This place is an experience. A mix of depression and nostalgia. All upwardly mobile and successful raza come here to remember your humble roots. You will meet some gente that remind you of your tribe in the 60s and 70s. The really dirty front doors were the first sign maybe I should have concerns. The servers all have an air of being so busy and harried even though the raza clientele couldn't care less, sitting here like nothing else to do. It was like they were serving troops, not guests. The service skittish and my server did not bring me chips and salsa like the other tables received. She was that painted chola type that did it to be necia.I had the Enchildas Mexicanas with queso fresco which is the real reason I came. I am still trying to find a place that does them norteno style like in Monterrey. I am between a D+ and C-

O e of my favorite restaurants for lunch specials. Menudo is so tasty here! Homemade corn tortillas, the Sopes are huge with plenty of meat or chicken and lettuce, queso fresco and guacamole. Prices are very affordable here as well. Chips and salsa are very fresh as well. Haven't had a bad meal here yet . I love the quick turnaround time for food.

My main review is on the Cashier names Betty, I've been there a few times and each time she is by far an unpleasant and rude person! She seems hateful to certain people and I cause I'm one! She ignores me and will hello others before me though I was first! Seems a little rude towards white people but that shows when she is so obvious! I tried and went back a few times to see if any different but she is the same nasty lady as always so no more for me!

This is central San Antonio where the locals go. Simple plain atmosphere; not touristy; not trendy; just real authentic Mexican food. Let's put it this way, I was the only Gringo in the place!

We have yet to order something we didn't like. The food is amazing!! The servers were attentive and fast to fill a request. We've been there at least twice a month since our son recommended it as soon as I moved back to SA. Will be back again and again

The food portions are pretty big here. Which is nice! Prices are good too! BUT the service here is SOOOOOO SLOW. Not only to get your order taken, but to get your food too. I joked that they went all the way to Mexico for the food. If you're not in a rush then the wait for the food is worth it. As for me; 15 minutes to barely have a drink order taken then another 10 to get a food order taken, plus another 15 minutes to get the food is pretty wild.

Everything was above and beyond just good. Thanks to all servers cleanup po eggs cooked perfectly, servers kept my coffee cup full and warm.

Best extra crispy tripas in town, shoot, in Texas!!! I travel all around the country and have only tried tripas in Texas. I have only had good tripas, once a year when my uncle cooks them for my sister. Well my I laws brought us here and said they were the best. I have been here several times and have not been disappointed. I will continue to come and will bring anyone who wants to try them just to have an excuse to come back!

Who would imagine chilaquiles with shredded chicken? I didn't until now. This plate was the best breakfast I have had in years. Individually, each item was well seasoned and properly cooked. The potatoes were tasty and soft. I prefer crispy, but that is just my preference.

Wow! Only 3.5 stars? I've been eating here for years. The food is great Tex Mex. This is not a Jalisco style restaraunt. God bless Tex Mex. These types of restaurants are slowly disappearing as Jaliscos take over. It looks like a lot of the low reviews are around the time they moved from the old building next door into the larger building. I miss my hole in the wall older building. They were open for dinner also and my family ate there often. They eventually stopped dinner service. Regarding service. The place is usually packed and the servers are extremely busy but they are great. I think the delay in service is the kitchen. But the food is great and worth waiting for. There are few restaraunts where it is worth waiting. The food is consistent. They do have some server turnover as most restaraunts do so I cannot vouch for every server . Uva is usually at the register and sometimes she waits on tables. She is kind to everyone and she has been there since the old building. Pro tip: Go early and beat the crowds.
