Ate here on a quiet Wednesday night. Absolutely amazing across the board. Andrea and Daniel were fantastic. Andrea knew the menu front to back and explained how everything was prepared in detail (we had a lot of questions.) Daniel made so amazing drinks and he was kind enough to show me a new mojito technique. The food? Fantastic. We kept ordering because we never wanted to stop eating. I'm no expert on this type of food but everything was well balanced and individually fantastic. I don't think this kitchen makes mistakes. The restaurant itself is homely in a positive way. They aren't blaring music, no over the top lighting or decor. It's classy and simple. I'll be back for my birthday in a few weeks because that's how much I want to try more dishes (and margarita flavors.)

Of a table of 12, the majority order was the Tacos de pollo a la plancha and they did not disappoint. This was likely the heartiest meal @ the table. Other faves were: - enmoladas - guacamole - queso fundido Andrea was our server and so so good to us. Thursdays have margaritas for $6.99 that are delish! We highly recommend. The decor felt authentic and warm, making the vibes just perfect. We will be back!

This restaurant was so delicious for upscale Mexican food! We will definitely come again. I remember when it was a vegan restaurant but I'm glad the location has changed to this.We came on a Thursday night so we got half priced drinks. Our server gave us 1 full-priced because she told us it was half price after 7, but the menu said it should be All-Day on Thursdays. I didn't correct her because it seemed like a slow night. We were one of two tables at 7pm. Other than that the service was good and our drinks came out quickly from their large bar.The restaurant is medium sized (especially for Southtown) and they seem to have an extra room that could host larger parties. Now to the FOOD: We ordered Ribeye Tacos and the Cochinita Pibil - slow cooked pork. Both were so flavorful and came with fresh, tasty tortillas! The pork was juicy with sone fatty pieces, but it made for a delectable bite with the tortilla and pickled red onion. The Ribeye Tacos weren't cut steak pieces like I expected (it was more of a thin cut ribeye) but it was well-marinated and had great flavor. It also came with a smoky spread that added more depth to the meat. It wasn't spicy so I slathered it to every bite.Only thing we weren't a big fan of was the chips in the free appetizer. They were charred, which I get could've been for authenticity. But the burnt parts added too much bitterness and we couldn't enjoy the flavor of the salsas. Luckily the fresh tortillas came out perfectly cooked.I must say the quality of the food here was so good, we immediately decided we need to come back. There's a very small parking lot in the back, but on a slow night it wasn't too hard to get street parking nearby.

Let's just get to the point...drinks were superb. If you went there half asleep or in some sort of mood, the margaritas definitely would wake you up and change the vibe. :) A tad overpriced. My honey ordered the tacos and they're delicious, plenty of flavor and very filling. The chips and salsa along with the beans were also good. The fideo and enmoladas were not a hit. Or possibly just never had it prepared this way, flavor was off and truthfully I felt I got fried chicken taquitos covered in mole. The restaurant is done well and the staff was terrific. I will say the music of choice doesn't pass the vibe check. R&B and house music doesn't seem to fit what they're going for.

Dined here this past week for our first night in town and left very happy. The fresh chips, bean dip and salsas were excellent and you can tell they take a lot of pride in making a lot of things from scratch. We tried both versions of the pibil and were very happy with it. The entree version had the right amount of meat and fat that makes the pibil dish so delicious and was a treat to scoop it up in their house made tortilla's. The only dish we weren't too thrilled with was the Aguachile. It felt like a refined version of the dish (broth was poured table side on the shrimp vs letting them soak in it) which made all the difference in my opinion and the sauce lacked the punch of spice and citrus and was overpowered by cucumber instead. Our waitress was incredibly sweet and kind and even offered us suggestions on what to do while in town. A few kinks to sort out here like having the bartender situated in time and this place will be rocking!

Dinner with friends in this new-ish Southtown spot. Friendly greeting as we walked in, quickly seated. Fun, casual, but classy environment. Authentic Mexican dishes, no Tex-Mex here.Unfortunately, the MUSIC WAS SO LOUD we had to lean in to hear each other throughout the meal.Unfortunately, our friendly, smiling waitress spoke very little English, so it was difficult to ask questions or make special requests. Multiple times another smiling, friendly server who spoke more English came to our table to translate. Unfortunately, we couldn't have the ceviche we ordered because the kitchen was out of fish. On a Saturday night. At 6:30 pm. Unfortunately, we couldn't have the Pollo Con Mole because the kitchen had no mole available. Unfortunately, we had to wait extra time for our tortilla soup because they had to make a fresh batch. Unfortunately, no ice tea is served - only soft drinks and some flavored water. We did have a nice bottle of wine.Unfortunately, one of the entrees was served 10 minutes before anyone else's meal came out. Unfortunately, the food was only fair and was expensive. What we had hoped would be a great meal certainly turned out not to be. Unfortunately, won't be going back...

I recently dined at Nixtamali, (complete disclosure; I dined there twice on back-to-back nights) and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, making us feel right at home. Their professionalism and friendliness truly stood out.The food was nothing short of spectacular. Each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. From the appetizers to the desserts, every bite was a delight. The chef's creativity and attention to detail were evident in every course. The ambiance of the restaurant was perfect. The decor was rustic yet cozy, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. I took two different customers to this restaurant on sperate nights and I got high marks from each of them.Overall, Nixtamali exceeded all my expectations. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an outstanding dining experience.
