Rios Southtown Barbacoa

Wow!! This Rios location is amazing! The parking is a little awkward but if you are just running in you should be fine. There are a few tables but they were all full when I went. So in all honesty I went at about 11am. Which in Barbacoa time, is super late! They still had barbacoa though. It was super good! I got a sample of the menudo and let me tell you....you can tell it was made with love!! I also tried the chicharron taco and that is a must!!I did learn that the Rios locations are related and the barbacoa and tamales all come from the same central location but all the extras like the menudo or chicharron is made in house by the individual owner/chef. So if you are just looking for some barbacoa and big red in a Sunday any Rios location will do. But if you need the menudo and the extras the Southtown location is a must!!!

I found this little local spot a few weeks ago right up the street from my house. The place is cozy and nicely decorated, service is fast and friendly, and the barbacoa and tamales -- chef's kiss!! So good! The only drawback is they only serve barbacoa and tamales on weekends. Can't wait to go back for more tamales soon. Do yourself a favor and check this place out!

Absolutely loved my experience here. The staff was super friendly and even offered me a chicharron taco while I waited for the barbacoa and it was amazing.The menu is simple and small but if its barbacoa you're looking for this is the place to go. It was hot, fresh, tender and juicy. Paired with onions, cilantro, avocado, lime, and their delicious salsas this was incredibly delicious. I'll admit I was really full off 1 taco but still went ahead and ate the other one, it was that good. Highly recommend, and I'll be returning and telling more people about this place.

Great place! Delicious barbacoa!! Best to go on Saturday. Sunday is busy, especially after church. Get there early if you want tamales. A few (about 5) two-top tables inside. Primarily a to-go type place. They also have some who does coffee, lattes etc. (pay separately). Parking lot is tiny, so park on the side street. The owners and staff are super cool.

The food is amazing. The barbacoa is of the HIGHEST grade, the tamales are SO FLAVORFUL!! What makes this place more special is the family owned aspect. All you gotta do is sit in this place for 5 minutes and you will see that this family cares about their clients and their clients LOVE them!! I'm so happy I found this place!! VIVA FAMILIA RÍOS!!!!!!

Simple but simple is great. The barbacoa quality is top notch. Great flavor that did not need salt or much of anything. The tortillas were nice, fresh, and thick. The salsa could use a little more spice but was good quality. Outside we had alley cat coffee which was pretty delicious as well. The iced Mexican mocha was not to be missed. We are picky eaters but this one hit the mark for a simple great breakfast stop which we almost missed. Even made a quick u turn to get here.

Loved everything, tried the barbacoa, tamales, beans, and chicharrón. Not too fatty or greasy and super flavorful. Cool aesthetic, great service.

Amazing service treated us like family. Food was really good can't beat a Barbacoa tacos and a Big Red. Prices were good also not too expensive. Overall 5 stars
