The server was quick and always attentive.Always brought us chips and salsa when running low, was able to bring us an extra menu due to the menu didn't have the chile relleno. The food was delicious, the salsa was top notch and fresh and warm temperature. The restaurant it self was cool and a nice atmosphere, perfect for families and for just a date night or for friends. I'd definitely come back and continue to do so!

Came here with my wife and her business associates recently. The restaurant wasn't too full and we were seated right away. We were seated in the main area but they do have booths and patio seating as well. I started off with a frozen margarita, which hit the spot. The waiter was very friendly and took good care of us. I really enjoyed their roasted salsa that came with the chips. For my entree, I ordered one of their specials, verde enchiladas. The sauce was great, and I appreciated them giving guac and sour cream with the plate. Tortillas were on point too. It was a great experience and I will likely visit again, as this place is not too far from my house.

Pericos offers friendly service, generous portions of delicious Tex-Mex favorites, and a fun, vibrant atmosphere. I can't believe I took so long to visit this place, but I'm glad I did recently, because Pericos has become one of my top-three Mexican restaurants in all of San Antonio. Yes, it's really that good...and you know you can trust ME.No Tex-Mex experience is complete without a great salsa, and Pericos does not disappoint. Their award-winning roasted salsa, served warm (as it should), compliments the fresh, crisp, perfectly seasoned tortilla chips. The smoky fire-roasted tomatoes imbue the salsa with a complex flavor profile absent from the cold, uninspired workhorses found at most Tex-Mex joints around town. I've experienced nothing but friendly, attentive service from every employee, but Christian deserves special acknowledgment. Despite being a relatively new employee (a few months, he told me), he possesses a thorough understanding of the menu and quick to offer refills (yes, another agua fresca, please!) and extra napkins, the latter of which I need whenever I stuff my face with their phenomenal(and messy) pollos asados!I've always associated pollo asado -- the intensely smoky, achiote-rubbed Mexican grilled chicken -- with destination dives on the west side of town. My part of town, the far northside, is not exactly a bastion of authentic Mexican food, so imagine my surprise when I saw that Pericos offered pollos asados! I must admit I was skeptical at first. Would a full-service Mexican restaurant be able to match the alchemical magic of those dedicated chicken joints on the west side? The answer, thankfully, is an unequivocal "yes!" I have ordered this dish at Pericos at least six times in the last two months. Without exception, the chicken has been juicy and intensely savory; the mesquite smoke from the live wood grill chars the skin and caramelizes the achiote pepper rub. The accompanying sides of Mexican street corn and charro beans are also outstanding. Pro tip (yes, I am a professional eater): take advantage of their Tuesday special: a half pollo asado (plus the aforementioned sides) for $13.99. It's an unbeatable value for one of the best chicken dishes you'll find in San Antonio. Speaking of pro tips, here's another: arrive during happy hour and order their mountain of nachos for just $6. I typically prefer my nachos to be dressed individually as opposed to tossed in a pile, but these scratched an itch I didn't know I had. It's nothing fancy: just a heaping pile of chips tossed with velvety homemade queso, refried beans (of the lard variety), fresh pico de gallo, and dollops of picadillo meat. Just order it and thank me later. Pericos, you deserve the highly coveted Ryan M. five-star seal of approval! I'm usually critical of Tex-Mex cuisine, as I find that most places in town don't even try. Pericos, however, stands out as one of the city's best Mexican restaurants. It's nothing fancy, just generous portions of Tex-Mex staples given the respect they deserve. The pollo asado alone is worth the trip!

I have driven by this place for over 3 years up and down Bandera rd and never stopped in but I finally did and I was not disappointed our server Tony was great he was very helpful and detailed in explaining the menu and what each item had in it. The food was delicious and filling. I ended up taking some home, the empanadas are very filling and tasty. I had the enchiladas verdes and the verde sauce was delicious. I will definitely be back to try more of the menu .

First time coming and I was not overly impressed. The service was very attentive, speedy and friendly. Got a seat almost instantly for a Friday night. The inside dining area and waiting area are very spacious. I got a parrot tail on the rocks and it was very tasty! If I had more time I would have had another! Got just an appetizer- Poco de Mexico. The chicken flautas didn't have much flavor inside. The queso was tasty but got clumpy quickly. The chicken in the quesadilla was overcooked and hard to chew. Only thing saving the score was drink and service.

We were here for a post-wedding rehearsal dinner with a large party of family and friends. The service was great but the food was honestly not it. I got the enchiladas verdes. It was okay, nothing to write home about. The salsa was cold but the guac was hot. Very strange. I constantly rag on Dallas Tex-Mex with my boyfriend, so I was honestly looking forward to showing him good San Antonio Tex-Mex. I did not hear the end of it the entire drive back to DFW.

Went in on a cold day recently to have some Caldo de Res. Place was not busy and service was good. Soup was tasty and not too salty, served with a side of rice. We haven't been here in a while so we were pleased things looked the same. Serving size is good and the homemade corn tortillas were delicious
