Nik's Not Normal

My son and I searched for a lunch spot on a Friday and found this unique location. Open Friday- Saturday and Sunday Niks Not Normal is definitely a unique eatery and a place you don't want to miss.. Located on a large lot next to the road - you will see the sign indicating OPEN! Park in the large dirt lot then make your selection from the huge board next to the colorful food truck. There are several picnic tables under a patio cover and believe it or not FREE BEER served!! We enjoyed talking to owners John and Chef Nik who made it a point to stop by all the tables and chat.. I ordered the turkey sandwich which came with avocado and pesto along with a side of home made coleslaw and my son ordered the brisket sandwich and side of hot Mac and cheese. Both meals super tasty. Kids and dogs are welcome and the Kiddos will enjoy running around the property. Definitely would recommend.

I wanna say this is the BEST BBQ in Canyon Lake. Stoped in a few days ago, the first time of many to come , and was greeted very courteously! The young lady at the window was so awesome and luckily patient because we had no idea what we wanted. We had the 5 pound brisket baked potato, and that was divine.... OMG I wholeheartedly, recommend it.Two of us were able to eat it for like two days... friking amazing!!!

This is the place for a brisket sandwich. We stopped by for lunch on Thursday. Placed the order and sat down with a cold beer. They brought our food out quick and it was delicious. The mac n' cheese is the bomb I definitely recommend this place for good BBQ. I will be coming back.

Hello flavor town!!! I had the pulled pork tacos! The pork is moist and it's so flavorful! The jalapeño ranch was delicious with the perfect amount of spice! I tried the bbq sauce and it's different in the best way possible! The frito pie was delicious and the brisket was juicy!!! Grilled cheese my son loved! They had peach sweet tea and it was so good! Nik was so nice to talk to, he took our order and brought the food out to us! We told our friend and she wanted us to bring her brisket tacos and she loved them!! Even brought us a sample of trey and it was amazing! The sausage had the perfect snap to it. Mac and cheese you can never go wrong, slaw was good! Those black beans were packed with flavor! You cannot go wrong with your order here. Everything has amazing flavor. The music was so nice to listen to while we were eating! They definitely have something special here! I'll definitely come back every time I'm in town!!!

Definitely not normal, but you will never want normal after eating here; seriously folks , mouth watering brisket tacos that will keep you coming back for more. (Unfortunately we are headed back to St. Louis in a few hours) . We were welcomed by the 3 sweetest people that made things even more perfect if that's possible. My husband and I really loved it so much we went back the next day after finding out they were open, we felt so lucky to have met such wonderful , kind, & warm people preparing this amazingly delicious food, you can feel the love , we definitely plan on coming back to Texas and we will be back at Nik's not normal bbq!!

Not your Tio's bbq, for sure! Absolutely amazing! The pulled pork is perfectly crispy and juicy! The flavor is perfection! The portions are generous, and the prices are fair! You won't leave disappointed! It's absolutely worth the drive!!!

I got to experience Nik's food a few weeks ago. My son and his friend provided Nik's BBQ for a party at my house. My son and his friend went to school with Nik, so I still remember Nik from when they were kids. Everyone at the party, which was 40 people, was blown away by the brisket, turkey, and pork, and the coleslaw was amazing. Hands down, the best bbq I've ever had, and I grew up on bbq and tried so many in my lifetime. The comments about the bbq lasted the whole party. I've daydreamed about that bbq ever since and plan on driving over soon to get my fix. I haven't checked out the menu yet, but if his coleslaw is that good, I want to see what else he makes. That slaw was topnotch!

As a lifelong Texan and local to the Canyon Lake area, I can confidently say Nik's Not Normal is by far the best BBQ I've ever had. If you're in the area, they are an absolute must try!

Best BBQ & sides in Texas. Everything is prepared , cooked, served with love. They truly care for their customers! The owners of the business are very friendly, great energy! They are about serving delicious food, with fresh local ingredients, hand crafted recipes, & cold free beer with a positive & caring experience for all their customers. I'd say this place is way better than a common name brand restaurant or any other bbq joint in the area. The brisket melt & home made Mac n cheese were both phenomenal! Nic "The chef" is highly trained & skilled at what he does. Jon is the other owner who came out and greeted us when we parked and began walking up. Introduced himself & gave us a wonderful story of how they started & what they're about & made sure we were taken care of with a wonderful experience. Offered us free cold beer, which is one of their gold mine ideas for all customers! I thought that was brilliant! Jon & chef personally came out & talked with us & made sure our food & experience was perfect! I highly recommend everyone to eat here! The brisket Melt was to die for ! I'll be going here every weekend now! They usually have live music but non the day I went . Said they are having a huge event May 19th. I'll forsure be there! If you havnt eatin here yet, you better get your butt there before they sell out for the day. Thanks again for the great experience guys!
