Came to grab 2 tacos to go before work. Ordering was fast and easy with the cashier. Tacos were ready in less than 5 minutes! I ordered 1 chorizo/bean/potato and 1 carne guisada with cheese. I only ate the chorizo taco and was full after that. It was a very packed taco. I gave the carne guisada taco to a coworker who said she really enjoyed it. I'll be back for more taco tastings lol.Came back again and ordered a plain barbacoa taco and a country sausage with egg taco. Both on flour. The sausage was really good and these tortillas are the fluffy kind I like. The barbacoa wasn't oily like other places and had good flavor on its own. There were tiny pieces of fat but I didn't even ask if they had all meat. It didn't take away from the taco though. Still good for some breakfast tacos

I don't know how to word it, but here it goes. The food was real good, warm and delicious. The place is real nice, cozy and clean. I'm not a big fan of tea, but since it was part of the special of the day I ended up getting it. Don't get me wrong but, why do I get a to go charge when I didn't ask for a to go cup? The server is who offers the cup, and I say yes. I end up paying about $12.86 for a plate that was $8.99 total should have been about $10. Now I'm not crying for Pennie's, but come on let customers know that you charge for to go cups don't just offer them and also that gratuity will be included. That's my review to this place! Would I go back? Maybe! Also their credit card machine never works, so idk!

Yesterday I went to Piedras Negras Cafe with some co workers. There were four of us, the place was casual it wasn't too loud, mid-way full. The food was good, it was decently priced, big portions and just classic Mexican plates. The only reason I give 3 stars instead of 4 is because the service was a little unorganized. Our server misunderstood 2 orders, and she just left us with the wrong orders. The food was still good though.

Ordered seafood plate with fish, shrimp and oysters. Only to find out that they don't have any seafood! I ordered a small caldo de res. Came with one big tortilla de mail. It was good.

Menudo and bean&bacon taco on point. Best I've had in a while. Definitely gonna be one of my hot spots for Mexican breakfast like my grandma used to make. Also the sweet tea perfectly made. Two thumbs up.

Second time here. It's a find. First time had a flautas plate where my only knock was that there was not enough of it. This time had the Ruby taco-- $4.29 but worth it. Bean coated taco with a thin layer of steak nestling an entire sausage and a thick slice of bacon topped with onion and a grilled jalapeño. Fantastic. Believe it or not a squeeze of the lemon they give you works.

Piedras Negras Cafe is a hidden gem! The food is fantastic but what makes this place special to me is that it is family owned and operated. Even the employees that work there, seem to be part of the family which makes you as the customer feel part of the family! This culture starts with Mama Avila who you see hustling hard for her team and customers!I will go out of my way to come here!

The food is good. The service is the worst I have experienced in San Antonio. I got here and wanted to plug in my phone to the wall outlet to charge. (I needed to use my phone for Apple Pay and it was dead) They came and told me I had to leave if I wasn't going to eat or order anything. I let them know I had planned on drinking a cup of coffee and they made me pay for it before they gave it to me as if I were planning on stealing a cup of coffee. (I had just eaten here two hours prior for breakfast.) After I got my coffee the lady in charge came and told me I couldn't stay long. I had only had one cup and one refill which I hadn't touched yet. This was embarrassing, and I felt like they didn't want me here. So I will honor their wishes and will not return. I don't recommend this establishment. Btw I was dressed properly and didn't have any attitude.

they have Caldo, but only Res... no Pollo. I've ordered huevos rancheros overeasy w/porkchop twice, pork chop cooked to perfection, but egges overcooked both times... I'll keep going, but i guess give the cook special instructions not to overcook my eggs.
