Mague's Cafe

First time there for an early lunch. I had the picodillo and it was flavorful, although the portions was on the smaller side. My wife had the green chili chicken enchiladas. She said they were very good, but very skimpy on the chicken. The refried beans were a little runny, but the flavor was AMAZING! The Spanish rice was also very good. Service was OK - our host was very "busy" and mumbled that we could sit anywhere. Very retro red and white decor - reminiscent of an old diner. Will definitely be back!!

To start, when visiting on a very busy Saturday morning the service was terrific despite other reviews trashing it. The young man serving us made suggestions and the restaurant was happy to do 2 different types of enchiladas on the same entree plate although enchilada combos weren't on the menu. They even stopped us while we were preparing to leave to top off our tea to-go cups.It's clean and cheerful inside, a little loud but in a social local way. Lots of families. The prices are very very reasonable. A couple of beef items were $10-$12 but everything else was below $10.There's a big tray of Mexican pastries in the middle of the dining room. Looked delish but I wanted to save my appetite for my gordita picadillo and enchiladas. Glad I did because the picadillo was incredibly flavorful (unusual for this often bland beef and potato comfort food). I'd come back just for the picadillo. The green enchilada was bright and zingy and the chicken tender and moist. The mole enchilada had very deep complex flavors. Very rich. Good breakfast plates, solid beans and rice. Try the Mague's Special Taco for a yummy switch up on breakfast tacos. Very good house made tortillas. I wasn't a fan of the green salsa on the table nor the relleno, but that's a matter of taste. Recommended.

The best Chilliquilles in SA. Try with chorizo! Yum!!! Mommas cooking is awesome!A must try if you in the area...

Food is marginal at best... Servers are rude and condescending... Have been several times, have tried to communicate questions... Never again.

This is their Caldo de Pollo and I also got a Menudo and let me tell you it has been the best I have ever tasted here in the hill country. I live in Kerrville Texas and they don't have anything close to this. I will drive to just go eat this again and again and again to boerne tx magues mexican restaurant!!!! It is amazing!!!!!

Pretty much one of only a very few options in Boerne.If this place was in San Antonio and they treated people like dirt (as they do here), it would close within a month.The food is not at all bad and not at all wonderful...but please, please find a new line of work if waiting on people is such a bother to you!!

This was the worst experience. I saw cockroaches and also they stole my credit card information. The foot was kinda mid and the ambiance was honestly pretty mid too. I expect better my next visit.

I've been looking for a Mexican restaurant that served Mole enchiladas and have had no luck until I visited Mague's Cafe. Good service, delicious food and reasonable prices. We definitely will make this a regular stop.

Only tried for breakfast - Burgos rancheros both time and it was good. Restaurant looks like Country cafe inside but serves great Mexican food! Plus Excellent service (your coffee will never grow cold).

Tried this spot for breakfast based on the reviews ... and baffled by the raves. Very generic food, scrambled eggs were served in tiny pieces as if it was leftover egg, chilaquiles were cold, dry and mostly cheese, beans tasted like canned beans, and the menudo was horrible. Definitely not made by an experienced cook, they left the seeds in the chili sauce there was hardly any hominy. Service was prompt and server was attentive. She is the reason for any stars.
