Parking seems a bit limited. It reminds me of a small mom-and-pop store. I love that they have the majority of the ingredients we buy, and I'm glad to have found this place near Lackland, which is closer than the other Asian stores we have to drive to. The store's male owner was welcoming and very friendly. However, Tina, who checked my husband and me out, provided no customer service. I had to engage and say, "Hi, how are you?" which made me feel like I was bothering her, as she wasn't friendly or welcoming at all. I asked the owner a question about desserts and such, and she rudely interrupted talking down on him, which shocked both my husband and I. As much as she lacked customer service, she will not stop us from coming back. I would like to give this place a 5 star, but with Tina's attitude and all, I have to knock a star off.

This hidden gem is located off 410 near Lackland AFB. Pearl of the Orient is a Filipino grocery store that also sells cooked Filipino food during the day. It is a small sized grocery store, but has almost everything you will need to make Filipino dishes from fresh vegetables to meats. If you love Goldilocks (a popular Filipino bakery), then keep in mind that they actually sell select Goldilocks products here. They restock their Goldilocks inventory once a week, typically on Friday so try to come by at the end of the week.

Love this place. Reasonable price. Home cook meal is the best. Kind of hole in the wall but just simply good.

Came in here expecting the typical Filipino hospitality. Nope, a older lady said we don't serve any food right now. Maybe she's tired, IDK but it's sad when I was referred to check out this restaurant but first impression is very important. Not going back to this place, at least the dude at the cashier was okay. Just disappointed as a filipino, expected better service.

Now open on Sundays! This place has the best Sisig in San Antonio I believe. They don't make it every weekend, so It's great to call them and reserve an order. One order is good for one person, and it comes with rice. If Sisig is not your thing, they have other pre-cooked foods on the counter any given weekend I've been there. They have the usual Mongo, Pancit, Pinakbet, and usually some kind of dried or fried fish. The price is very good for the food. I guess you could compare it to what you would typically pay at a Filipino, clean and hygienic, Carendaria. You can choose to eat in the store or take home, Everyone is super nice and TFC is blasting (^_^). I like this place and I hope you do too!

This family owned business has been around for 27 plus years. They keep it affordable compared to anywhere else. They are humble and cater to their customers and make accommodations. The food is authentic and affordable. Other places weren't as successful I think because the owners are very humble ,they keep it affordable and accommodate when they can . They have been feeding the community for many years. Come in and take your food to go and mingle with the community here. You might see a fellow Filipino friend or family here. You might catch them serving fried plantain or something to try for the first time. Favorites like, Adobo ,Lumpia, Pancit are some things you might find here on certain days. Fridays they have Fresh whole fish,Fried Fish, live crab, shrimp and Asian vegetables and fruit are just some things you might find here. Sometimes they invite you to try their own separate cooked meals in the back for the staff with them for Free. Treating you like family. Priceless.
