Chicken Wings were yummy good! My companion's trout was just ok. I'm glad I didn't order it. Mac & cheese was more dry than creamy. Can't go wrong with fried okra.We were in the area to visit the local nursery and we decided to try some comfort 'soul food'. I have been reading about this place so we decided to give it a try... but we'll keeping trying for that perfect place... (started 4/12/14)

So I was down in San Antonio for a few days and wanted some soul food. Drove past Mama B's and placed my order. THE FOOD WAS HORRIBLE! I am just being honest. My yams were from the can. Canned yams. NOT GOOD! The mac N cheese taste like it was straight from the box. NOT GOOD! Chicken had a funny taste to it. The ice tea was made from powder tea mix. IT TASTE SO HORRIBLE THAT I JUST POURED IT OUT.I was beyond disappointed with this place and will never go back. NOT EVER! Food was just aweful.

I'm always on the hunt for good Soul Food restaurant's and I finally went to Mama B's and was VERY impressed. Much like Asian restaurants, you don't go to a soul food restaurant for style. They have those outdoor picnic tables with folding chairs. The outside also looks very rundown. What is important for me is that the service is TOP NOTCH and very friendly. The food was also delicious.I couldn't decide what I wanted. I was shocked they have chitterlings, but I was too frightened to order them. I ended up being a little brave and getting their pigs feet. They were DELICIOUS and well seasoned. My sides were Mac n Cheese and Rice w/ Gravy which were also delicious. I ordered a side of oysters and I was impressed with the thick batter used to fry them. To top things off I got a delicious Kool-Aid. If this place were closer I'd be here all the time.

My friend recommended this restaurant when I visited San Antonio for Fiesta.I admit, the exterior of the restaurant is a little discouraging, but looks can be deceiving. I ordered the catfish plate with two sides, which also came with a huge drink! My goodness...The catfish was very good quality fish and one could choose all the sides in the world. I had green beans and mac n' cheese. Cornbread came with my order and overall, everything tasted genuinely delicious. I can't wait to go again to have the candied yams. The son of the owner and servers were all very nice. This is a great restaurant with authentic soul food.

First of I felt at home as soon as I walked through the door. Food was just like my granny makes and for a good price. Anytime I stop in SA I will be making a trip here!
