A tucked off little location, stopped by here during my lunch break for something quick.Walking in I knew the food was going to be good because I felt like I was walking into a family kitchen If you know you know, I got the Asada Taco and Brisket Taco. The brisket taco took my SOULLL lemme tell you! 8/10, GAS!The asada taco wasn't the greatest in the world, but I think with a few tweaks (maybe some caramelized onions & cheese) I'd say 7.5/10.Overall a wonderful experience, the service was wonderful, wait time was only about 10 minutes from the time we ordered to the plates being sat down.I'd definitely give this spot a try if you're looking for something quick but that also tastes good!

The food was decent but the loud machine in the back of house made this experience very unpleasant!

Rockys Taco House #2 occupies two memories for me that converge in the end.The line snaked around the building; gente del barrio came to see an icon who starred in one of the most important Chicano films. A relatively cool 93 degrees & overcast sky provided some relief as folks waited to see the legend. The folks in front of me, a father dressed in chanclas & clearly removed from his recliner just minutes ago, & his son, in a movie shirt, had no concern for the 1 1/2 hour wait, the heat, & the fact he was doing a meet n greet at a taco joint. We were there to meet nuestro Guero.***Rocky's is your typical taco joint in San Antonio. Wobbly tables, sweet tea, & different model TVs adorn this Southside mainstay. It's 24 hour walk up booth provides folks w/ tacos any time.A variety of daily specials & one of the best values in breakfast tacos (currently 3 for 2.75) means it gets busy here. The tacos are serviceable but it's hard to mess up an egg & bacon taco. The country ala Mexicana is here to do its job; hearty & filling, even if it's a bit dry. The homemade tortillas are a bit heavy w/ flour but w/ the juicy prep of the tacos, it makes sense.***We finally walked into Rocky's Taco House & the wild setup included scattered tables, black bags hung like drapes, & print outs (not photo quality prints) were strewn on a table, flanked by two enthusiastic, if tired, helpers. "It'll be $20""Oh, nah, I don't want anything, no mas quiero un foto w/ him & my son.""Yes, it's $20 for a selfie.""Oh""Or you can purchase a print, have him sign it, and take a picture for free.""Oh, ok."As he perused, she rattled off prices. $20 for a small 8x10, $40 for a 8x20. Regardless, it was an additional $20 for his signature. The stunned father asked about a car freshener; $10 but no signature, so no photo. His son saw his shock but his anxious bounce revealed his desire.Dad eventually shelled out $30, his son excited, but Dad was easily exasperated, the same look I remember I had when I was young & financially strapped. He, like many in line, are not your Comic con attendees, with cash to spare; even more upsetting, none of these prices were on the flyers.***The pork chop taco has become an urban legend in San Antonio. A monstrosity to some, a classic to others, it's inclusion in San Antonio cuisine is certainly unique on a breakfast / lunch taco. Bone in, sizable, & hefty, it's served whole & open faced. The taco is bereft of toppings, salsa, or anything else except the salt & pepper preparation. At Rocky's, the pork chop taco is large, unwieldy; cooked to perfection, it's easily one of the best in terms of tenderness & juiciness. The taste was where it was a bit lacking; the pork chop didn't have enough of that salty finish & lacked punch. I did add some homemade green salsa which gave it a bit more sabor. However, even the salsa is a bit light in the flavor density; a good spicy take but also going light from start to finish.***I purchased several posters for friends & proceeded to meet the actor for my fandom and my profession. I produce two shows on the FM dial in Houston and was hoping to have him on, as well as on a podcast, to discuss his latest project. I showed him our latest show which featured another Blood In Blood Out legend, Danny Trejo. I was trying to demonstrate that our show was not some small time operation. He immediately shut me down, telling me to pass my number to Nick, his manager. As he personalized my pictures, an issue broke out and he had to leave. I sat there for 15 minutes, waiting, wondering how I could better my ask.As he came back, he remarked, "Hey, you're still here?""Yea, I have one more poster. My friend is a 3X Best Selling NY Times author and coincidentally is a huge fan of yours. In fact, he even had your picture as his avatar." I brought up his profile on Twitter, where he has 425K followers."Hey Nick, look at this!!! This guy is famous and has my picture on his profile! You said he's an author?""Yea, and when unsuspecting people ask him about his profile picture, he says it's his uncle who is locked up and lost his leg to the streets. It's so funny, and we both love Blood In Blood Out. He has a podcast as well.""No kidding, you should have him interview me! Make sure Nick has your info. Thanks for coming!"***Miklo turned out to be Rocky's Bone In Pork Chop Taco. The stories leave you in a state of anticipation that unfortunately exceeds the actual interaction. Once you get past your initial expectation, you realize that everything you heard wasn't necessarily true, and in fact, once you actually get a taste, you realize you are disappointed. I'm not saying you shouldn't have a pork chop taco a Rocky's or meet your childhood hero from your favorite movie; I'm just saying be prepared to lose a part of your soul. They say you should never meet your hero's, & in this case, Rocky's Taco House proves the idiom true... twice.

I love that it's near my house and open 24/7. It's so nice to come here after a late night for me and my artist friends who are up at all hours. There's always people here day or night and you can't beat the prices. I had better experiences at night though. The one time went during the day the waiter was flirting with my friend a little too much and there were two hairs in my eggs. I lost my appetite after that and also my desire to go there. We went back late at night for take-out. I still don't know if I'll go back but in a pinch late at night maybe, but for now I pack my fridge with tortillas, beans, eggs and bacon and just make my tacos at home.

The pozole I ordered came without hominy at all. I was shocked. How do you leave out the post important part of the recipe? I called the restaurant after I discovered this, and the lady said "it all depends on what we have at the time. Sometimes you don't get it with hominy sometimes you do" lol. It came with two stale tostadas that had no crunch at all. So gross. I do not recommend going here at all unless it's 3am cuz nothing else nearby is open.

I've visited this place 2 times before, great food and priced pretty cheap. But today's visit, I didn't even get to eat and will never return. Plate came to the table with something sticking out of the beans, and yup, it's a roaches wing. Fished out a whole complete 1 inch roach in the beans. Sucks cause the food was good, but never again.
