Oh how I've missed Peruvian food! Don't let this literally hidden gem in a strip mall deter you... not very easy to find. Park and walk inside and you'll be transported to some darn good food. Casual order at the counter kinda place and sit anywhere you like. We ordered :Pollo a La Brasa- 1/2 chicken that was seasoned so well and tasted delicious! Fall off the bone !It was accompanied with cilantro green rice (extra $1.99) . Gotta have this green goodness, it's one of a kind. It also came with a salad. Lomo Saltado with Beef- a well known dish on every Peruvian menu. A must try! It's a concoction of protein, french fries, and grilled onions and tomatoes atop of white rice. I'm always leery of ordering beef for fear of it being dry, but this beef was soooooo tender that it put a big smile on my face. The only negative was that the dish was salty. Another must try and add to your dish is their green house sauce- possibly mayo base, but this sauce needs to be bottled at every Peruvian restaurant. It's a spicy one that you can dash not everything. Yum! We will be back!Military discount offered.

I love Rocotos! Everything from the service on the phone and in person to the food is amazing! The restaurant itself is rather small and tucked in a shopping center but there's still plenty of seating. I'm a creature of habit and order the pollo a brasa every single time for lunch. The chicken is cooked perfectly and is well seasoned. The salad and the dressing is amazing! Don't forget the fries! Everything here is amazing! This is one of my favorite restaurants in San Antonio, and will definitely come back time and time again.

It was the husband and my first time here. We both ordered the Lomo Saltado and shared the Ceviche. The food was very good. It's been more than 2 years since we've had Peruvian food. Our favorite was the ceviche. The young man that helped us with our order, suggested eating the sweet potato with the seafood and red onion together. The marriage of flavors was so good I couldn't help but eat more and more!!!When we finally finished, the husband and I shared a cookie that left the taste of caramel lingering in your mouth wanting more. This was a geat find. It was up there with El Polla Inka from California. Great food

Finally posting my review after our second visit last Friday the 15th. Our first visit was not totally good, they were out of Pollo A La Brasa and it was around dinner time on a Friday?!!! Anyway, I ordered Pesdado Frito instead and my cousin ordered Seco de Res. I loved my fish, it was light breaded and the breading was flavorful. My cousin also enjoyed his beef stew although they ran out of canary beans that goes with it. I tried sampling the sauce of the Seco de Res and it was really good, flavorful and tasted like it's been cooked slowly all day. It was our first time to try a Peruvian restaurant here in San Antonio and though they have some dish or items unavailable, the food tasted good but for the portion size, it's pricey, that's why is one less star from my rating. But still, we visited again just last Friday and I made sure they have the chicken available by calling them ahead of time. We arrived just around the same early dinner time like the previous Friday. The place is clean and well-kept, including the bathroom, no foul or stinky odor at all.The young lady in the counter was also warm and welcoming just like the young lady the previous Friday. This time I ordered 1/2 Pollo A La Brasa and I also ordered an extra side of plantain. Love the black beans as a side and I really enjoyed the chicken. My cousin ordered Seco de Res for the second time and this time they have the canary beans as a side. We still enjoyed the good flavorful food we ordered. But I didn't touch the butter sauce that goes with the chicken, it was waaaayyyy too salty, actually extremely salty. It's like they used salted butter and a whole lot more salt was accidentally poured on it. But even without that butter sauce or something, my chicken is still good.Over all, service was great and fast, cleanliness and ambience is also great, food tasted good but not really sure why it's kind of expensive for the amount of serving we got.

We headed to @rocotosgrill for lunch today. There were 2 tables of Spanish-speaking families, so it was promising.Dad had Mango Juice (a very tall drink), Hubby had Topo Chico, and I had the well-made Pisco Sour Passion Fruit. We started off with Ceviche de Pescado (fish). I liked this dish but hubby felt it was too vinegary. We shared the 1/4 Pollo a la Brasa (rotisserie chicken), Tamales, and Aji de Gallina (creamed shredded chicken). The Peruvian food was authentic, but on the salty side. The best was the ending with the Alfajores, which is a Peruvian shortbread with dulce de leche. If I wasn't so full, I would've eaten 5 more.

I stopped in here one day after running errands and the smell is captivating! It smells so good the minute you walk in. Very clean, tidy dining area with ability to seat yourself. You place your order at the counter and they give you a number and bring out your order. The cashier was very friendly and told us what some of the items were on the menu but I wish they had pictures on the menu and a full description of what you are getting. For instance, we ordered the causa de pollo as an appetizer described as shredded chicken and a mashed potato. Nowhere on there did it indicate that it was refrigerator cold. It was layers of mashed potato with what looked like chicken salad paste in the middle. It wasn't awful but wasn't great. A bit zesty like it had lemon juice, and I definitely wasn't expecting something slathered in mayo. The Aji de Gallina was another one that I wasn't expecting. The girl said a yellow sauce but this was more of a very thick gravy. Not what I was expecting based off of her description, I really wish they would put pictures on the menu. The sauce had enough salt but was missing something, when I added some of the pickled onions from my husbands dish it was better but I just wasn't a fan of that thick yellow paste on my chicken. My husband ordered the arroz con pollo a la brasa and it was very good. It felt like a nice home cooked meal. The rice and chicken were both very flavorful but some of the juice from the chicken on the rice would've been nice. We loved the fried yucca, they were steaming hot and fresh and you could tell they use fresh, clean oil to fry them. The tamarindo juice was good, just not that cold. If it was colder it would've been perfect. All in all it was nice to try something new, if I try them again I'll be sure to read more reviews and look at the food pictures to make selections that are more to my liking.

We were patrons of the old location that closed and saw that they have reopened at a new location. The new location is a counter service restaurant with many of the same delicious dishes and the Peruvian decor and music. We certainly missed their food. We ordered the Lomo Saltado with green rice and Chicharrones de Pescado with chicha morada to drink. It was all just as delicious as we remembered and looking forward to going back for some other of our favorite dishes.

We have been to this restaurant many years ago when they were closer to 1604. Found them again on Yelp. Only restaurant in San Antonio who serves aji de Gallina (that we know of). Friendly service. Fair prices. Will go again for sure. Wish they were closer to NE side of town.

Quaint restaurant with fast service and delicious food. The workers were very helpful in answering questions and providing suggestions. We ordered a whole chicken that came with white rice and salad. This never disappoints! The chicken was perfectly seasoned and cooked. And the sauces add that extra hit each bite.

Their chicken was a bit salty but over all delicious! We don't have a Peruvian restaurant where we live so we were happy to try this one.
