Philly's Phamous Cheesesteaks

This place was recommended to me by a local person for the best Philly Cheesesteak in San Antonio. I took my son to it. He said it was very good and wants to go back on his next visit to town. Although I don't eat cheese, I tasted some of his meat and it was very tasty.

Have to say I've never had anything bad to say about Malik's but this past weekend was not a great experience. We went to the 1604 Cantina location with a group of friends. We've been going here forever and I always get the same thing. This time I ordered my usual , a large elder eats. My wife ordered the same but the regular size and then we got just a regular Philly for my son and a few orders of fries. When we get our food, my wife commented, which is which. They both came in the same size container and looked identical in size and toppings. I didn't make a big deal about it and just ate my food. The wait times were about 30 minutes so as we were finishing, our friend got their order. They also order a large elder eats Philly however theirs was HUGE. A noticeable difference. It wasn't in a container but was wrapped in foil instead. My wife immediately told me, they gave you the wrong size. Our friends Philly is what I'm used to getting when we visit so it became apparent that we did get the wrong size. No big deal, I was already full but I thought I'd go and ask for the difference in cash back. Just a couple of bucks. I tipped as well ( prior to getting the food) so I wasn't going to be out another few bucks on top of it. I went to the window and the person that took my order was not there. Instead the cook was at the window. I explained that I got a regular size but had ordered the large. He immediately said no, you go the large. By this time it had been about 40 minutes since I got our food and they were busy given the wait times. Before I could even ask for the 2 bucks he said I remember your order and I know you go the large. He then tried to lecture me on the physics of bread shrinkage.I just said, okay, and walked away. So, why? Why piss people off over 2 bucks. I tipped about 6 bucks so that I could get good service and food. The food itself is covered by the 60.00 I paid for our meals. The tip was for the service which was not great. This is exactly why businesses should NOT be asking for tips prior to putting out the product. At the end of the day, I just think this is bad business. I know I was right. I mean I'm visually looking at the difference and it was big enough to make me get up and go ask about it. So, not only will I not be going back, there goes my 60 bucks x 4-5 times I visit per year. We also went with 4 other couples, 3 of which ordered from Malik's and saw what happened. They won't be going back either. I also, blog and review quite a bit and I will be sharing my experience with others (just like I do when things are great) All over 2 bucks. SMH.

Found this place back in 2015 when I was flipping houses in the area, and they still have the same quality they did back then. Best cheese steaks I've had in San Antonio. Love that they have Philly Cheese fries, for those times I want a Philly and fries but don't know any all the bread. It's definitely a full meal by itself. Despite the fact that they put all the fixings on top of the fries, the fries are always super crisps!

The vibrancy of this food truck and area is amazing and perfect for nighttime eats! The food is fresh and delicious! They even have little ice cream type of refreshment! The service is quick and respectful. The nighttime is perfect for a little date with the lights on! It's a beautiful spot! They also have other trucks there if you like seafood! Very cool spot! Would definitely recommend to go by! If your a fries lover and of course a fan of Philly cheesesteaks! Not all that pricy either totally worth it!

This Philly cheesesteak place was really good... but the meat is extremely salty!!! But it was still good just very salty.

I had to try this spot because I heard the Philly cheesesteak is fire... and I have to say it's very good (better than the ones I've had in Philly). I like that i can order at a kiosk but the employees came out to check in with us. We started with the parmesan fries - they tasted very fresh and the seasoning was yummy but I prefer crispier fries. My daughter loved the cheese sauce. We all got the original, it is loaded with well-seasoned shaved meat and sautéed onions. Next time I'll likely add more cheese on top because I like it cheesy.

This place used to be t spot to get fresh and hot cheesesteaks and other goodies. Their fries used to be crispy and well seasoned. This wasn't the case on my last visit. The cheesesteak was good, but the kids meal I got for my little one and the side of fries was not. The fries were full of grease and not crispy at all. The hot dog seemed old and the bun was hard. Very underwhelming for $8 kids meal. The side of fries were similar to the greasy ones pictured below. Just be sure to ask for fresh fries if you stop by. Hopefully it was an off day for them, but it was around opening time on a Sunday and they weren't busy.

I always made the long drive to the San Pedro location until I found the truck off of 1604. Been here several times and will forever be back!

Recently celebrated my 30th birthday here with a twist. I hosted a mini woman's workshop where we did yoga (streamed from YouTube onto the TVs), ate great food catered from Malik's Philly's, guest speaker, and arts and crafts at the end. Booking was easy and was able to reach out at any time with questions. Rob (owner of the Rose Bush) called me a week prior to the event to give me the details I needed to stream the video. Vince (manager at Malik's) was super helpful with the food order and with set-up. I was able to place my order the day before through messenger. They added a door to make the event space even more private from the public. We had our own restroom, plenty of space for decor and drinks, and even a separate table for sweets. This is the place.

The cheese steak was topped with some very spicy sauce. The sign said Philly Phamous witch in my mind means similar to the original. My wife can't eat spicy food so kind of a downer. Fries were ok. No provolone.Full disclosure I'm from Philly!
