good, a bit overpriced also their Colombian products are overpriced . They normally don't put a price on them so they charge as they wish. The female owner is extremely rude to the costumers and her employees which it makes it impossible to enjoy the food.. so try at your own risk :)

The place was clean, welcoming but the arepa with cheese... the dough was undercooked, The cup of hot chocolate was pretty authentic. Ajiaco lacked flavor, but empanadas do not have the right recipe. It was filled with picadillo like a fusion of another culture. Empanadas normally have a beef cut in small squares like stew with potato spice to it. Anyway it's a spot but it needs more feeling in their food. oh well!!Service was nice Thanks...

My son and I were planning to eat dinner together at another venue, but it was closed. I suggested Sabor De Sanchez, because we had been there once when it first opened and really liked it. We tried to go a couple of times after that, but it was full. We are both a little too shy to stand waiting for a table in a tiny crowded restaurant.Today, there were plenty of spaces for us at the six tables inside. We both ordered a Pony Malta to drink. It was really good. It was almost the same as a Goya Malta, but had a richer flavor. For food, we each ordered the Bandeja Paisa. It was a platter of non-ending goodies including, rice, beans, sausage, skirt steak, chicharrone, plantains, avocado, an egg, and a little bread circle. Everything tasted delicious, especially when we put some of the aji Colombian salsa on it. They gave us so much food that we each brought half of it home with us, something that almost never happens! Before leaving, we ordered some empenadas (2 chicken and 2 beef) just because we like them. I ate one of mine when we got home while it was still hot and crunch. Absolutely wonderful. Now, I need to say that today was my second try of Colombian food- both times being at Sabor De Sanchez. I can not comment on the authenticity, although a Columbian lady siting next to us told me it was the best and most authentic Colombian food in San Antonio. What do I know. I'm just someone who likes to eat different kinds of food. On my personal fatman scale this place is rated "excellent"!

Me: Shoukd J write a reviewe for Sabor de Sanchez? My husband to me: I don't know.....how would you say the Sancocho was?Me: DEEEELICIOUS! I was mad when it was gone! So yes, I should write a review. The location is very small, but the food was stellar. The food was a 5. It was so good I don't even have pictures! We at it all. My husband had the Bandeja Paisa and we have Arepas de chocolo. Whew...the arepas were so flavorful and buttery. The Sancocho had a depth of flavor that only well made soups have. Regresaremos....

Hot take - this is actually some of the best food in San Antonio and it's a little hole in the wall next to a gas station. It's all super fresh, super authentic and actually it's one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten.
