Rios Barbacoa Helotes, TX

We have gone to this location or hubby has god the last 4 years and always yummy. Today I had to go since he was out golfing. lol. I ordered the #1, 1 pound barbacoa, 10 corn tortillas, hot sauce and added 2 liter Big Red & Large Avacado. Not bad for $24 Super busy but quick service. Barbacoa is super yummy & them homemade corn tortillas are amazing.My favorite Barbacoa in San Antonio

So first things first ... customer service is the worst and I felt so ugly and not understanding why I didn't just leave but I still waited patiently. The girl at the front desk finished with her customer in front of me and so I proceeded to walk up and she stopped me and said I'll be with you in a bit. Proceeds to just stand there looking at her hands. Then another girl called the customer behind me to help them and than another guy called another customer to help them while im still standing in front of the girl in front of me just standing there. Than she began to help me.. what was that about??? Not going back for this reason alone. Food was so greasy.

After looking around town for good Barbacoa I finally found my spot. The Barbacoa wasn't drenched in grease , it had a slight crisp to it and a lot of flavor. And just like others have mentioned their wasn't huge chunks of fat either. Definitely coming back to this place for some reliable quality barbacoa tacos. Oh and the tortillas were just right perfectly fluffy and warm.

I was hesitant about getting barbacoa from a new place. This place be was good.First thing, this place is in Helotes, right next to the Little Caesars. There's no drive thru so you will have to get down. When I got there, there was a line of two people outside the door but more inside. I didn't have to wait very long. Once inside there is a fridge with cold big red and another fridge for the variety of salsas. The menu is on the wall and it's a very simple menu. The do not have a lean or fatty option, just barbacoa. The staff was very friendly.Once I got the food home I was able to see the barbacoa and it looked and tasted good. No large pieces of fatty chunks, not too greasy, just right. The green salsa was good too and the corn tortillas were def delicious. I was a bit disappointed by the chicharones because I'm so used to the large pieces and variety types at my previous location but no big deal. Even my Big Red was cold when I got home. Will def continue to go to this place in the future

If want some great tasting barbacoa you have to visit Rios Barbacoa in Helotes. It is so delicious and meaty with just the perfect amount of fat to make it juicy. My husband and I have traveled and craved our weekend ritual. We came back to SA, it has changed so much. We were afraid we had lost our good tasting barbacoa until we came here to Rios. You do have to come early if you want to accompany that delicious barbacoa taco with some guacamole. Those guacamole cups fly out quickly. Did I mention the guacamole was amazing? Lol. They have tamales that are so good. They have menudo that is also tasty. The staff is quick and friendly they pay attention to detail so your order is always correct. The place is clean and neat. Good job Mr. Eddie. Thank you for keeping the weekend tradition alive and well on our side of town.

We have been going to Rio Barbacoa for at least the last three years. We were surprised to find it. It is the cleanest Molino that I have ever been in. The Barbacoa is truly all meat you will rarely find any kind of fatty chunks in there, Barbacoa, I also do not find it to be greasy, but it is not dry. It has a good flavor Before Covid the prices were fantastic for a number one combinations special however, since Covid the prices have increased just as they have everywhere else I still think it's worth the price the food is delicious it is always quick and did I say it was clean? It really is, the service has always been great exactly what you are looking for if you need a weekend fix of your Barbacoa and big red. they do not have a drive-through and it is a very small parking lot, but it is quick in and out even if there is a line.

The line was out the door on a Sunday morning at 9am. Always a good sign. I dreaded the wait but to my surprise- the staff moved the line at a steady pace. I was at least # 20 in line and was out the door in about 30 minutes or less with. Hot tamales. Fresh salsa and of course BARBACOA and a Big Red soda. Don't let the line discourage you from trying this place out. The staff is friendly and used to serving big lines !!! They do a great job !!!

SADLY they do not open on time. The one on Culebra is better. This one is also greasy

Barbacoa was okay, the flour tortillas are extremely thick, if your into that go head and grab it.
