Pelicana Chicken

I've been here twice and I've been so pleased, this place has great chicken, the beer tower and snow beer are very cool concepts and tasty! Best experience here, cozy atmosphere as well, very friendly staff. Plus I love that they play K-pop music, and videos too. I will keep returning.

I was contacted by someone from Pelicana to give them an opportunity to make up for the issues I had with my last order. I'm not one to turn down a free meal and I'm all about second chances. To start with, they get an extra star spending the time and making the effort to reach out and show concern for the reputation of their. business, food and staff. Kudos on that point .The food. I opted for Onion rings instead of the fries this time and they were probably some of the best I've had in a long time. The batter is good and they were perfectly fried and nice and hot (fresh).I ordered another bowl of steamed rice again as that was a major pain point with me the last time. While it still isn't the bealst I've ever had, it was at least hot and fluffy and fresh which I appreciated. Another star added back.I ordered the same chicken and it was fresh and hot like the last time, but I added another spicier flavor as well to try it out ( which I offered to pay for, but they refused and gave it to me with my replacement order. (Classy).The chicken was moist and delicious. I didn't have much of a complaint about the chicken in the last review other than I thought it could have been a little cruncher and spicier. This batch was great all around and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal.I have to hand it to the staff, they were very polite and extremely professional. (Thanks Cheng and Mickey).I've include pics of this round of food.You can call it "buying back my loyalty" or "catering to me to change my review" ...So what? It worked. They asked for an opportunity tonshow they're better than what Inwrote the first time and they were right.

Last Sunday at around 3:30 PM, I finally visited Pelicana Chicken to see if it lived up to the hype. The establishment is clean and well-maintained, with most tables situated toward the back. There's potential to add more seating near the front, as two suspended lights suggest space for additional tables.Upon entering, there's no clear signage instructing guests to sign in for the waitlist. Fortunately, a vigilant young lady promptly guided us to do so. She and another young Asian woman were attentive and welcoming. In contrast, our server, Juan (as per our receipt), was formal but lacked warmth and attentiveness.When Juan first approached, we requested water with minimal ice and asked for more time to check the menu. He returned to take our orders and suggested a side of rice, which my cousin accepted. However, when our food arrived, the rice was missing. Juan informed us it would take an additional 15 minutes and offered to remove it from our bill if we couldn't wait. My cousin chose to forgo the rice. But then my cousin really wanted to enjoy his chicken with rice so after a while longer after several attempts to get Juan's attention, another young lady server approached us and we told her if the rice is ready yet. Juan came and said it wasn't even 15 minutes yet. But oddly, shortly after this interaction, a young lady brought a bowl of steaming rice to our table. This inconsistency was puzzling, and the rice's quality was subpar--dry and possibly reheated.The fried chicken itself was good but not exceptional, especially compared to the flavorful Korean fried chicken we're accustomed to from our time in NY/NJ. Our takeout order for family was poorly packaged; soy sauce leaked, making the bag sticky. For the prices at Pelicana Chicken, we expected higher quality and better service. The chicken wasn't as crispy as anticipated for double-fried, though the original sauce and smoked mayo on the side were tasty.The ambiance and cleanliness, including the restroom, are commendable. However, a sink in the hallway leading to the restroom would be beneficial for diners to wash sticky fingers, given the single-occupancy bathroom.Overall, while the environment is pleasant, the impersonal service from Juan and the average food quality don't justify the higher prices. I'm hesitant to return based on this experience. If and only if ever we visited again, I hope we don't get Juan as our waiter.

I have been craving KFC and Pelicana delivered in a major way!!!!! The service was a little slow but they were really swamped and every table was filled.They quickly took our order and walked us threw the menu and we placed a massive order that left us full a tick on a dogs back!

Always a pleasure to eat here. Wish I had a bigger group to try more menu items.Great service, attentive and correct orders. Try the peach drink. Delicious

1st Time here & heard about this place from several people. Christmas Eve Magic to have dinner here alone. Tried something different & I wasn't disappointed ~I don't know the name of dish but it was tasty & delicious. Excellent service with friendly staff members plus they recommend dishes. Definitely worth the hype and I can't wait to try the incredible looking fried chicken That will be for next visit

We were in the mood for a light casual meal and Pelicana Chicken came highly recommended. Looking at the name you might think this is a Latin food outlet but to my surprise, the original location is in South Korea. The entire menu has a Korean vibe but the selections feel right at home here in San Antonio. We ordered the chicken wings along with a couple of sauces to try them out. After you are seated in the modern dining room, the server will present you with a complimentary cabbage salad dressed with a tangy mayonnaise sauce. This is a really nice touch and reminds me of Korean and Japanese homes where this might be a side dish for a dinner.On to the wings. I really loved these crispy wings: they were very lightly battered and not greasy at all. The chicken was piping hot and juicy and tender, probably some of the best wings I've had at a restaurant. The original sauce is tangy but sweet and pretty good, although I think I liked the spicy mayo better with a nice kick of heat. All in all this is a great place for an inexpensive meal. Table service was prompt and friendly. Highly recommended.

Restaurant looks very nice inside. Much nicer than fast food, relaxed but nice enough to take a chill date. The server was immediately ready to help and the friendliness didn't decrease when I was just picking up instead of eating in. It wasn't packed so late at night, but the food was hot and delicious. I had the crispy chicken, both unsauced and with smoky mayo, ddukboki, and all three of the fried dough balls. My favorites were the smoky mayo and the cheesy ball. The regular chicken was still nicely spiced with a little heat but not much.. The ddukboki was delicious, but definitely spicy. I could only eat a little and my friend who is a huge fan of spicy Asian fare was sweating while he ate it. So the dough balls were good. But the real star was the smoky mayo chicken. I know, terrible name, but the smoky spicy hit from the peppers was fantastic and the touch of creaminess added by the "Mayo" was exactly what sent this into possibly the best chicken I've ever had. You don't taste actual mayo, it's just like they substituted mayo for butter in a buffalo wing sauce with better peppers and less vinegar. I do truly appreciate them being open late.. There will be many more trips in my future. Thank you from all the night shift workers. Excellent all over.

I had a to-go order, but I was able to look around when I got inside. The inside looks similar to a bar, they have a lot of seats and tables, and they have giant TVs that play mostly K-pop concerts. The people who work at the front were very friendly as well.I got the regular honey soy 9-piece fried chicken wings and a side of fries. The picture is not the best, but they literally give you a bucket of fries! The fries were thin and crispy on the outside, but soft on the inside; they also have some herbs on top. They were so good, and were the perfect side for my chicken! I have had Pelicana Chicken before and sampled a few of the of the flavors, and I can tell you that the honey soy is the best! It has the perfect sweet and savory flavor, and I literally cannot get tired of it even if I tried! The meal is a bit messy because they are very saucy wings, but it is so good that I literally do not care!! Also, the wings are quite big too, so the 9-piece can make 2 meals. Additionally, since I started coming here, the wings have never been dry or undercooked. The wings are very expensive, but they are also the best wings I have ever had.So to sum it up, the honey soy wings are my favorite item on the menu and the fries were the perfect side!!

The food, service , and ambiance is good. The rave about the chicken definitely was not all that we heard it was!! We didn't try anything else so in all fairness the entrees could have been on point! We will try again :)
