Mama's Cafe

Came here for the holidays and luckily beat the rush around 10am on a Sunday! Parking can be annoying as it's 1 way diagonal parking in the front in but plenty of parking in the back so I recommend using that entrance. Service was amazing. Big shout out for our server Xavier for taking care of us despite how busy it was. Portions here are huge and delicious. Highly recommend the Ranch Hand and Papas Breakfast! The Ranch Hand was just enough pot roast to almost give you food coma Papas breakfast had me thinking it was one of the best chicken fried steaks I've had in a long time in the SATX area. Plenty of seating and can get kinda loud but it still felt homey with the cool decor. Will def be back.

I grew up in San Antonio but haven't been to Mama's Cafe since high school. For reference, I'm now in my mid-40s. My family tried it out for the sake of nostalgia and it was NOT what I remember. I don't know if the food was always mediocre or if my palate has just changed (I'm assuming it's a little of both). The service was attentive but there was nothing special about the food. It all tasted the same no matter what I had. I won't be going back. Overall, it's a 2.5 but I thought 3 stars was too much.

Mama's Cafe take's you back to grandmas house... the decorations on the walls reminisced of a farm house.We visited on a busy cold Sunday. Began with a mocha latte to get warmed up. We enjoyed the stake and eggs, A Helluva Mess and Chicken and Waffle. I just wish the latter were a bit crunchier.Service was prompt and friendly.

I have split feelings about this place. I've been meaning to try it for a while and that day was a good day to try something new. I'm taking a few things into consideration for my review. First, the ambiance was cool and what was expected. Kind of divey but kind of homey. No surprises. Service was impeccable in that my online order was ready a little after expected but for fresh & hot food, this is something I'm never going to complain about. I ordered the Oxtails pasta, an order of fried mushrooms & fried green tomatoes. My packaging felt warm but not necessarily hot as expected since it wasn't ready when I got there. But I just figured it may have been well packaged. I head home. My travel time home isn't very long even though I was hitting rush hour. It was a cool crisp day but not inside my car; the heat was on full blast. I'm thinking with the little traffic hold up, that would help also. It didn't. Everything was barely luke warm. I tasted everything before putting the pasta in the microwave and the apps in the air fryer. The pasta had a good taste but I'd rather have whole pieces than the way they prepared it. It had quite a few fine bones in it. The fried green tomatoes were pretty good and so were the mushrooms. They just got mushy because they couldn't breathe. Overall, for dinner, I thought everything was just ok. I think I'll come back and review after I try the breakfast. I'm thinking I'd prefer it.

Sat at the bar for dinner and drinks recently. We enjoyed talking with Skyler, who took great care of us. We love how all of the staff work together as a team and are always smiling and friendly. This is an added plus to the delicious meals and drinks Mama's Cafe serves. Portions are generous and affordable. Restaurant and bar is always clean and tidy no matter how busy they get. Save room for the chocolate cake a la mode, it is a must try!

Mama's Cafe is a comfort food haven with foodie flourishes for discriminating tastes. I came specifically to order the chicken fried steak, and it lived up to my expectations: tender beef with crispy breading and rich, creamy gravy. The fried mushrooms have the same cornmeal batter. The atmosphere is casual and the service is friendly and efficient. This is a good date night spot or a place to bring a group so that folks of all ages can enjoy classic Southern cooking.

It was a bit of a wait. We went on Sunday after church. Everything took a long time. The ranch dressing was delicious. We were a party of six and their small round table was too snug for comfort. The food was okay much better than most places in San Antonio. I did not enjoy the small pieces of hard bacon. Grandma loved her pork chops. It's not on the menu but they have oatmeal.

Visited Mama's Café on Nacogdoches and loved it! The chicken fried steak was fantastic--crispy, tender, and perfectly seasoned. The cozy atmosphere and friendly service made for a great experience.

They have great comfort food. So far I've tried their breakfast platter and chilaquiles verdes, both were phenomenal. The pancakes also have the delicious cake like consistency of homemade. Great attention by the server. We'll definitely return to try lunch.

Service was amazing we got seated fairly quickly and got our drinks and food ordered in a early matter.Ganna start with the pancakes and eggs were delicious!!!!! Every single restaurant serves eggs but these tasted very good I very much enjoyed them. And the bacon perfectly crispy and an amazing taste. Chilaquiles was spicy, tasty and hot ! Homemade corn tortillas and some cheese with and handful of chicken and 2 eggs on top was perfect. The salsa does have a wonderful taste but it's spicy . So just fyi it's does leave a lasting impression. I can't tell you much about the helluva mess plate. But my sister ate the whole plate and licked it clean. I very much enjoyed the entire restaurant the have an open bar with a large dining space. If you pass by and you're hungry STOP AND EAT HERE!!!!!!!
