Rudy’s Country Store and Bar-B-Q

I lived in Austin for over 20 years and was spoiled by the quality of Rudy's located around Austin. This Rudy's is an odd variant of the Rudy's name with much lower quality BBQ and service. The sausage is good, but the brisket is mediocre and not very smoky. Also, the spicy BBQ sauce is not available at this Rudy's. Ambiance is rustic. Service is slow.

Nah...Our first time in Texas and this was the place we went to first as we had to try it regardless of the mix reviews. Friendly service and they were great...it's just the brisket was very dry like multiple reviews. It had good smoke but was dry. Pork ribs were juicy but just like most reviews...lack seasoning. Cream corn was delicious and also the potato salad. Great atmosphere and love the support they have for our military. However I know there are many better bbq places than this one.

Keeping them at 2 Stars, not because of the food, but because of the serving / ordering line. They need organizational help !!! I could easily fix the problem, not sure why management can't !!! Not a great experience until you get your food and then sit down to eat.

Decided to try Rudy's based on an ad in todays newspaper stating they have prime rib on Thursday. No prime rib, no apologies or reason, just a rather curt "we don't have prime rib". So we ordered ribs and Mac and cheese. Mac and cheese was cold and when we brought it to their attention they admitted the warmer was malfunctioning and offered a refund or potato salad. Not the Rudy's we are know! Maybe just a bad day but we won't be returning.

So sad. I love Rudy's! I usually go to the one in new Braunfels. But I have been to several other locations and they are all pretty consistent. This location really dropped the ball. There is absolutely no quality control going into their food, recipes, and packaging. First of all, they forgot one of my sausages. Then I get home and the brisket they gave me is so dry, you can see in the picture. they also gave me pickles and onions, those were all of the onions that I got. It looks like scraps. Honestly save yourself the disappointment and go to a different location.

Another late night, another easy takeout experience.Rudy's barbecue might now be synonymous with fast barbecue, but that could be further from the truth. It takes awhile to do barbecue and their pitmasters know what they're doing I've been to various locations, and the Nakoma location is closest to home. And on the way back from Noah's soccer practice.I decide on takeout as it's getting close to the close of their day. Order the meats, order the sides, you get to watch the folks slice up your order in a big screen. They bag it up, and not more than 4min later... I had my order in hand and was out the door.The cream of corn is epic. Brisket was well balanced. My 1/2 lbs pork rib was huge.In and out, and back home to go all carnivore. No line, they had an abundance of everything at 7pm. It was easy.I like Rudy's. I'll be back

Shockingly bad briskets and baby back ribs. The locations in Austin are all great and taste exactly the same but this location is absolutely terrible. The ribs were tough and tasteless and the briskets were chewy. No smoke flavor AT ALL. The only thing similar is the bbq sauce. I am thoroughly disappointed and cannot stress that enough.

Brisket bone dry, chicken dry, ribs dry.... Sides meh, 70.00 down the drain ... Go somewhere else

We dropped in after working at Space Con with a group of 8 tired and hungry. Got greeted by these 2 lovely guys named Dillion & Paul (Mgr)! They gave us samples of the delicious cream corn. As we decided what to get because everything on the menu looked great! Thank you Dillion & Paul for a wonderful experience with excellent service!! You guys are rock stars!! Highly recommend stopping by!!

I agree with Patrick and sky from previous reviews what has happened to this franchise it used to be great especially the Leon Springs location and new Braunfels. I've been going there for years but after tonight I won't be back again.
