Ostra

Great spot near the River Walk for drinks and appetizers. We tried out some Aperol spritzes and fried calamari, which were both excellent. What stood out even more than the food and drink though, was the customer service. We were told by the hostess that technically, outdoor seating is reserved for those eating heavier meals. However, because we were waiting on some members of our party to return from a boat tour and wanted to be attentive and aware of their return, she kindly offered to let us sit outside. Additionally, with the Texas heat, she also offered to turn on the misters for us per our request. The owner also came out to speak with us, which made the whole experience even more personal.I can't wait to return here and experience their hotel and spa. If their restaurant service is already this great, I'm sure they will be top-notch too.

I have dined here twice and both times had a great experience! Sitting outside is perfect to people watch and the restaurant feels more casual. The inside area is swanky but a bit boring.Service has always been good and attentive, while the food comes out slower than I would like. The bluebonnet martini is my go to. The oysters are amazing and the oyster service is one of the best! The French onion burger was really tasty too and the fries are great.

The seating was in a cool spot opposite the courtyard and river that afforded pleasant air-conditioned comfort. There was soft pop music playing that served as appropriate background without being too distracting or overbearing. The meal started with the wonderful bread and butter that was put in front of me. The bread was soft, warm and fresh with a crust that was crispy but easy to bite into. It was accompanied by a pad of butter that was sprinkled with what resembled poppy seeds; unusual but delicious, and a delight to spread on bread. The main event followed, a yummy linguini pasta with clams. The sauce was a tasty white wine sauce with bits of red herbs similar to pimientos. It was topped with shredded parmesan cheese. What a wonderful meal, with just the right portion. This was a birthday dinner to treat myself after enduring some stressful past few months. The final act of this awesome experience was the Pistachio Ricotta Cake, a slightly sweet, layered delicacy surrounded by fresh fruit.

Jordan is a tremendous server: so courteous and knowledgeable. Her kind demeanor and fast but never rushed service made our experience at Ostra top notch. The food at Ostra is delicious and masterfully plated. We will be back. I hope Jordan can be our server again!

Came here for my dad's birthday, and online the menu looks like it is extensive but we were really underwhelmed at the selection when we came in person. It seems online they have their entire menu with what they can have but switch out maybe depending on the season.Service took longer than usual just to get us waters, our server was slow to get us refills and take our order. The only good thing was the bread/butter, tuna tacos and the clam chowder soup... This place was not very busy either on a Sunday night right on the river walk...

It was the day after Valentine's and they were only taking reservations but let us sit at the bar. We had the calamari, scallops and Denver steak. Everything was excellent. The bar servers were friendly and we felt like we received our food quickly.

Just had oysters and a beer. Oysters were fresh and delicious. It was the bartender who was a awesome Sydney! Thank you! For the advise and the funny convo . It was great end to the night .... Beautiful set up very elegant.

While in San Antonio for work, I went down to the riverwalk to find some sustenance. I found Ostra. A beautiful restaurant situated on the riverwalk.The prices are quite steep, but the menu looks amazing, and I love duck fat cooked potatoes and a flat iron steak. The bread arrives at the table with soft butter spri led with what I assume is Hawaiian Black salt. The bread was warm and tasted amazing. I may have been really hungry, but it was good!My potatoes and steak arrived shortly after. By the way, the service was really timely and very attentive.The potatoes were perfectly roasted and seasoned. I wish I could've eaten more.The steak, the flat iron didn't seem right, it looked too thick and small for a flat iron. I ordered medium rare, but I knew it was under when the steak jiggles when I touched a knife to it. I will eat it as long as it's not cold. I cut into it, and it was raw and cold. I hate asking to send things back as I worked in several restaurants after being in the Army and during college. I probably would have taken it home if I wasn't traveling and cooked it there. They did refire my steak, but by that time, the vegetables were cold, the steak was now Medium with just the hint of pink. Everything else was exceptional.

Had dining credit from the hotel so we had both dinner and breakfast at Ostra on the Riverwalk. I came in with low expectations but was pretty impressed with both the food and service. The vibe is both intimate and comforting, and if the weather is nice then the outdoor seating would be fun too.Overall, it's nothing to write home about but we definitely enjoyed our experience there. It won't disappoint!

The vegetarian migas and the quinoa bowl were tasty with the chips and beans and salsa. The fruit bowl id pass on it as fruit wasn't fresh. The service was very slow as they need more staff. If you are an Amex platinum member and book the hotel- it's a great perk to eat here! Thanks!
