Food: 10/10Service: 8/10 (came in on Mother's Day) so a little packed but that's expected Ambiance: 9/10This place has the best Italian food, family owned and made to order. We did wait about 20 minutes for our food to come out, again it was Mother's Day so that probably played an effect. I also called & made reservations a week before so we did not have to wait long for a table. This place is BYOB, they do offer wine glasses so don't worry if you forget yours. Bruschetta: 9/10I ordered the Lasagna: 10/10 perfect size and amount Baked ziti: 10/10Special of the Day was salmon & shrimp scampi pasta: 10/10The rest of my family members ordered kids pizza, chicken Alfredo & shrimp scampi. Everyone loved their food. We will be back again to eat more pasta and bruschetta!!

Good food but portion size is really small, tiny salad on a saucer is a joke, $17 Trio plate had child size portions. Luigi tries to fill you up with free heavy dough rolls. Will not go back.

We went on a very busy Friday evening. We've always wanted to try this place out bury never had the opportunity until now. When you walk into this restaurant, I felt as though I was transported to a small Italian restaurant nestled in Venice...it wasn't the decorations but possible just the building itself that reminded me of restaurants in Europe. Although the place only has window units, it wasn't as hot as the 100°+ heat outside and it was welcoming. Note to everyone: make reservations for Friday or Saturday evening as they are packed! We didn't know this and the lady asked if we wanted to sit outside and because it was nearly 110° outside we asked if we could sit inside. She stated they were completely booked but she will do what she can. There was a large group of 15 that had reservations and her and the owner, Luigi, made accommodations to fit my family of 4. You can tell the atmosphere was one where these people are regulars the way the owner interacted with them. The menu was extensive and had everything for everyone. They also gave you complimentary garlic bread that were beyond amazing! This can be a meal in itself! They came out piping hot and fresh! Beware, you can get full off of these alone! One is not enough! We ordered the following:1. Cheese pizza2. Chicken piccata 3. Chicken tetrazzini4. Spaghetti with meatballsAsk my daughter and the cheese pizza was two thumbs up, ask my husband and he said the pizza was really good! Great flavor, not too thick, not too thin for their liking. I ordered the chicken piccata and it was very good. The only criticism I have and it's a weird one, was that I thought there was too much chicken. Don't get me wrong, I like chicken but when it comes to pasta, I love pasta and the sauce much more! Next time I will ask for less chicken and more pasta. It was great. Not too buttery, capers gave it a punch, and the pasta was cooked to perfection. My husband had the tetrazzini and I will tell you I absolutely thought it was better than mine! I loved his more and it had such a great balance of flavors of peppers and artichoke and the pasta was perfectly cooked. I will probably order this next time! My son ate the spaghetti and meatballs and said it was the best spaghetti and meatballs he's ever had! He tore right into it and loved it, which is rare. The meatballs had great flavor, but the sauce reminded me of the chefboyree, which my husband loves so he loved it as well. Update: we are here again and did the meat sauce and it was soooo much better in my opinion. I ordered some Dessert and all were so good. The owner is incredibly nice and accommodating! The service was great as well! I love this hole in the wall! Love this place! Definitively Recommended!

What a cool place! I wasn't expecting much in such a small town. The food and service was fantastic. Only complaint was it was hot in there. The Wal Mart fans fell short of cooling the dining rooms. I was also impressed with Castroville. It was spotless, with personality, history and plenty to do and see. Off of the beaten path, but well worth a quick road trip. was very impressed Castroville

We had a work party here today and I was impressed. We had a party of 27 and Luigi himself took care of us. We didn't have a long wait for our food and he was so fun to talk to. Everyone enjoyed their food and the desserts were amazing. I tried a canoli and tasted the Italian Cream cake. I look forward to coming back with my family. My Chicken Murphy was delicious with artichoke hearts, capers and jalapeño. I loved the sauce and the spice was perfect. Give them a visit, you will have a good time.

When in Castorville, I always make a point to visit this authentic, charming restaurant. Luigi's isn't very big so plan to visit early. If the weather is nice, sit on the medium sized patio. The adjacent gardens and landscaping are an unexpected escape. My favorite menu item is the pizza. The dough always tastes fresh.

Manga, manga, manga! It's really hard to find an authentic, reasonable Italian restaurant ... well this one hit the mark. I felt the historical vibes of the restaurant walking in- original flooring and wooden beams, decor etc. Menu was extensive and there was something for everyone. Make sure to bring glasses : D , print is tiny. Our server was "Johnny Cash" lol as he jokingly stated, but seriously it was the owner, Luigi, himself. After a bit of convo with him, it was interesting to find out the history of this restaurant and how they have expanded extensively in other parts of Texas. First of the all the home made complementary garlic rolls are to die for! I'm not a huge bread person, but you can taste the freshness of the bread. All you can eat too. We ordered the baked ravioli, rigatoni with sausage and eggplant, chicken rollatini, and another chicken pasta dish with cream sauce. All were excellent! No complaintsWe are totally coming back! Good food and reasonable prices. Located on the same street as the Catholic Church , parking is easy and accessible. FYI- they do not serve alcohol, but you can bring your own.

Headed to try Luigi's last Sunday and I have to say it didn't disappoint! It's a very old fashioned building with nice charm and character... squeaky floors, old Italian decors and antique furniture and art makes it more authentic. The store was already busy when we got there and almost all tables were filled with diners. They have an outdoor patio which is great for private parties. Our server was very attentive to our needs despite her business. We got served with bread knots first and the. Our appetizer came, the calamari. The flavor was good but I was looking for a more authentic way of preparing the calamari. This one was prepared with Panko crumbs, which I don't find its authentic to an Italian prepared calamari. Overall it was decent. The bread was freshly made, and it was very delicious specially when you add butter to it. I ordered the Luigis tilapia, and it comes with big size, freshly fried tilapia on a bed of penny pasta, and the white sauce was drenched with mushrooms and a little bit of broccoli to add a different flavor to the meal. It was really good and very well prepared With pasta being al dente. My husband had the linguine with clams with a classic marinara sauce. It was very flavorful and right amount of food.Overall we had a great experience and will definitely come back. If you're in Castroville, stop by and try this restaurant and let me know what you think!

We have been to Luigi's in Castroville many times since moving to the far west end of San Antonio. We always get amazing food and have not found any dishes yet we were not thrilled with. Highly recommend this little gem if you are looking for some delicious Italian food!
