Cute place and knowledgeable staff. The chips and several salsas were excellent and boded well for the meal. The pastor tacos are the best thing on the menu. Because the pineapple is served (fresh) on the side, the meat is tender but not overly soft from pineapple enzymes during cooking. The Ro-Ho preparation yielded a tender, juicy, very flavorful meat that was perfect in a taco, garnished with onions, cilantro, and pineapple. The Pork Butt Carnitas Torta Ahogada is delicious and huge. Easily feeds two people. The bread is fabulous. While the carnitas was again a bit dull for our taste, the tomato-y dipping sauce and extra salsas zhuzhed it up quite well. Make sure you get a bite with onions, radish and cabbage along with the sandwich. The extra crunch makes it. I think next time I'll have my dipping sauce on the side instead of poured over because it does make the bread soggy.Plan on using lots of paper towels. This is a messy meal. Our chilaquiles fans didn't care for the chilakillers. The chips were too sturdy and the carnitas was too bland. Too many onions, and they weren't pickled long enough. It still was tasty, but I probably wouldn't order it again.Recommended.

I discovered Ro-Ho while watching Good Eats, and my partner promptly arranged a day and time for us to go there. We had the pleasure of dining at Ro-Ho Pork and Bread on a breezy Saturday morning. I must say, it was a delightful experience. The restaurant offers cozy, vibrant cultural colors, a warming smell of authentic spices, and a welcoming atmosphere with friendly staff. The highlight of the meal was, of course, their signature pork dishes. The pork was incredibly tender and full of flavor, and the portion sizes were more than generous. I tried their pork sandwich, and it was absolutely mouthwatering--for next time I would ask to have the sauce on the side. The bread was fresh, soft, and perfectly complemented the pork. The menu offers a variety of options; however, it is a very small menu.If you're in the area and craving hearty, flavorful comfort food, Ro-Ho Pork and Bread is definitely worth a visit. I'll be coming back for sure!

Friday night at the ranch. We're about to head south for the GFs birthday on Saturday. I'm mulling food options in my head for the weekend. Well, Triple D answered that question and sent us to Ro-Ho Pork and Bread as our Saturday lunch stop. You'll never see this place from the freeway; kinda off the beaten path in a business area. Once you enter you'll find a simple order at the counter process. No soda machine, bottled drinks including beer in a nearby cooler. Find an available table and the food comes quickly.I ordered the Al Pastor tacos to start. This pork is fired on a spit and the meat shows this with it's crisp exterior. Possibly the best pastor taco I've ever had. I also had to try the torta as seen on the show. GF tried the taco version of the same dish.A house made bolillo split and stuffed with your choice of pork. Doll it up any way you want with shredded cabbage, radish, and pickled onions. A tomato based sauce completes the chef's vision of this dish. The plate presented as an art piece. There were a few minor issues; the pork itself wasn't that flavorful. Also, if you have any dental work the bread is SUPER hard. I did think of something as a solution. I'd offer the "dipped" solution ala Chicago Italian Beef. Dip the entire bolillo on request!

This spot has been on my list of must visit locations in SA for a long time! Finally made it and WOW it exceeded expectations. Everything we tried, which was quite a few items, were all absolutely delicious. Attention to detail is apparent and appreciated. Everything was so well crafted, super fresh and balanced. I would highly suggest this place, and already have to MANY people now. I can't wait to go back.

Recommend: Yes (N. New Braunfels Ave location). Checking out Ro-Ho has been on my to do list for quite some time. I came here on a Friday evening. There are two buildings that sort of hide the front door/restaurant but the Ro-Ho sign is easy to see in the evening. Parking in front of building may see limited but there is plenty of places to park. Food: I selected the crispy carnitas taco and the chillakillers with carnitas as well. I also opted for a jamaica flavored margarita and soda. The total for food was about $35.00. The portions were a good size. I would venture to say that two people could share the chilaquiles. There was a ton of meat served, and the chips were very crispy. The taco was also very crispy with a good amount of carnitas. Both the taco and chilaquiles had a tomatoes based sauce with oregano which was tasty. The carnitas lacked flavor but overall the food was ok. There was a salsa you could add (it was very spice but very good). The margarita was very cold, strong, and tasted very good. Service: The service was good. My order was taken quickly at the counter and delivered in about 5 mins to my seat. The staff was helpful in answering my questions. Ambiance: The ambiance is good, there is music (heard Mexican mostly while there) playing. There is plenty of indoor seating and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating area has banderitas and lights that make it feel like you are in someone's home at a family cookout. It was very enjoyable. There wasn't too many people when I came so seating was wide open.

A great take on Torta ahogada. The bread here is phenomenal, the sauce is tomatoey, and the pork is so succulent and salty. I get the mix of carnitasl and cueritas. You order at the counter, and the nice folks bring your food to the table. They have indoor and outdoor seating here and its not too noisy. There aren't many parking spots so you might need to get one on the street.

Friendly staff. Absolutely the best torta I've ever eaten. My husband got the tacos with the crunch. I loved the bread and bought 2 extra to take home. Chef should bottle the torta sauce. It was outstanding. Will be back.

I was in SA on business and had finished one mtg and headed to a lunch mtg when I spotted Ro-Ho Pork and Bread. I noticed a sign in front that said it was Wine Magazine's Sandwich of the Year. Interesting. So I picked up my customer and asked if he'd been there and he said but was up for something new. The menu is simple - what I would call pulled pork (less the bbq sauce) either on a bun, on a bed of nacho chips or in a corn tortilla. And various stuff to mix these together with. Having no idea what some of the names meant I went with what sounded like a great choice - the Chilikillers (see pic)And dammm it was a good choice. Pulled pork, pinto bean purée, a tomato sauce pickled onions with sour cream and feta cheese. Yep feta. An odd choice I thought but worked great. My customer went with two tacos, La Gringa and Tacos Al Pastor. They looked good and said they were awesome. I can't wait until my next trip to SA to try out the other options. So me being a gringo, I couldn't try the pork stomach - didn't even know it was a thing, but it is. Good pricing too. Lots of good Mexican beers and frozen margaritas.

Great food in a beautiful restaurant. The location is tucked away but don't let that fool you, the grub here is legit! We had the Tort Ahogada, Gringa Taco, and Taco Al Pastor and all three were excellent. Super well prepared and delicious. Service was very friendly. Great spot!
